We had a great stay at the cleve spa. The staff did everything to make us feel welcome and were always at hand with any requests. Kerry our spa therapist was excellent! Only small disappointment was no open fire in the lounge/ bar area and no wifi in the room

My friend and I had a wonderful stay. Everyone was extremely welcoming and we really enjoyed the spa treatments.
The only let down was the house wine with the evening meal, however, the food was excellent overall.

We will definitely be booking again.

I took my mum for some relaxation time and have to say from the minute we arrived she started to. The facilities were excellent, really clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. My mum had a massage which she really enjoyed and all the other facilities were great. The light platter lunch and access to drinks all day were an added bonus.

Enjoyed a super weekend with a friend. It was beautiful and sunny, so they had taken loungers etc outside, where they offered pedicures. In between swims, we lounged around outside, reading and chatting. It was too hot to do too much steam/ sauna/ hot tub, ( steam room could possibly do with updating). Had a fabulous treatment. Nice food. Extremely relaxing. Staff very helpful and friendly. Would love to go again.

This was our first Spa experience, and we are very pleased. We used our Tesco Clubcard Vouchers via Wahanda for one of their special 2-night break deals.
The hotel is Charismatic, and has been sympathetically extended to accommodate extra bedrooms, conference rooms the Spa & Health & fitness suite.
The staff were incredibly welcoming, polite, genuinely happy and keen to make your stay as special as possible - within moments, they had remembered your name, your chosen treatment & it's time, which suite you are staying in, how many nights stay etc. etc.
The Spa has lovely views over the Devon Countryside, and the overall ambiance is quiet and reserved.
The quality & choice of meals are excellent, Breakfast has every option catered for, the 'light lunch' was a very filling Ploughmans salad, and the evening meals appear to be hand cooked individually to order, yet very little wait.
Water, orange & apple juice with assorted hot drinks are freely available all day.
The gym is very well fitted out and maintained, as is the jacuzzi, sauna & steam room and swimming pool, which is only monitored via remote CCTV.
Extensive redecoration & re carpeting has already been carried out, however, the standard of some of this is on the low side - tiles surrounding the swimming pool are anything but level, and although very clean, detracts somewhat to the overall impression, (as do the scaled-up shower heads from our room, the changing rooms, outside the steam room), which although are quickly cleared, give a sense of a little more maintenance being required.
We stayed in one of the larger 'Spa' bedrooms, with newer en-suite facilities - a larger room than standard, with elevated views over the Devon Countryside, but I could clearly hear the occupants in the room next door through the 'Not-so-well' blocked off doorway.
Having stayed at other hotels belonging to a 'chain' it was refreshingly clear that this was an independently owned & operated hotel which was reflected in the excellent value for money, and cheerful, unhurried manner of all staff.
I have no reservation in planning a return.

Surprisingly lovely - I went thinking it would be really just the leisure facilities at a hotel, but it was actually a "proper" spa with lovely relaxation areas and beautiful espa treatments. Really enjoyed our day and the "light bites" lunch was a lovely ploughmans style platter with crusty bread etc. The drinks (tea/coffee/juices etc) included were a nice extra too.

I booked this day for my sister and niece as I felt they needed a special treat this was the response I received-

What a perfect day. Pool so warm, jacuzzi hot, steam room...steaming and sauna a burning success. BUT the body massage WOW!!!! She did my feet instead of neck and my snore woke me (tehe). Lunch was tasty, tea etc available throughout and staff friendly and helpful. It was a truly marvellous day and a fantastic experience. Thank you so v much Helen xxx

I went with a friend for the Eat Sleep Treat package. On the positive side, the hotel staff were very friendly, the food was delicious and the pool and steam room were very nice. But this spa definitely has the feel of a formerly grand manor gone to seed. All the carpets look very outdated and quite grubby, the relaxation room was a bit dusty and overall it looks a little bit run down. It was also very cold throughout the spa (apart from in the pool room) and when we went for our treatments, both my friend and I were quite chilly which slightly marred the experience. The facial itself was very nice and relaxing, but it was cut short. We had bought a 60 min treatment, and mine ended after 40 mins. We also found it quite frustrating the spa only offer you 1 towel for your whole weekend, and charge you for the use of extra towels. If you go in the swimming pool and hot tub and then dry yourself, you will not have a dry towel to use for a shower at the end of the day. Despite definite room for improvement, we both really enjoyed our stay, and were made to feel quite welcome. The grounds are also gorgeous.

It wasn't a special occasion for us, We had just been working too many long hours, my partner working days, while I worked nights. When we passed each other on the stairs and we both thought we were being burgled, we knew it was time to get away and reconnect.
What can I say, the hotel was beautiful, we were met by chilled champagne and chocolate covered strawberries, the staff couldn't do enough to help us, without being obtrusive. The food was delectable and the desserts divine.
The next day we went down to the spa for our massage in the dual treatment room and then spent the day floating on a cloud of restfulness, peace and tranquility in gorgeous surroundings.
We held hands, and cuddled, ate together, slept together, and remembered why we always want to be together.
Now we're back on the wheel of work, but our memories of Cleve Hotel and Spa are still with us, and now we know it doesn't cost the earth to be pampered for a weekend, we have promised ourselves and each other that we wont leave it so long again.
I even recognised my husband on the stairs as he flitted past this morning.
Thank you Cleve Hotel and Spa,
Two very happy customers x
