Phoned this spa to book a haircut after walking past and thinking it looked nice. The receptionist was rude and when I questioned the price of the haircut- ie is it less for short hair, wet cut, trim I was told bluntly that it was one price. Im still confused about that. She sounded like she didnt care and because of that I decided not to book and give them my money! Completely agreed with the bad customer service reviews on here!

I went with my 2 friends via voucher on 20th jan 2014 to Hammam to get 90mins scrub treatment. it was great as turkish experienced woman did our scrub and massage so i decided to go there again with my partner to treat him, we paid them directly this time in advance. The 90mins treatment they made you wait for 15mins than in steam room another 15 mins later they did a very quick scrub on us with no massage plus cold water they were using on us. (the new staff was not professional at all) it was a very non relaxing horrible experience. i tried to call and ask for manager they said his name is Adam and he is on holiday. They were not helpful on phone at all like they are not bothered.
i would definately not going there again.

I went for a Turkish Hammam It was very relaxing from the onset I was welcomed taken down and WOW it was not what I expected such a place in basement didn't expect it at all. I was taken to relaxation area for a few minutes think one needs it after a hectic travel through London then taken to change(This is why I gave 4*'s because it is small compared to the rest. Anyway that was dispelled by the ambiance of the rest it was beautiful. After the Sauna I was taken to the Hammam room where the whole experience was out of this world. The throwing of warm water on the body to the foam bath came out very happy. The Therapist was very nice and welcoming didn't winged or tried to short cut at all. I was then taken to the relaxation room and given herbal tea.... I wanted to tip the therapist but by then she was with next client.

I could go on but to end it for those who say the venue was dirty and not to standard, I liked it but I also met a TOP American footballer who came Friday before the big Wembley Games..... His wife gave him a Gift after attending herself he said his wife loved it so much that he got this as a lovely gift and he enjoyed it as well he said he will come back when he comes to London again.....

10/10 Marks

I will come back if I get a good deal again

I agree with one of the other reviewers: rude, unhelpful staff. I cancelled a booking with them for 2 people Hammam experience with enough notice not to incur a charge or lose my voucher. They dont man their phones all the time (That should have been my first clue about the level of service to expect) so I left a voicemail message. They claim they never got it and would not accept this was their error and cashed in my voucher! I was asked to provide my phone records as proof but unfortunately I had made the mistake of using my work phone so I couldnt. I would never go now regardless of how good the reviews are because never mind that they said I would lose my voucher, they were so rude and abrupt on the phone, I was appalled!Very short sighted behaviour from a business point of view.

I went to Crystal palace spa for a Hamam ritual. The place is ok and at the right price point, it has the potential to be a "go to place in London for a little me time or a girls day out" but they need to pay greater attention to details. The receptionist was not very welcoming to say the least, my therapist did not bother asking me about medical history or the level of pressure I would like and the TV was screaming in the relaxation area which made the overall experience just average.

The spa area was nice and totalled unexpected from the hair and beauty area upstairs. Our treatment started with a steam followed by the Turkish Hamman which was really nice - massage, scrub, mud mask. We then went back into the steam and finished feeling very relaxed. It was nice that I could do everything together with my friend. The only downside to the venue was the very small changing room, as we were getting dressed the next set of people were coming in so it was getting very crowded. That aside, a very nice experience.

Place is clean and well presented, the therapists were friendly and the treatment was lovely. Only minor gripe was that after the turkish bath treatment the massage took place on the marble slab. In other places I have moved to a massage table and maybe I am just boney but I did not find it very comfortable

You don't expect such a genuine Turkish bath experience from the outside (it is below a hairdressers & nail bar). Went after work with my boyfriend and it was a real relaxing treat - you have the all the facilities to yourself which is rare. Definitely recommend.

I bought a hammam voucher via living social for the Crystal Palace Spa as a wedding present however unfortunately when my friend returned from honeymoon, her father in law fell ill, and was diagnosed with cancer and sadly passed away last month. As you can imagine the voucher was not used and expired and both living social and crystal palace spa would not honour it. I was even asked to get proof of death! I think this is despicable as this would not have cost the spa any extra....

That's really bad and very disappointing. Sounds like customer care needs to be reviewed.

Today I had a turkish bath with massage and body mud mask. My therapist was amazing!!! I will absolutely go back. End of the day, it's all about how good they are. Her technique was better than the amazing one I had in Turkey at a 5 star hotel. Highly recommend! A stranger approached me on the street after and asked me out commenting on my skin!! :S Success!

To get you in the holiday spirit this is a fabulous start! Going down the stairs takes you into another world - it was just a very flowing, relaxing experience - aches and pains drifted away . It was fabulous; a refreshing cup of mint tea brought you back slowly into the real world .It's a must to wind down and start with a refreshed vigour. The staff could not have done more for us. A great experience

Great girls day out at the spa! Staff could not have been more friendly. As others note, a bit of a tardis, but don't be put off by the entry through the hair salon. Downstairs is lovely. And treatment was fantastic!

A luxurious and indulgent experience, I loved it! Extremely competent and polite therapist who made me feel relaxed from the moment I stepped in. I am not exactly a super model, so I am usually body- conscious but the lady who treated me was so nice and sweet that I did not feel embarrassed at all and I thoroughly enjoyed the treatment. The music, the smells, the décor, it all contributed to make this a very authentic experience. Book this as a special treat for yourself or a loved on, definetly worth every penny you pay.

Absolutely brilliant. I was a bit nervous at first - the outside doesn't look too encouraging - but get into the venue downstairs and you are in a whole new world. A bit thrown that the instructions didn't mention needing to bring a bathing suit, but luckily that seems to be a common occurrence and the staff had towels etc for modesty's sake.

The steam room was lovely, although 20mins was probably a bit too long. The treatment itself was great - a Turkish bath, followed by a scrub-down, a foam massage, more bathing, and finally a full-body mud mask. I almost fell asleep.

Highly recommended - I've already booked to return.

It was my first experience having a Turkish Hamman bath with a massage and it was certainly well worth it. It was an exhilarating experience being scrub from top to toe and having water pour over you was very cleansing. I would definitely have this experience/ treatment again. I felt really clean.

I had an aromatherapy massage at Crystal Palace with an offer and I have to say the massage was the best I have had in London, in fact I am considering going back at full price

I have to say though that the first impact was not the best (hence the 4 stars instead of the 5) and here is really an invite to potential clients not to let the front of the shop put you off: it resembles more a (low-key) nail bar than the reception of a proper spa and when I entered there were so many people that looked more like family/friends oppped by to say hi than clients that I cursed my constant search for deals.

Following the first not-so-good impact with the location and general mess I was taken downstairs by a very nice girl and there I entered the actual spa, which definitely looks and sounds (no noise) like a spa, is developped over a very big area and seemed very clean for what I could see

Moving on to the massage, strangely enough for an aromatherapy my therapist was a man, which at the beginning I found quite embarassing as I was covered just by a tiny cotton sheet, but the embarassement passed as soon as he started the massage and I realised he really knew what he wa doing, pressing the right points with the right strenght. Sometimes aromatherapy risks to be just a dip in oil but this time it was the relaxing, tension losening experience it is meant to be, definitely a find worth keeping in mind in London

My first hammam experience and it was a good one, fortunately. I waited for a while for the appointment but when it began, it was a blissful experience. Steam room + hammam + body mask = total relaxation. I felt energised and invigorated for the rest of the day, and had a good night sleep too. Shame the original price is a bit expensive so got to hunt for vouchers/deals again!

Crystal Palace's turkish hammam experience is mesmerisingly wonderful. An authentic turkish bath tucked away in the heart of central London, you're transported miles away from the hustle and bustle, and you emerge relaxed and jaw-droppingly smooth and clean.

It's been designed spectacularly and the treatment itself is amazing. My therapist was brilliant, courteous, polite and sweet but also damn good at her job. Staff at Crystal Palace are amazing too.

My only gripe with Crystal Palace is their changing/dressing facilities are a tight squeeze that essentially only one person at a time can use.

I can't recommend such an experience highly enough especially when you have to endure the filth you're engulfed with from public transport and outdoor pollutions. It's great to see an old, traditional ritual is alive and well, and can't be beaten by new spa treatments that emerge all the time, of which I've had many of.
