Elegance Beauty Clinic at Whiteleys Shopping Centre part of Elegance Beauty Clinics

Elegance Beauty Clinic was first established in 1989 when Whiteley's shopping centre reopened.

Many of you would remember it then as Elegant Nails. With an “A”list clientele and celebrity following our specialty was Fiberglass Nail Extensions, but due to high demand, we introduced beauty a couple of years later.

The beauty industry as you know is constantly evolving, and like any professional business we found ourselves focusing more and more on anti aging treatments.

Introducing new state of the art equipment such as IPL, Laser, Ultra Sound and Radio Frequency we decided that although very well established and respected in our industry the name Elegant Nails did not relay to new clients the true nature of our services.

With that in mind we decided that the time was right to further evolve, changing the name and registering with the Healthcare commission.

In January 2006 Elegance Beauty Clinic was launched with a seal of approval from the Healthcare commission.

At Elegance Beauty Clinic our aim is to provide a first class service with first class results

I bought a voucher for 6 sessions of IPL and was disappointed at the treatment that I received. Having done IPL before, I felt as if the treatment was always being rushed. I can honestly say that there was only one girl who did my treatment that was efficient and attentive (yes, because the treatment was always done by different staff, each with their own way of doing things). Was also a bit dismayed by the way I saw a member of staff arguing with a client in front of her young daughter - this was very unprofessional.

I purchased an IPL voucher for 6 treatments of which I have had 2 sessions. I then also purchased another Groupon voucher for 6 microdermabrasion facials. By reading the reviews it appears I've had a lucky escape with these. As requested I redeemed the voucher for the facials through their process and made an appointment. When I turned up for the facial appointment which was just before my IPL session I was told that I couldn't have an appointment becuase I was already a customer of theirs. Apparently it states on their voucher that it is for new customers only. I admit I hadn't noticed that but shouldn't that have been picked up when I went through the process to redeem my voucher? They also said I could use 3 facials if I was prepared to spend £70 on extra products. I don't think so! I was clearly not impressed and was told that the manager would ring me on Monday morning. I wrote them an email to which I received no reply. Monday morning came and went, Tuesday came and went and still no call, email or response to tweets I had posted. I rang on Weds to be told the manager Karen wasn't in and they had no idea when she would be. I eventually got a call back from Karen who was extremely rude to me, talked over me when I was trying to speak, was very abrupt and totally dismissive of me. I was absolutely appalled by the treatment of her. I went to Groupon who were extremely polite and are now arranging my refund. Groupon also stated why did they redeem my voucher in the first place. My thoughts exactly! But I'm now pleased they didn't as the facial treatments sound appalling. Totally dodged a bullet. Make sure you do too by not having any treatments here!

I had a Groupon offer for 6 microdermabrasion treatments. I've had this facial many times before at other salons and love the results and know what to expect in the treatment. Each visit I was kept waiting over 15 minutes , on 4 occasions the machine was playing up and did not dispense any crystals onto the face so a waste of time. The therapists seemed quite inexperienced and nervous and each time they were different as staff kept leaving. On one occasion I had a terrible reaction to the treatment which had never happened previously at other salons and I came up in red bumps all over my face after the treatment which lasted a few days and was awful as had an important occasion which is why I'd booked that particular in . I took some photos of it and spoke to somebody over the phone to say what had happened. They said to email images but heard nothing back until I went in the next time and the owner/manageress took me into a tiny room with lots of unused equipment piled up and spoke in a very unpleasant and aggressive way which I found quite intimidating . She said it couldn't have been the treatment that caused the red bumps and insisted I not take the matter further. I knew it was that as happened straight after facial and wasn't the usual redness you expect with microdermabrasion . I felt extremely disappointed in the whole experience with this salon and their lack of professionalism . I would categorically NOT recommend this place to anybody and have told my friends who ask my advice on places , as I'm a beauty junkie and Makeup Artist/Beauty Blogger, to avoid at all costs . The owner needs to take a look at her aggressive approach and perhaps listen and realise customers talk and intimidation is not on . I'm a very easy going person and don't like confrontation so this took me aback . I've never experienced such a salon in my life and would say please save your money and go somewhere where they don't keep you waiting, cannot deliver a treatment and are extremely rude!

Funny the manager was extremely rude to me as well. Talked over me on the phone, aggressive, unhelpful and downright rude! Go elsewhere these people don't deserve your business!

I have had many microdermabrations in the past, most excellent. I had two different therapists. On my first visit I had a friendly effcient lady who gave me lots of advice. Actually it was more than advice, I was subjected to a hard sell the whole treatment. What see was suggesting I purchase would have cost me about £150. I felt rather uncomfortable as I had no intention of spending that kind of money. The hard sell continued till I left. The second time I went I had a totally different experience. Different therapist, made suggestions and left it there, no hard sell. Went back for another treatment and had the original therapist. She was hard as stone towards me, efficient but hard. Obviously rememebered that I had not taken her advice to purchase add ons. Hardly spoke, didnt smile once. I went home and had to wash my face as it still had granuals on it which were scratching my skin. What else can I say.....

p.s. I gave them 3 stars as I had to give credit to the nice blonde lady who treated me. She is a credit to the business.

Was not happy with my experience. Bought a voucher from Groupon for 6 sessions. Even though my voucher stated two medium and two small areas or one large and two medium areas, they were only going to treat two small areas and for an additional medium area I was asked to pay even more which annoyed be a lot since I travelled all the way just for the treatment.

Having been stung by another salon using Groupon I went to EBC after being recommended by a friend. The staff have always been friendly to me and even found a way to fit me in when I turned up for a session on the wrong day.
The treatments have been very professional, the establishment is very clean and the staff have been very upfront with what is and isn't included. They were also happy to offer discounted rates for extra IPL treatments.
I have already recommended it to some friends and will definitely continue to do so

This was my first microdermabrasion. The lady who treated me explained what she was about to do and how to would feel. The treatment itself was nice and relaxing but I'd have appreciated it if she had not tried to sell me add-on treatments or more microdermabrasions, pointing out that just one would not really help anything. I got the deal via Groupon for about a third of the original price. It was alright for this value but not worth the original advertised £60.

I have bought 6 sessions of IPL which were a complete waste of money. I have had a course of IPL treatments in another location that has actually worked so I do know what a good quality treatment is! I had a number of different therapists, most doing the treatment in 10-15mins rather than 30mins as it was supposed to be, doing a poor job and missing very large patches. I am aware that IPL hair removal takes time for the hair to fall off and that some of it might not fall at all but having square hairy patches and square bold patches was ridiculous! I do not recommend purchasing the discounted offer.

I had my first microdermabrasion and despite arriving earlier, I had to wait some further 5min until the therapist started the treatment, finishing it less than 20min later.

I am not a demanding person but I was a bit disappointed with the whole process: despite both the receptionist and the therapist being friendly face to face, arranging the appointment over the phone was a bit of a nightmare due to the 'brusque' attitude of the person who answered the phone.

In the treatment room, I had my face cleaned very fast and in an abrasive way also removing bits of my lipstick and eye makeup despite telling the therapist I have a very delicate skin. The microdermabrasion was done with crystal tips but I found this to be the least bearable method (after having so many microdermabrasions in the past) and left me with lots of flaky skin almost like powder that remained on my skin even after the therapist rapidly cleaned my skin and applied sparingly some cream.

As I said I was not happy at all comparing this with the excellent microdermabrasion I had at other places, but as both ladies were great face to face, I am hoping that I will have a better experience in the future.

I have been going to Elegance Beauty Clinic since it opened, and have never been disappointed with any of their beauty procedures, so I was shocked when I read some of the miserable reviews that have been posted. The Salon keeps up with all the latest treatments and equipment, and is regularly refurbished. The staff are well-trained and professional, which is why we are quite a large regular group of customers, - rarely do I attend for a treatment without meeting another regular. So I was not really surprised to see most of the bad reviews came from customers on 'deals' or cheap coupons, obviously not used to having professional, regular beauty treatments, and expecting dramatic results from their first visit! I would definitely recommend this Salon to anyone who wants to take good care of themselves on a regular basis!

This was my first time buying a microdermabrasion course off Groupon and I've got to admit I was a bit hesitant. Often you think if the deals too good to be true there must be a catch somewhere. Anyway I bought is because of the price and just hoped for the best. I was so pleasantly surprised at the thoroughly good service and treatment received. The girls are friendly and professional. I expected to be treated differently because I had a voucher, but I have to say whenever I've been there I always felt very welcomed. I ended up doing some wax treatment with them as well. So would recommend this place to anyone.

I've had five out of six IPL treatments at Elegance Beauty Clinic and each session has been a completely different experience based on the therapist who took the session. Some therapists were abrupt and unfriendly, others were welcoming and thoughtful. The treatment again depended on the therapist and obviously the amount of training and experience vastly differed from one therapist to the next - there was no consistency between therapists. On my third visit, the IPL machine stopped working half way through the session, so we could not complete the session.

As previous reviewees have mentioned, the clinic is very small and the IPL treatment room is small, but does the job.

I would highly recommend Laura, a beautiful Italian therapist, who was very friendly, welcoming and excellent throughout the session I had with her.

Elegance Beauty tries to make good use of a small space, but this just means that there is little ambiance. Staff are professional and well-trained, if a little cold and rushed. They certainly made me feel welcome and as though grateful for my business, but the prices are so high that without a deal I couldn't return. They are better at complicated work (e.g., the application and removal of gels and tips, facials with extraction) than at a basic manicure-pedicure. I only wish the stations, waiting area, and staff room weren't so close together and cold as it is impossible to relax. But for regular, city center beauty basics, it's a good choice.

I usually don't complain, but I just had to after my visit to Elegance Beauty.

I bought a voucher for 6 microdermabrasion sessions and had my first one booked in a few weeks ago.
First of all I had to wait for 20 min to be seen, and as I was waiting one of the staff asked me to move as she was hoovering the waiting area. When I was finally seen, the "therapist" did NOT clean my face, she only spritzed some water and dried with a tissue. I wear a lot of make up during the day due to my skin problems, so this meant that she was peeling my skin with my make up on...
I thought this was very odd and yesterday when I went for a skin consultation with another salon I asked about this and the lady said that the skin needs to be completely clean before the microdermabrasion!
My skin was flaking and was very red for one week after the visit and even though this can be normal I'll be asking for my money back!
Avoid!

Same for me, I went there last Friday for a microdermabrasion treatment which lasted 5 mns instead of 30 mns. The therapist cleaned roughly my skin before starting the treatment, then put a bit of cream after the treatment...
When I left, I touched my skin and could feel the crystals on it.
I don't recommend this place and I will never go back again.

Went to this salon after a friend got a deal for a manicure and pedicure. I'm always a bit worried about these cheap deals as you hear a lot of stories of people being shortchanged, but my experience was good. This was mainly because the therapists were really nice - I like a good gossip, cups of tea and trashy magazines when I go to a salon and I got all of these. My therapist also did a lovely job of my nails. The fingernails started to chip after only a couple of days, but I find that always happens with my nails - think I'm just incapable of looking after a manicure. The pedicure, on the other hand, lasted beautifully.

Overall, my friend and I were really pleased with our treatments, although we both said that at full price it would've been too expensive. Unfortunately, the experience (and the ambience) were slightly ruined by another customer making a lengthy complaint about her treatment, which was a body treatment and she complained that the facilities weren't adequate. So perhaps steer clear of that treatment!

This salon is one of my favourites for manicures and pedicures. The therapists are excellent and always make me feel comfortable. The manicure looked gorgeous (they have a good range of Essie colours) and was really long lasting (seven days)!

Will always return to Elegance Beauty Clinic!
