From: Top to Toe,
I think many of us can easily say we sometimes neglect our skin during the dreary winter months. Our poor faces often have to deal with extreme changes in temperature - one minute skin is getting battered by ice-cold rain, and the next greeted by a rush of warm central heating. It’s no surprise that dealing with the elements leaves skin dehydrated and dull.
With my admittedly neglected, post-winter skin, I headed to Adamina Spa of Kensington, leaving behind the manic bustle of the city. The Spa has recently been re-launched as a Concept Spa by professional skincare treatment and product brand [comfort zone] – and I couldn’t wait to give it a go...
Situated in a former bank on the west end of Kensington High Street, Adamina Spa hit me as looking incredibly chic and trendy from the moment I walked in. A bit wet and miserable from getting caught outside without an umbrella, I began to chill out soon after stepping over the threshold into the beautiful boutique-esque surroundings. While I was filling in my details at reception, it occurred to me just how quiet the spa was. After multiple noisy tube stops and changes, the tranquil silence made the venue feel like an oasis of calm.
I was shown down some winding stairs to the changing room, which had an adjoining steam room to use and a relaxation room next door stocked with a variety of herbal teas, magazines and comfortable chairs. After changing into a robe and slippers, I acquainted myself with some [comfort zone] products, using the makeup remover and cleansing milk offered. The changing room was beautifully decorated - from the stylish posters on the wall to the ornate furniture, which made me feel as though I had been transported to a bathroom in 1920’s Paris.
The treatment room for my Mediterranean Aromasoul Ritual massage had low, relaxing lighting and soft natural music - reflecting the treatment, which is inspired by the waves of the Mediterranean ocean.
The treatment first involved a scrub, which was massaged on by the therapist and which I was then requested to wash it off in the shower. My skin felt wonderfully smooth already when I returned to the treatment room for the rest of my massage. It felt great to get rid of dull skin all over my body, and it was a great preparation for the rest of the blissful treatment.
The massage was incredibly soothing- not too hard but firm enough to have an effect on my muscles. Oregano, basil and lemon are blended into the massage oil to detoxify and calm. Calm I certainly was - I may have nearly nodded off once or twice during the 60 minute treatment! Therapist Iren was wonderful and very enthusiastic about the benefits of the treatment - she loved the [comfort zone] products and was extremely well informed.
After my massage, I relaxed for a few minutes with a mug of peppermint tea before being called for my facial. The treatment room was equally as relaxing as the first, and the heated massage bed is probably the most comfortable thing I’ve ever laid on! Therapist Magda looked at my skin under a bright light, pinpointing problem areas. My skin was deemed to be the dreaded combination - oily T-zone with dry areas. Magda decided a Hydramemory facial was in order - a deeply nourishing treatment to rehydrate skin and prevent moisture loss. The 60 minute facial flew by and by the time it was finished, I felt ready for bed! I left the treatment room feeling utterly relaxed with rejuvenated skin.
I couldn’t stop touching my skin - every part of my body felt soft and refreshed. The lingering smell on my body from the massage oil was amazing - not too strong but deliciously fresh and natural,. I almost didn’t want to shower it off the next morning!
The venue was lovely, I truly felt like I was being thoroughly pampered and left with a renewed sense of wellbeing. There are a whole host of different treatments on offer - definitely something to suit everyone. The [comfort zone] products were outstanding, and I can’t wait to return to try something else!
