My daughter and I had a Mother & Daughter package at the Best Western spa. It's a good venue, and the surrounding countryside is lovely, which added to the experience. The facilities were excellent, and the staff at the reception welcoming, and very helpful. We had a mini- facial, which was excellent, and a manicure. This was less successful, as the nail polishes we could choose from were rather limited, and we both found they took a while to dry properly, and consequently smudged easily. I'd also booked us a hot stone massage, which I've never had before but it was a bit disappointing, being more like a normal massage with a sort of hot rub thrown in! I didn't really know what was going on, and missed the hot stone bit entirely - a bit more communication would have been welcome.

We had the same therapists for all our treatments, which was nice, and altogether had a very pleasant afternoon. I'd definitely try to arrive earlier if we went again - we had a hard time finding the hotel - but it was good value for money.

Rude manager. Deep fried food (supposedly healthy) and not a spa at all more like a travelodge. The website says 10 am opening so we arrived at 10 to be told our treatment slot had passed and started at 9.

Not exactly what we thought it was going to be, reception and entrance need updating, bar is so so, food is ok, room clean and tidy. Spa pretty good overall. Set in lovely grounds.

Dear Simon
I'm sorry to hear we didn't live up to your expectation here at The Dartmouth Hotel Golf and Spa.
The spa package you came to us on was very reasonable at £220 for 2 people for 1 night which included a 3 course meal ,breakfast both mornings ,overnight stay and 2 x 30mins treatments.
The grounds we are set in are beautiful and i'm glad you were able to look out onto them as you relaxed in our Brand new Dartmouth Spa after your treatments.
If you would like to contact me on spamanager@dgcc.co.uk then i would be happy to look into any more in depth feedback you could give myself and the other departments within the hotel.

I look forward to hearing from and i hope you would consider us again in the near future

Kind Regards
Sam

We recently stayed here and was very disappointed with the package deal. We have complained to the hotel and are awaiting a response.
Food - average and ran out of main dishes
Staff - treated different because we were on a package deal, and we were aware of this, we had to sit in a different area and were served last at breakfast, for example.
Treatments - worst I have ever had (been to over 20 spas). Rushed, no routine, partner went in after me and they did not change the towels.
Service - told one thing and then it was retracted. Said we had 2 course evening meal and lunch after our teatiment. After our treatment, 'no we don't have a free lunch on this package'.
Totally disappointment and will not re-book. Much nicer hotels and Spa's about.

Dear Miss

Sorry it has taken me a couples of days to respond. I have read your email and I am very sorry and disappointed that we did not reach your expectations on this occasion.

I completely agree you have not had the service you should have had and that we normally provide. The service and cleanliness of the Spa and service in the restaurant will be looked into and we will endeavour to get to the bottom of what went wrong. With regards to the package I can confirm none of our package breaks include lunch but I would like to take this opportunity to assure you that all our guests regardless of what package and rate plan they are on should be dealt with in a respectable, polite professional manor and I am very sorry if this was not the case on this occasion.

We would like to offer you a refund of £80.00 as compensation for your stay. Please contact me to confirm if this meets your approval and then I will process the refund.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you wish to discuss this further

Kind regards
Sam

The staff were helpful and professional. The pool was very noisy with children due to being half term which we didn't realise when booking. It was calm and peaceful during the spa treatment which was great. The package deal we had was very good value for money.

This Spa package was AMAZING value for money and overall very good. Massage, food and bedroom all very good. Only downfall was the lack of pool beds.

We booked this spa break as a chance to relax after Christmas and before the new year began. For £106 each for a two night stay inclusive of breakfast on both days, dinner on one night, two treatments and full use of facilities, we were not expecting anything amazing, and were just happy to be getting away! However, we were very pleasantly surprised with the Dartmouth Golf and Country Club, and with the Dartmouth Spa. The hotel staff were all very polite, professional and well presented. The hotel itself was immaculate, well decorated and had a lovely warm atmosphere. Our room was also incredibly clean, it smelt nice and looked newly refurbished. We had dinner at the hotel on the first night and the food was the only thing that we would have changed - there was nothing in particular wrong with it, but it just wasn't as good as it could have been. We went for our treatments the next morning, and we were very impressed with the quality of the spa - it had been recently refurbished and just like the hotel, it was immaculate. There was a nice reception, a lovely little relaxation room and plenty of space for treatments. My partner and I had back massages in a double therapy room at the same time which was nice. The therapists we were assigned were good, albeit a little shy and not as confident as I would have liked, but this did not spoil the experience, and their massages were very good. We used the jacuzzi, steam room and sauna after our treatments, and this was lovely. The pool is surrounded by large floor to ceiling windows so you can enjoy the view as you relax, and the sauna and steam room are both large and well designed. We would definitely go back to the Dartmouth for a similar break.

Came for a spa day with my mum last Saturday. Was greeted by very friendly staff both at reception and the therapist. The receptionist was very helpful sorted out our lunch, timings and robes very professional. The new refurbishment is much improved, the relax room is a great addition and the new pool area is bright and perfectly finished. Both myself and my mum had a deep tissue massage which despite what the other reviews said lasted a whole hour, the therapists were friendly and amazing and i will defiantly be coming back.
The changing rooms did let the spa down, however i spoke to the manager Sam who was very polite and willing to help, she assured me that they were being looked into and being redesigned.
overall a great spa day, great value for money would recommend to all friends and family.

Far too many people trying to use the facilities for it to be anything but tranquil. Nowhere to relax as all seats round pool taken. Other relaxation areas in use by others in between treatments. Lunch served at 19th hole which was busy with aspiring Ryder Cup winners, not particularly comfortable for those of us hanging out in fluffy dressing gowns, flip flops and no make up! Food was average. Overpriced and overbooked.

Dear Susan

I was saddened to hear you didn't enjoy you're experience here at the Dartmouth Spa.
We have been extremely busy since the refurbishment with so many people wanting to enjoy the brand new surroundings and with only a limited amount of 10 loungers available due to our size of spa, these can often be in use.
The lunch however is not served at 'the 19th hole' but in The Dartmouth bar and bistro, our dinning facility for all guests.
This does get shared by hotel guests ,golfers and spa guests as we are under the umbrella of' The Dartmouth Hotel ,Golf and Spa'
We do however tell all spa day guests that it is entirely up to themselves to wear their robes upstairs as they can change if they uncomfortable, which you were more than welcome to do so.
In regards to us being overpriced,i would very much disagree.
The most expensive spa day we have is just £69 per person this is for a 1 hr massage , 30 mins facial, full use of facilities,2 course lunch with a glass of bubbly and robes and flips flops.
In the area you would be expected to pay over double the price for this at the other spas.

Sam
