I was greeted in a friendly way however my therapist was delayed getting to me and then I wanted to nip to the bathroom and so my treatment which was due to start at 5pm didn't start til 5:10. I'd booked an hours massage which was decent, a lady called Karen who was pleasant except she finished the treatment at 5:53 - there was a clock on the radio in my treatment room. This means I had paid for an hour massage but actually only really received 40 minutes. I mentioned this upon payment and they offered me an additional 15 minutes if I book again. Not sure if want to now though

Dear Gemma,
Glad to know that you are pleased with the massage.
As the therapist had a rather tight schedule yesterday, she had to finish on time for the next customer coming at 6pm. We normally arrange the time according to that using the massage room with about 5 minutes as buffer time. We would make better arrangement to ensure a satisfactory treatment for the customers. Do come for the additional 15-minute massage and try the reflexology.

Regards,
China Health Spa Chiswick Team

Excellent deep tissue massage by Sharon who instinctively knew were all the pain points were and managed to in-knot them.

If you book through Wahanda the value is so good that you may as well give it a try! My 45 minute massage was very relaxing and I would book another here again.

On arrival they were very polite and showed me to the massage room. The room itself was like most massage rooms but it was quite cold. The masseuse started on my legs which I have never experienced before despite numerous deep tissue massages at other venues. However, I decided to just try and relax and enjoy it! 15mins in to a 90min massage the masseuse had finished with my legs. This struck me as strange due to both the time remaining and not having really felt any benefit. Very little oil had been used and none of my muscles had been worked hard enough or in the right areas. The masseuse then moved to my back where she spent a long time doing general strokes and very little involved in a normal 'deep tissue' massage. The breaking point for me was when I asked her to start going into my muscles around my shoulders (the real reason behind my massage) she dug her nails in so hard each time that I felt a sharp cutting sensation. I asked the massage to be stopped and left after 30mins very unsatisfied. I have never done this before in a massage and have never experienced anything like it.

Dear customer,
We are grateful for your comments so we know how we can do better, especially when it is about the massage skills of our therapists. Each therapist's strokes vary and a full body massage, especially one as long as 90-minute, may take different forms including where to start, which body areas to cover and focus on and how long for each of the areas. Your therapist is an experienced masseuse with solid knowledge in physiotherapy. Based on some medical justifications she has learnt, she always begins with strokes from the feet upward to the upper body and to the head if the customers do not have any specific preference. We also had a skill check of her deep tissue massage and it is fine. Perhaps she needs to refine the interaction with the customers in order to accommodate their preferences.
We sincerely offer you a free massage as compensation and to rebuild your confidence in us. Do call to book the session with your name.

Regards,
China Health Spa Chiswick Team

Great massage that was vigorous and relaxing at the same time. It was painful at times and it would've been nice to know which body part corresponded to which pain. If there's no explanation it should be called simply foot massage. We should also get a leg massage with it.

Very relaxing massage. Don't expect a luxurious experience but you'll get a very effective way of relaxing. Only disappointment was the oil was taken off me by scrubbing my skin with very rough paper that felt like sandpaper. She should have done that only with the hot towel she used later.

Very friendly service. Not the most luxurious salon, certainly didn't feel like a 'spa' but the massage was gone and good value. Would go again as a bargain and a 'pick me up' but not for a more indulgent treatment

I really enjoy their massage. My favourite is deep tissue massage. On the last visit I had a hot stone massage and I very much liked it. I am planning another visit as the masseur Sandy is really good and always delivers the best so I'm never disappointed. The salon itself needs a bit updating as it is not as stylish and as well done to the standards to Chiswick Spas as I would expect but overall it is nice and tidy and I like it so far.

Cold (external rear doors wide open at 8pm), bright overhead lighting, a request for payment as soon as I walked in and paper thin walls so that I could hear everything happening in the building (toilets, going up and down stairs and the client next door). The massage itself was ok but the experience was not at all relaxing. Would not recommend.

I am very impressed and very pleased I have found this place with this amazing and skilful therapist Sandy. I was in a lot of pain and discomfort around my shoulders and neck when I went for the deep tissue massage. I absolutely loved it. She managed to easy my aches and generally improved my mood. I am an athlete and I train a lot which often gives me a lot of tension in my muscles and not mention the regular stress. I have now found my favourite therapist so I highly recommend her, go and find out for yourself. I am planning to be their regular customer. Ula

Firstly, I am not directing this feedback as a negative towards the therapist as an individual; but as part of the package of the business. As I walked through the door I was greeted by the receptionist firstly establishing who I was and in the very same breath, asking me for payment, and believe me when I say I had not even reached the reception desk yet I was almost still closing the door behind me. I had booked on line and chose to pay at the venue and this seemed to be her main concern, that I paid for my 'yet to have treatment'; she hadn't even enquired how I was, or at least pretending it was nice to meet me. Once I gave her my cash, having done so whilst telling her how cold her greeting was demanding for money in such a way; she then went on to flap about not having the correct change. Have you noticed my issue so far? we are still focused on money here, instead of a healthy approach to my being relaxed before going for my treatment.
Okay so I wanted to move on from this so told her to keep the change; I am sure if I had offered an underpayment of a few pounds she would not have done the same.
On to the therapy which was my reason for going there: the room horrid; the floor of which I stood on once footwear removed was dusty, there was a mat on one side of the couch but was near the wall and had lots of dirt marks; I had no new client consultation except for a general inquiry if I had any pain. So I told of my pain areas that I wanted an additional focus on. And that is what I got. And yes, I could feel the amount of work my body needed with lots of blockages and tensions so the therapist did have her work cut out. In fairness to the actual treatment, I am aware places often use same names for products but the styles vary. This to me was very 'sports massage' based where the area of pain is focused on and not much else. My expectation of a therapeutic massage was that it would include a full body - especially when I did enquire from them prior to booking as to what was involved. I was told it was a body massage 'specifically using their Chinese oils' [if not liked they would substitute it for baby oil]. The therapist suggested use of Hot Stones on a particular problem area which I thought to be an additional bonus at this point - great idea the only thing was she had to break the flow of the treatment and leave the room to collect the stones. Having qualified in hot stones myself [yes up to this point I had not mentioned I am a holistic health therapist as I didn't want my opening feedback to be seen as one sided/biased but from a customers point of view] I was horrified how 'hot' the stones were when first and second attempt to use them was unbearable. However, they were nice once at a correct temperature. To add, the therapist and I decided I could do with extra time, so she went off to ask if we could extend my treatment - we could, that was the great bit, but it would cost me the full cost of a new booking for a half hour appointment. I was a little shocked at this - but this was solely me now basing it on how I offer prices and how I treat clients. I would have been more forthcoming in wanting to keep both parities happy!
I really should end here as I don't want to now seem like a hard customer to please. I just was so disappointed that in my search to find a reliable treatment I could have regularly [to help keep me in good shape whilst practicing] I was faced with this. As a therapist, I would never offer a service in this way and this has been the worse I have come across so far. Yes I am basing this entirely on my single experience and others of you may have had a good one but for me, I will never have a second visit there so can go only by my one time experience. They did nothing at all to win me over as a returning client. In fact, I did not feel like a client, it was a bit more like popping into the second hand store and seeing what I come away with. Oh well.

With regards to the comment made below about an aspect of my review; I would appreciate not being made out to be a liar. I attended the appointment and I know what treatments I was given. I am a therapist myself and fully aware of the varied equipments used during a treatment. It may well be that the premises does not / is not covered to offer dedicated hot stones massage however, hot stones were introduced into my therapeutic massage treatment. As you have identified yourself as CHSCHISWICK this implies to me that you are connected to the spa! If that is the case, how very insulting that you do not find it within yourself to make any reference to the overall non good service I received.

Dear Helen,

We are terribly sorry about your unpleasant visit last time. Please also accept our apology if the previous comment has upsetted you and we don't mean to be rude. After reading your review, we have talked to the therapist to understand more about her treatment on that day. Officially, China Health Spa does not provide hot stone massage. The therapist has various treatment skills and she made the offer on her own behalf. She did so after consulting the customers and also based on her professional judgement that hot stones may bring a more effective result. If you did not feel comfortable about the heat of the stones, you should have made the therapist aware at that point.

Customers are always welcomed to extend the treatment time as long as it doesn't clash with the therapists' following appointments. We would first let the customers know the charge before the extension. The Wahanda online discounts are not applicable to such extension, so we are sorry that we have to charge based on the regular price for it.

We are currently working on improving the overall ambience, the cleanliness and the massage products used in treatments. To fix your first impression, we would like to offer you a compensation to make you more satisfied. Please feel free to contact us any time. We hope to see you again.
