Hello, I’m Ali (Alistair), a counsellor and psychotherapist providing private one-to-one sessions in Islington, N1. This is a non-judgemental and safe environment for you to talk about anything you want to. Whatever you are going through, I can help you make better sense of things, supporting you to make the changes you are looking for to live your life more the way you want to.
Outside of private practice I work on a charity helpline, volunteer at an NHS counselling service and also at a local resident counselling centre. I am in my fourth year of a four-year doctorate in Existential Psychotherapy, which provides me with a philosophical outlook on life and the inevitable struggles within it. As part of my doctorate I am conducting research on experiences of ex-military personnel returning to civilian life.
Working across this scope has given me experience of a broad range of people and issues, so I can support you in whatever you are wanting therapy for. I am particularly well equipped in supporting people through anxiety issues, stress, bereavement, crisis of values/beliefs, low/depressive mood, low self-esteem, panic attacks and relationship issues.
I work from as few as six weekly sessions up to a period of years, meaning we can tailor our time to meet your needs, whether short or long-term. I am available in the daytime as well as in the evening to accommodate normal working hours. While I have experience of working with children and young people I currently work exclusively with adults and on an individual basis.
I am member MBACP of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and I work in accordance with their policies and procedures as well as having a strong sense of my own personal ethics.
