I absolutely enjoyed feeling energetic after this therapy!
First things first, ring the bell(s) please be patient, Festus is on his way it may seem like eternity he is just making sure the appointments flow and that you have a good reception, introduction and his full attention.
You get into this tank ( felt like one of those Dr WHO get into the telephone booth ) in your birthday suit ( ladies do the hair appointment AFTER magnesium salt treatment ) you will have a soft pillow to support your head and some ear buds to keep out the salt and you will float instantly once you find a comfortable position.
Music in the back ground the tank closes its dark except for a little guiding red light at the other end of the tank- at your feet - the music fades away or you drift into sleep.... Please bear in mind it’s a tank not a swimming pool there is just enough salty solution to float on probably ankle high you will not be requiring your swimming skills. PLEASE please resist the urge or temptation to touch your eyes the stuff STINGS people!!
An hour later the music comes on or you slowly start waking up as the tank opens ( sooooo futuristic ) by the way you will have access in and out of the tank at the touch of a button at any time during the session in case you need to and its private to you only. Please feel free to bring your own gym bag - it’s the same stuff you need after a workout to look and feel good. Ladies and Men you will have an opportunity to blow dry your hair and use a mirror outside the treatment room.
I fell in and out of consciousness a couple of times and it was my first time , I didn’t feel prepared having done my hair over the weekend to the appointment and terrified that I do not know how to float but it was well WORTH the experience. Still had a hair appointment after and I didn’t need any floating or swimming experience.
I felt very energised, refreshed, rejuvenated, revitalised as if I had a new lease of energy. I felt better going out than when I came in and this was an 8 pm appointment on a Tuesday evening after work. The kind of feeling one should have every morning if you are well rested but even more.... you will need to HYDRATE after the treatment this means you will be extremely thirsty and will have no option but to look for water so PLEASE drink lots of water to replenish what the salty solution took away.

I would recommend this relaxation via floatation to everyone, a friend gifted the first one to me and I then bought 6 hour sessions that I have shared with others sparingly because am on my way back to the city relaxation centre.
Friendly Festus did say my to do list must start with ME !! (Profound)
Please don’t just take my word for it give it a TRY, what's the worst that can happen ?

NB. whatever needs changing is being done what that space and coming soon ..

I booked myself in for three hours of floating as a first timer, as I had a feeling I would love it. I was right; if only I could have, I would have stayed in the tank all day, it was absolutely fantastic!

I arrived to city relaxation centre early and was greeted by an extremely hospitable host, Festus. He welcomed me to a comfortable waiting area with a selection of refreshments. While waiting I flicked through an interesting book of which there was a selection, and admired the relaxing decor. Festus was a brilliant host and his passion for floatation and its benefits shone through, and ensured any need was catered for.

The floatation experience itself, is one which all people should try.... complete relaxation of mind and body effortlessly, stresses and strains of daily life melt away leaving one in a dream like state. This experience can not be summed up in a paragraph, and it is one which will be different for each individual. However the overall effect will be complete relaxation, which lasts, and is unlike any other experience. I personally found it almost out of this world... just superb. While floating the concept of time disappears and the experience itself is all the mind has to focus on, 3 hours flew by!!

This form of relaxation is for every one, my body has been left feeling completely rejuvenated, I only wish I had discovered it sooner. I will be returning soon however not alone, something this good has to be shared, and I will make sure my close friends and family get to experience this too, I literally can't wait!!

Atrocious!!
I've been floating since 1997 and this was; by far, the worst floating experience I have ever had. Thank goodness it wasn't my first as it would have put me off forever.
The place is shoddy, I was charged £2 extra for a damp towel in a cold wet room. The shower was a plastic broken mess.
I thought I would look past this but then the float itself was well below standard as the pod was obviously old and was letting lots of light and cold air in.
I was hot on my back, (the water was way too hot to compensate for the cold air coming in) and cold on my front and it wasn't dark in there.
Strangely though, even after such a terrible float, I still got the good feelings that come with floating but I would not recommend this place at all, there are others in london like floatopia and the one under the london bridge that are way better.

I have floated many times and normally love the experience. I was very disappointed with the centre, it seemed very unloved, old and in need of lots of attention in every area to bring it to an acceptable level. The float room itself was way too big and cold, the shower didnt work properly and looked very tired and dated, the ambiance of the place was all wrong and for £2, I was given a damp towel. The tank itself was old and the surrounding road and rail sounds intruded way too much, disturbing the float experience.

I travelled in the next day from Wimbledon, for my 2nd float of 3 I had purchased. Unfortunately, I got stuck at Waterloo where the jubilee line was closed temporarily. I arrived just 15 mins late and was told somewhat aggressively there was no way we could have our float as my friend and I were so late, despite having 45 mins of float time left.

Please, please do yourself a massive favour and go to a real floatation centre - this place is not worthy of the name and I am sure it is very damaging to the industry. I would strongly recommend you get some ideas from either floatopia in Chiswick, or Floatworks in London Bridge, who both provide an excellent all round experience.

I have floated 3 times now (twice with City Relaxation Centre) and each time have found it a challenging yet highly rewarding, profound and revitalising experience.

The manager, Festus is a very insightful and friendly host that will effortlessly alleviate any pre-float apprehensions, setting the perfect tone before you begin.

In the aftermath, I find myself incredibly energetic, clean and refreshed. My body so light that I could judge the weight of even my shirt or socks and deem them unnecessary, preferring to emerge like from a womb and attempting to buzz around Canary Wharf in my birthday suit. Of course, sanity prevails, at least for now...

To the uninitiated:

The purported benefits are numerous and incredibly diverse, but the actual feeling of floating and the gradual realisation of the complete relaxation it affords can be difficult to adapt to at first. In an odd sense, it may be uncomfortable for a while and I think this may account for some of the less positive reviews.
However, I implore you, if you possess the virtues of patience and persistance then you may begin to explore the deeper aspects of the experience, beyond the physical.

Good luck.

Festus, the host, was very welcoming. The reception area was very cosy-nice bit of music playing. There was also a selection of teas you can help yourself to.

When you start your flotation session, Festus shows you the room and explains everything that you need to know.

You are to have a shower before and after the float. Towels, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and deodrant spray are all provided.

Any valuables you have are all secure because you lock the door from the inside of the room that the floatation tank is in. The tank and shower are in the same room.

After you shower, you get into the tank-it looks futuristic and resembles a pod/egg shape. The water is at a perfect temperature. You lie down, there is relaxing music playing. You float and the music eventually fades. The music later returns to signal the end of your session.

When you are ready, you can press a button to close the lid of the tank. There is also a light switch to turn off the light that illuminates the pod.

If it's your first time, I recommend you use the floating cushion that is provided. This supports your head and neck. It makes it even more comfortable this way.

I also advise that you wear the provided earplugs-this reduces sound and also prevents salt entering your ear which otherwise may be slightly annoying later on in your day.

Take care with the water-try not to touch your eyes whilst in the tank. If the salt water does come into contact with your eyes, it may sting a little.

So, the actual experience-very relaxing, the hour I was in there passed quickly. When it's your first session, your body is becoming used to the unfamiliar environment. I expect it will take about 2-3 sessions until you can start to let go.

My intentions for the floatation therapy are to relax and in time, start to turn off my conscious and instead enable my subconscious to assume a more dominant position. (youtube search: 'joe rogan flotation tank'-that is pretty much my motivation for trying this out!)

I am looking forward to my next session. I'll write another review after my second experience.

Wow - this is one of the best things I have ever done! I was a bit skeptical to begin with, slightly scared even... but the whole experience is something out of this world, I went there with only 3 hours sleep after a weary tiring week - an hour later I emerged fully refreshed and amazed at how I had not discovered something so amazing before... A phenomenal experience for anybody who wants to relax and feel like they are on holiday despite a hectic lifestyle :)

I highly recommend you at least TRY this - you will be amazed and rejuvenated!!

I regularly visit the City Relaxation Centre for floats between 1.5 - 3 hours. The atmosphere is very welcoming and perfect for relieving the stresses of both every day life and physical activity.

Festus (the owner) adds an extra layer of positive vibe to the place.

Before your float you get to unwind in the comfort of the waiting lounge, furnished with plants, comfortable sofas and an array of refreshments.

The float rooms are spacious and quiet, fitted with a high quality rainfall shower and stocked with all necessary toiletries.

The tank itself lets in no light and is both comfortable and hygienic.

I usually purchase in bulk, the prices are reasonable and there's always a deal on to make it more affordable.

Do your mind and body a favor, book a session.

I've floated many times before but this was my first experience at this centre. I found the entire experience very calm and unhurried. Festus - the jolly man whose venture this is, was very welcoming and made my time there very comfortable. The room was much larger than what I am used to when going for a float and there was a pleasing array of bathroom essentials, even luxuries to help yourself to. There was a hot drink and opportunity to chill upstairs after the float. Excellent service and value. I'll be going back for more.

This place is awesome! I had sleep deprivation issues but after coming to a session in the flotation chamber it made ALL the difference!! 1hr session in flotation = a VERY GOOD nights sleep!! Now I'm all smiles thanks to the relaxation centre and the welcoming hospitality of none other than liaison officer Mr Festus.

I have experienced floation for an hour in another centre in January this year and loved it, so after that trial I was eagerly hunting similar deals on the internet. City Relaxation Centre had an offer for 3 hours, and it's located very close to my work place so I immediately grabbed it.
I've savored each hour and anticipated joyfully my next one in a month time. You know, with how you keep little squares of chocolate for later?
After those three hours, I continued going to City Relaxation Centre and made it a regular monthly yummy treat and I started recommending it to my friends for the following reasons:
1. attention to detail and committment for providing a great customer experience; I can relax not only in the tank but from the moment I get in the centre until long time after I live it. I know I will have at hand anything I need to enjoy myself: a cup of hot green tea or cold water, chill out music, fresh clean towels, fitflops, cream, shower gel, shampoo, hair dryer, brushes
2. the owner is very competent and passionate about the works of the mind; that shows in the additional value he provides by offering free guidelines on how to prepare for a floatation session, so I can relax deeper and get maximum benefits from it.
Going regularly enabled me to access at an experiential level more effective ways of being: I relate in a more relaxed and resourceful manner to circumstances that I would usually find stressful, I'm more creative and enjoy living in the present, moment by moment.
It's like fitness for the soul :)
I highly recommend it!

I have been going to the centre for quite some time now. I have been to various floatation centres in Europe and London and this is the best centre to my liking because it is convenient to reach - just a few minutes from the DLR station, it's clean and quiet and has got this special atmosphere where I can relax even before and also after the float. The staff is very friendly and has a deep and thorough understanding of floating and its benefits. I am always very much looking forward to my next float at this lovely centre.

It was only a little difficult to find the first time but I have poor navigational skills anyway. That and the Canary Wharf area is not familiar to me. Since then its been easily to find. The genlteman on reception is very friendly and welcoming; many times i find myself having a friendly chat with him whilst waiting for my turn on his luxury sofas. He always explains in detail how to make best use of floating for my lower back pains. I have been there a few times now and i love the relaxing atmosphere.

It is nice to know that you can enjoy such simple pleasures for such a great price. As a mother of 2 to just be given time to relax properly was heavenly. Im going back again next week with a few friends.

Where to start? without wishing to sound rude I am surprised this place is still in business. The ambience is non existent - it's basically an old office, making it a million miles away from what is acceptable these days for a health / spa facility.

The waiting room though spacious was very cold, with the tanks being small and in a large room, again making in chilly and uninviting. I could also hear the proprietor on the phone whilst I was it the tank which is far from ideal when partaking in what is supposed to be an isolation experience.

I would also suggest that the location is particularly difficult to get to

All in all a far from positive experience.

I found this place last year, after going to floatworks for about 8 years. I'm suprise that other reviews mention the manger as unfriendly - I have never been meet with anything than a warm smile. You always feel like your greeting a good friend. Unlike Floatworks where I found the staff very rude, but as a paying member I just ignore them.
I like the fact I don't need to go into zone one - I have a great big room, I'm never rushed to come out, even though I make a point of not keeping the next person waiting. It's nice to know you can take your time. There's a great choice of tea to drink after, nice sofas, you can relax and leave when your ready.
I've been telling all my friends about it, I just need to get them there. :-)

I bought a floatation session for myself and one as a treat for my mum who suffers from serious osteoarthritis, which effects her hip, back, knees and ankles, and she is in constant pain from this. I hoped the session would help to relieve some of the pain she is in. At first she was a bit dubious and wasn't too sure if she wanted to go ahead with the session, but the owner was very accommodating and attentive to her needs. He explained the process to her and the benefits she would gain from the session, which reassured her and gave he r the confidence to go ahead with the float.

She was amazed by the whole experience! She said that during the 20min journey there she had such a pain in her back sitting in the car she couldn't wait to get out. But after the floatation session the pain had gone and the journey back home was fine! She also slept better than she had done for weeks that night! Since that session she has made floatation at The City Relaxation Centre part of her regular treatment.

As for my experience, I do quite a lot sports and suffer from the odd injury here and there. I found that floating is the only thing that I have tried that relaxes almost every muscle in your body - its amazing! I've been recommending it to everyone since my first session!

The manager is a lovely chap but there's something not quite right about lots of things at City Relaxation, too many aspects irritate and are far from relaxing. The location isn't that handy unless you work in Docklands. Sadly I have to say that the customer experience at Floatworks is much better. Floating itself is still a great activity and I would still recommend giving it a go anywhere you can get a good deal.

I booked the treatment at 17:00, on that day I had arrange to leave work early at 16:00 in order to avoid the rush hour and so that I could make it on time for this appointment. However, because the place was a bit hidden away and I had trouble finding it I didn't end up getting there until 17:05. When the person from The City Relaxation Centre came to answer the door he told me that because I was late, even though it was only 5 minutes for an hours session that he had already offered my time to a walk-in customer. Also stating that he was not sure whether I would be another no show customer again, which angered me slightly especially as I had taken the effort to arrange this booking and take an hour of my time for it. Personally I think its wrong of them to just offer my appointment to someone else as its my time that's booked out for an hour. I knew and understood the terms and conditions regarding being late, which should result in my appointment time being cut short and I was prepare for them to do that as it was my fault for being late, but I was not expecting to be told that my appointment was given to someone else when I was only 5 minutes late!

A very very negative experience. I am a long time flotation tank user and was attracted to this by the bargain deal offered (£17), but I ended up regretting the whole experience and the journey to get there. A negative experience made worse by the very unprofessional and unpleasant staff. Nothing at all comparable to the excellent service and professionalism you find at Floatworks near London Bridge.
