Wahanda meets... Lee Stafford

Award winning hairdresser Lee Stafford began his career cutting hair in his mum’s living room in home town Leigh-on-sea. Discovering a real passion for helping people find beautiful styles to complement their features and personality, he took his talents to the Kings Road and the US before coming home and claiming the title Men’s British Hairdresser of the Year in 1998 and Most Influential Hairdresser of the Year in 2002.

Lee’s success gave him the opportunity to do something he’d always dreamed of, launching his own product range in 2001 but, most importantly, to continue doing what he loves most, cutting hair. When we caught up with him recently we were delighted to get the chance to ask him about his award winning career, celebrity clients and, above all, how to control our hair…...

Wahanda meets... Shavata Singh

Eyebrow expert. Grooming guru. The authority on arches. After 25 years in the industry, Shavata Singh has earned all of these titles so it’s no wonder that her name has become the first word in eyebrow maintenance. While working at Michaeljohn in Mayfair, Shavata plucked up the courage to tell the Vogue editor whose legs she was waxing that she had bad eyebrows. After transforming them, she was featured prominently in the magazine and the rest, as they say, is history.

Shavata went on to open a concession at the Urban Retreat in Harrods and another 20 around the country. Earlier this summer, she launched her flagship store the Shavata Brow Studio in Knightsbridge. With business booming and brows bigger than ever, she took a minute away from her busy schedule to talk to us about brow...

BeautyMART stocks an edited selection of products at varying price points, believed to be the very best by the expert pair. When we visited the store in Harvey Nichols earlier this year, we were intrigued by some of the products that made the cut, so when we caught up with Marketing Director Millie to chat about her own beauty picks and tricks, we made sure we found out just what it takes to make it onto...

You’ve undergone a big career change in the last few years. How did that come about?

I retired from football in 2005 and found myself in the corporate world. For four years everything went well, but the change got me off the pitch and into a lot...

Wahanda meets... James Read

What James Read doesn't know about 'tan fakery' isn't worth knowing. With over twelve years of industry experience, his guru status has seen him travel the world bronzing some of the most famous bodies in show-business. Soon to launch a number of tanning studios and with additions to his own product range in the works, we chatted to him about contouring, counteracting product build up and the spray versus self-tan debate...

What are the three most important steps in achieving a flawless, natural-looking tan?

Exfoliate 48 hours prior to tanning and just before you apply the product, run a Nivea Visage wipe over the wrists, ankles and under the armpits, to remove any residue.
Wax or shave 24 hours before tanning.
Moisturise and apply extra to hands, knees and elbows, which can get very...
