I went to Essential Therapy a few weeks ago for a facial and massage. The salon was beautiful and extremely clean, and the therapist was really knowledgeable and friendly. She went through the treatments with me before she started and made sure she concentrated on my sore shoulder during the massage which really helped to ease the pain. The facial was lovely and relaxing and my skin looked amazing afterwards. I will definitely go back here again.

I thought the treatment was wonderful and Emma the therapist was great! She explained everything very well and took her time to get to know my skin

I loved the last back and shoulder massage I had here, so I was looking forward to having the same again - I even paid extra to include a scalp massage. Sadly I was disappointed. The service was impersonal - sort of 'hiya, get on the table' - which is unusual for Essential Therapy. I felt like a box of cereal being beeped through a supermarket checkout! The massage itself was just okay. I mentioned tension in my shoulders but they were barely touched, and the scalp massage was nothing like I'd expected. I love getting my hair washed at the hairdresser and I thought it'd be something like that, but it was mainly pressure points being pressed, and my hair being tugged a bit. It felt really lacklustre.

I really needed a treat today and didn't feel like I got one. My shoulders still feel tense, and I wish I'd just saved my money :(

Hi Donna,

I am very sorry that your treatment did not live up to your expectations on this occasion. We value all feedback at Essential Therapy and your comments and concerns will certainly be addressed. I know that you are a regular client and that you have thoroughly enjoyed previous treatments at the salon, therefore I will contact you personally to discuss the situation with you.

I made an appointment with Essential therapy for my wedding, to include lash extensions, shellac on my nails and a spray tan. I was pretty nervous specifically about the spray tan incase I had a white wedding dress/tan disaster, on arrival I was immediately put at ease by the therapist who assured me the tan came in different colours and it wouldn't end up too dark and would sink in nicely! I firstly had my shellac done on my nails, I just opted for their file and polish version of shellac and it was great, there were many options for a French and she made sure I was really happy each step of the way. Then I had lash extensions applied and once again she gave me loads of options regarding the curl/length and im so so happy about the finished result, which looks completely natural and lovely! finally the result of my spray tan was very natural and very even all over colour. I felt my best on my big day and I will definitely be returning!

Me and my friend came to get a spray tan 2 days ago. My friend's tan turned out extremely dark and ORANGE to say the least. Mine on the otherhand, was so pale and patchy there was no point in even getting the tan done. This was my first experience at Essential Therapy (and my last!!!). The woman with short hair who did the tan was less than sociable, it appeared that she did not even enjoy her job. The tanning room itself couldn't even be called a tanning room. I have never been in such a small CUPBOARD to get a spray tan done. Awful experience.

First time here, the place is lovely and clean, the staff were were very nice.
Had a spray tan, not the best I've had - it's a bit patchy and some areas missed which is unfortunate, maybe the booth was too small for them to reach the lower parts of my legs. I would go back and try it again, the price was great!

its exactly what you would expect. They are quick and efficient. The spray tan is good and applied very evenly.

I love Essential Therapy but I wasn't thrilled with today's visit. Initially, the two staff members were too busy talking to each other to pay attention to my friend and I, and I had to politely interrupt to ask for some water. It'd be nice to not feel like you're imposing on someone's personal chat. The treatment was okay - I wish I'd been warned that my exfoliation was going to be chemical rather than a scrub, as the treatment applied stung and I didn't know to expect that. After my treatment I found some product that had been left on my skin and it flaked off all over my clothes! The treatment was functional, not that luxurious, and unexpectedly uncomfortable in parts (the stinging/burning sensation). I'll go back based on my previous experiences at Essential Therapy, but I wouldn't have a Dermalogica facial again.

This is a beautiful peaceful salon and was a pleasure to visit, service was excellent and the shellac looks amazing.
I would definitely recommend a visit and will be retuning as soon as I can for more pampering!

I had a shellac manicure done. It looked okay when finished but the cuticle work and shaping was not very well done. The colour only lasted 12 days before peeling off.

Beautiful, clean and very professional venue and staff. My spray tan didn't come out as well as it has when done in other places in the past. There were some areas missed probably because the tanning is done in the smallest closet like space.

Great service at Essential Therapy and very good value for money. Threading is done in a private room and the therapist was very friendly and attentive. I would definitely recommend Essential Therapy.

Nice spray tan treatment, the colour was a little light for me but the staff were friendly and the treatment room was nice enough.

Really good experience. Lovely salon, good attention to detail. Used hot wax which is less painful than regular wax. Highly recommend

I booked the Deluxe Pamper Day - Facial and Full Body Massage as a treat just after Christmas. Overall it was a wonderful experience, with some small areas that could be improved.

The welcome was friendly but it would have been nice for someone to have taken my coat (I sat with it on my lap while I waited) and to have been offered a glass of water (I have been offered one on previous visits, but not this time - in the end I asked for one). I asked the lady behind the desk to check that everything was marked as paid on their system, as after my last visit it was a bit awkward standing about waiting for them to confirm I'd already paid. I used the bathroom before my treatment and found it could have done with a clean, especially the sink.

My therapist (unfortunately I don't remember her name) was wonderful - very competent and professional, and I felt in good hands (literally!). One thing I really didn't like was the music - some sort of free-form jazz with panpipes, the worst I've heard in any spa. Towards the end some birdsong came on which was a welcome relief, but before long the panpipes started up again! The table was a little narrow - as a size 18 there wasn't any room for me to rest my arms alongside my body, but I found a comfortable way to hold them in the end. The 'hole' in the table was a little uncomfy at first but I settled into it eventually.

Gripes aside, the massage and facial were just brilliant - both relaxing and productive (a stubborn knot in my shoulder is long gone!), and my skin feels amazing. There was no hard sell in terms of product recommendations at the end, which I appreciated, and a record of what was done in my facial has been kept on file so we can pick up where we left off next time. I would come back to Essential Therapy for a facial and/or massage without hesitation, and would happily recommend it to others.

The only other thing to mention is that the package description on Wahanda lists both the massage and the facial as lasting 1 hour, but we started at 11:05 and finished at 12:50 so it was 15 minutes short. Not the end of the world, and to be honest both treatments felt lengthy and complete, but worth mentioning as I did notice it (perhaps the description should be changed?).
