In Jan this year I started getting mild to moderate acne around my chin, jaw line and cheeks. I've never had acne before and nothing was working so I decided to get a skin consultation. They recommended a course of 6x Vitamin C peels and a whole bunch of products, in my desperation I paid the £550 and thought I'd be clear of acne soon. Not so, my skin got worse, and I was told it might do this before stabilising. It didn't. Once my skin was starting to calm down after a peel (7-10 days later) I reluctantly went back in for my next peel you have to have them initially weekly then fortnightly) and it was then I started taking pictures of my skin. The acne was inflamed, almost burnt looking and it would come up with bumps under the skin, in addition I'd have lots of blocked pores, blackheads appearing all over my cheeks which I could feel as cleansed my face. I was horrified at how much worse my skin had got and called to tell them. They were very good and told me they'd swap for an obagi blue peel then a IPL oxy infusion for my last treatment. These had much better results in calming my skin and breakouts diminished. However, for the money spent I feel a bit sad that my skin is no better, if not worse, with scarring now. After all this, they still tried to sell me a courses of treatments which I turned away (hard as they are quite forceful on the selling bit, it never stops!) as I couldn't face spending more money and running the risk of having more skin problems.

In addition to this, I've also had botox done there once, never again. It lasted 2 months, and admittedly I've only had it a few times before that elsewhere but it's always got me to about 4.5mths and then started to wear off, whereas this has totally gone in just under 9 weeks.

Also, please note that this clinic is new and clean and totally acceptable. They've always been very pleasant to me there, offering water and remembering you. But if you're having a treatment done where your skin may look a bit eek after, there is no backdoor escape, you have to walk to the car park through the shops etc to escape. Felt like a needed a big hat and sunglasses sometimes!

Finally, I'd recommend that if you too are suffering with out of the ordinary adult acne like me see an actual dermatologists, there's way more going on below the surface than what this clinic is trained in for specialised "acne" treatments.

I went for a free consultation a few months ago as I had really bad acne that just wasnt clearing up and my skin was very scarred.

I will recommend the vitamin c peels, course of 6. This cost me £250 as there was a offer on. I was a little worried about spending all that money but it has been worth it. I am due to have my 5th treatment this weekend and in the last few weeks of having a treament every 2-3 weeks my skin has improved greatly. I also bought a recovery cream which was recommend, again this was on offer at £48 and I was worried about the cost but it has make such a difference to my skin. My skin is clear, I am having far less breakouts and the texture of my skin looks a lot better.

The two ladies that do the treaments for me are lovely and the clinic is always welcoming.

Once I have had my 6th treatment I will be going back again.

Thank you destination skin!

It was quite rushed and my skin was very "scrubbed" afterwards, the treatment was too abrasive for my skin but the therapist did not seem to realise. Venue was nice but not sure about the facial itself.

My word!! what a place!!

I was busy shopping in House of Fraser when i was pounced on by a young girl insisting i come to Destination Skin Clinic for a free skin consultation.

I was fairly tired and fancied a sit down after my shopping so i agreed. Then i regretted it!!

Never in my life have i been told i have "lovely challenging skin" (i have a bit of acne which ive never managed to shift since the teen years)

The girl didnt even seem to notice she'd insulted me and powered on into an imense list of treatments which would "cure" me!!!!

I stupidly sat there and took her insults instead of walking out which is what i really wanted to do!

In fairness she could have been having a bad day or somethign i dont know, and as i only ever saw this one girl i dont know if this is normal procedure??!!??

To give them their due the place is nicely done up, very clinical and white but the products looked good and it was very bright.

Having done a bit of searching i feel it may be a bit over priced but then i may just be biased because of the awful "consultation" i had.

I was greeted by a lovely therapist who was really smiley and pleasant - unfortunately she was not the person who was doing my treatment. This person then waited on reception until the receptionist came in and then took another customer through to a treatment room.

My therapist hadn't even arrived for work at the time that my treatment was due to start...she turned up 7 minutes late and didn't even apologise for keeping me waiting.

When we eventually went through to the treatment room, the therapist spent more time asking me questions and trying to sell me other treatments than she did doing the actual treatment itself. Appalling.

Believe me, I am not going to buy a whole course of treatments costing over £150 when she couldn't even be bothered to do the treatment properly or explain what she was doing - there was absolutely no explanation of what she was doing and what the treatment would entail in full.

I understand that these clinical treatments aren't supposed to be as relaxing as a spa treatment, however I did not expect want to have this turned into a sales pitch for all their other treatments.

This was supposed to be an hour treatment (including 15 min consultation) and turned into 10 min consultation, 15 min treatment and 20 min sales pitch...so I was in and out of there in well under an hour, even though the therapist was late!

If the therapist was good and the treatment was good, they would sell themselves and I would happily buy, but when something is given the hard sell, it always makes you wonder why - in this case, it seems it's because the treatment doesn't do anything (if it only takes 15 mins) and they are trying to sign you up under pressure rather than letting you make up your own mind when you can see how the treatments have worked...

I was incredibly disappointed with the service i received from this company, when i arrived the staff all appeared to have nothing to do as they were standing chatting and i was ignored until i actually said i had an appointment. i was then made to wait for 10 minutes while the girl supposedly seeing me for my treatment "tidied". why that couldnt have been done before i had arrived when she was chatting with her friends i dont know.
Whilst i was waiting i asked if i could have a glass of water, one of the other girls said she would me one then disappeared never to return with my water.
Eventually i was taken into a treatment room which appeared not to have been tidied, there was a towel on the floor and bits of paper everywhere.
My therapist sat me down and immediatley started trying to sell me treatments despite the fact that i showed her my treatment voucher, she seemed incapable of taking no for an answer. she changed tack slightly when i asked about the treatment i was here to have, to give her credit she did explain the treatment well but then proceded to go through their entire treatment regimen saying thing like "we do this treatment for cellulite" and giving me a look which of course really made me want to show her my cellulite! (Or not!)
Finally she let me get onto the bed to start my facial, which i really needed by now after having got so stressed in the "consultation".
The facial itself was not amazing but for the price i paid with the voucher i guess thats what i should have expected, i saw no difference in my skin what so ever other than that it felt very sticky from the amount of stuff she had piled onto my face, however she did stop talking whilst she was doing my treatment which was a bonus!
After i got up the therapist handed a piece of paper with a long list of treatments and prducts on it which she talked through and said i would benefit from, the only thing i could concentrate on was the massive £1200 price tag on the end of it! i very quickly said i would have a think and call back and left as soon as i could. i Can guarantee i will not be purchasing any furthur treatments or products even if the facial had been top notch i couldnt face going back and dealing with the hard sales pitch!

I had an oxygen facial at destination skin in Reading, I was really impressed at the service and knowledge of the therapist, Rachel. I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was. She was very friendly and explained the the process and what it will do for my skin. Yes there is an up-sell, I feel this is to be expected with such a bargain deal, but I didn't feel it was too much and I appreciated the advice I was given.

Overall the facial was about 45 mins, and I was there for an hour and 15 minutes- but alot of that time was chatting with my therapist and putting my make up on afterwards. Not bad for £20!

I only booked one facial through Wahanda to try it out, but I think I will now book the discounted 3 facials deal, as it is such good value.

i was very disappointed in the actual facial - the staff were nice but a lot of time was spent on paperwork and very hard sell of the products which I found uncomfortable.

The actual facial was OK but nothing different to any other slightly "nice" facial I have had.

Went to the Reading clinic for a skin peel. The therapist was pleasant but was difficult to understand because she had a thick accent. I was there for an hour but only 10 minutes was spent actually on the treatment. The rest of the time was spent filling in forms and trying to sell me courses that cost £1000+ which I don't even need. My skin felt sticky after I left and I saw no results whatsoever. I was telephoned 3 weeks later to ask for feedback. Because it wan't very positive, and to thank me for my time, I was told I would get a £25 voucher. That was weeks ago and it never arrived!

Bit disappointed that Therapist didnt really explain what result i could expect from the treatment. She explained the treatment itself very clearly(what was actually going to happen, what i might feel etc). Thought she would talk to me more about my skin and discuss what else maybe beneficial. Disappointed no toilet facilities in the clinic or even on that level of the store.

I had a wonderful vitamin C skin peel at Destination Skin in Reading. I had been there before so knew what to expect. The space is very light and airy, staff are lovely and my therapist on the day was brilliant. She talked me through every step and I left with glowing skin and the satisfaction that the whole experience had only cost a fraction of the price. I'd go back in a heart beat!

I seem to be getting addicted to this salon. So far I've had 4 sessions of microdermabrasion, 2 skin peels and 2 sessions of IPL on my underarms.

The treatment rooms are very white, with accents of fluorescent green. The rooms look and feel very clinical, although that's not surprising as it is advertised as a medi-spa, so I wouldn't expect it to be relaxing. It's handy as it's in House of Fraser in the Oracle shopping centre although the exact location of the clinic is a bit bizarre as it's hidden away at the back of menswear.

My favourite treatment is the microdermabrasion. They use the medical grade crystals, but I haven't found that harsh. Last time I nearly fell asleep during the microdermabrasion treatment. My skin is so smooth at the moment and looks so much brighter. I've had compliments about how "fresh" I look at the moment, which is nice. I've also had two light skin peels, the first one was very mild, the second one was quite a bit stronger and I did peel quite a bit from the second day. I've had 2 sessions of IPL, it was very professionally and clinically done although I will need a few more sessions to see results.

They always seem to have offers on, so it's possible to get a good deal. The only things I would change would be (a) some blankets or duvets would be nice as it can get cool with the air conditioning and (b) less of the hard sell at the end of the treatment please as it sours an otherwise fantastic experience.
