The therapists here are fantastic and we had very good treatments from them. We loved the heated chairs in the relaxation room and then had a beautiful afternoon tea in the restaurant. The only problem was the booking experience - we had a dated booking through wahanda and received confirmation, but when I called to book the specific treatments nobody answered. I emailed and kept trying to call, eventually I received a voicemail telling me my treatment times. When we arrived the staff asked for our voucher - which we didn't have as it wasn't that kind of booking with a voucher. I ended up having to resend all of the emails I had sent and received to do with the booking, all a bit frustrating especially as when I visited this venue before there were no problems, they booked me in using the wahanda booking reference. So the reception staff need to have a little more training on how to welcome wahanda bookings but aside from that everything was good!

The experience was awful from initial booking stage to when we left. The facilities were pleasant, I am happy to admit that however I was disappointed there was no swimming pool. We had two hours in the spa before our treatments, we arrived slightly late which i am glad about as we couldn't have spent two hours there.

The main disappointment was the staff knew nothing, I was told incorrect things from before I arrived to on the day.

Another time I was speaking to them about the arrangement (see below - the three times I call the day before the booking) - I got told I was welcome to come an hour before my treatment to use the facilities. The whole deal I booked from Wahanda was TWO hours spa usage. Another example of the staff not seeming to know how to view the system.

I asked one staff member about our pedicures, which we originally had booked in, she said that it is actually just a file and polish. I said it was advertised as a pedicure NOT file and polish on wahanda’s website - she said wahanda write these which is why I originally contacted Tracy at wahanda. Tracy advised the spa write the adverts for wahanda. One more example of being told the incorrect information.

The day before we arrived I spoke to Silbir at the spa THREE times with TWO emails (which she didn't event get round to responding to so I had to ring AGAIN) to arrange the facials, which were offered by the previous manager free of charge instead of a pedi. After this had been arranged with another colleague she called me and said it was a £20 supplement pp for a facial which I contested. I had been told we could swap these over free, but was not being told we would be charged. Luckily at my work we record our calls, so I had to find the phone call and email it over. The call was a conversation with the manager who offered us the change as the pedi wasn't actually a pedi (as advertised on wahanda's website, it is actually just a file and polish. Another incorrect experience).

When Silbir agreed I was in the right we confirmed AGAIN my mum and I were to be seen, at 2pm, both for facials. This was the day before we arrived.

On the day we were greeted and the lady at the front desk (Nano I believe her name was?) reconfirmed our booking - facials at 2pm. When we found out there was no swimming pool (perhaps an oversight on my part) we asked to move our facials forward. Nano looked on the system and said the therapist was in at 1pm after lunch, and another in at 1:15 or 1:30 - something like that. We said, ok great, can we change it to this time then? She said no, as they had bookings. My mum and I looked at each other and couldn't understand why she even bothered mentioning when the therapist was back instead of simply saying they were booked!!

Keeping the facials at 2pm - We finished in the sauna and were patiently waiting in the relaxation room then at 2:20pm I went to go and find out what was going on. I found two therapist and the two reception girls discussing the problem. Apparently there wasn't two therapists who could do facials at 2pm. I was shell shocked. This had all been arranged and discussed at least 3 or 4 times, and then reconfirmed by the girl on reception desk (who didn't have a clue about anything, Im sorry to add), when we arrived. I was furious - this was discussed 24hrs earlier with Silbir and THEN ON ARRIVAL!!!!

What resulted was my mum had to have a massage and I had a facial. My facial was ok, her massage was brilliant (credit where credit is due).

When we finished at 3pm (half an hour late - our lunch was booked in at 3pm and we hadn't even had a shower yet!) I went to reception to double check they had informed the restaurant we wouldn't obviously be late. They hadn't. I was pretty surprised I had to chase them to have to do this.

When we finally got to the restaurant they asked us for our voucher from the spa. I was confused, as the spa had not given us a voucher. Once again, surprise surprise, the wrong/no info given. The two girls who were working that day honestly didn't have a clue. The food at the restaurant was delicious though.

All in all, what should have been a relaxing experience was simply chaotic, confusing and very disappointing.

I think we were there on the same day! We booked s facial for me and a massage for him. Took several attempted phone calls, no answer, and emails to get this, but I received a bonemeal confirming it. I then got taken to a room with my husband and two massage tables, they had us down for a couples massage! I said I was having a facial so they had to swap the therapists over and I git taken to s different room! Therapists are great but booking system is terrible!

I cannot recommend this spa enough. I attended this Spa as a last minute decision for my 16 yo sister's birthday. The initial treatment that I had was unavailable but Isabella went out of her way to recommend another one. We had the Moroccan treatment, plus use of all the facilities including the amazing relaxation room. It was excellent value for money and they even organised a birthday cake for my sister, without me asking. All new facilities, relaxing atmosphere and excellent staff. Really happy with our treatment.

A nice (hotel) spa and the treatment I had (30 mins massage) was nice. But the booking experience - what a pallava. The staff seemed very unclear as to what the lastminute.com package would entitle me to get. There were several phone calls to try and sort this out. I ended up having two different version of what I would get, at what time and then a completely new version when I actually arrived at the spa on the day! Added to my stress instead of being a relaxing experience.

Absolutely the same thing that happened to me!! I have a review waiting to put up when they ask me. The whole thing has been a nightmare. The staff literally don't know what is included in anything or how to make/read their booking system.

I really enjoyed the spa day at East River. The ambience was lovely the staff genial and friendly. It was clean and we liked the attention to detail. Was great value for money we kept commenting that we felt like we were in holiday in our own city. The afternoon tea was a highlight but the treatments were lush too. Would highly remix men's (and have Ben doing so) and would def go again!

When I made the booking on Wahanda, I immediately telephoned the spa the nxt day to book my treatment. Although I made sure that the treatment was for the take two spa package and included two treatments (morrocan rasul & couples massage), the spa only booked the rasul and not the couples massage. This was despite me sending them my wahanda email to confirm the treatments I had paid for. The treatment however was very relaxing and the staff were very professional.
The spa staff however were most efficient to rectify this & we did manage to have a massage treatment separately but it wasn't a couples treatment as we anticipated. The morrocan steam bath wasn't as relaxing as I had imagined as we were waiting ages in the cold room for the steam to be turned on!
The spa relaxing room though had a nice ambience and the experience showers, steam room and sauna were very satisfactory.

The spa day was only value for money with lunch included. I expected the pedicure to include soaking my feet in warm water and filing the soles of my feet.
When I telephoned the hotel to confirm my booking I was initially told that the spa was full. I had to call the spa the following day to sort things out as no one bothered to contact me from the spa even though I left my phone number.

After waiting over 30 mins for our massage we were then hurried to get down for the dining experience. We had ordered the high tea and were told we couldn't have it and had to have lunch, even though there were people sat behind us eating the high tea.

I took my mum here for a Mother's Day present! The hotel was easy to find and the massage was the best both of us had, had! The staff were lovely and couldn't do enough for us. Only thing I would say is if there was a pool it would be better but overall an amazing day, would reccomend to anyone and will be rebooking very soon!

The services are great and professional and the spa facilities are nice. I think the treatments are a little overpriced but I've grown comfortable with the spa facilities and love spending the day there
