Spa hen parties – the new way to celebrate

Spa hen parties – the new way to celebrate

Forget the L plates, sashes and fancy dress – the new way to wave goodbye to the single life is to don a robe and slippers and head to the spa. A mini break complete with pampering, bubbles (in the hot tub and your glass) and plenty of girl talk makes a memorable hen-do for all the right reasons.

Whether you’re a hen or the bride-to-be, spas are the versatile venue of choice when it comes to planning a hen party. Whatever your budget, we’ve rounded up the best ways to unwind and have a great pre-wedding celebration - all you have to do is kick off those wedding planner heels and put your feet up…

Afternoon tea and pampering

Push the boat out with afternoon tea at the Chuan Spa at The Langham in London. Situated just off Regent Street, this is the ideal place to drop those shopping bags and relax. Arrive at 11am to explore the many different facilities including salt sauna and aroma steam rooms before settling down for a Chuan harmony massage and bliss facial. After a mini Chinese tea ritual, afternoon tea will be served for you and your hens. Tea-rific...

Twilight experience

Don’t worry, we’re not talking vampires. A twilight experience is an evening spa treat and a great alternative to a night out on the town. As the sun goes down, take a dip in the pool or relax in the moonlight while the bubbles of the Jacuzzi (and maybe a glass of fizz) help to relax you. From Hampshire to Cumbria, all six of the Shire hotels and spas offer a Twilight package - which includes full use of the spa facilities from 3pm, afternoon tea, a fish pedicure and a choice of an ESPA back treatment or ESPA facial to beautify the body before the all important day.

Spa day

Take a day off from hectic wedding planning and book a full spa day for quality time with your girls. With four locations across the UK, Champneys’ spa days are famed for their spot-on service. For treatment-filled fun, the Top to Toe Day adds all the necessary finishing touches to your bridal beauty regime with a relaxing facial, luxury massage, manicure and pedicure. With full use of all the facilities, marvel at the stunning surroundings before heading off for a quick game of tennis and a detox in the sauna and steam rooms.

Spa break

Have a grown-up sleepover with your hens on an overnight spa break for the ultimate girl’s escape. The Titanic Spa in Huddersfield is the UK’s first eco spa and provides a more than suitable setting for bonding over beauty treatments. With 54% off, their spa break package delivers a first class menu of treatments; choose either a scalp massage or an Elemis collagen hand and foot treatment to de-stress, as well as testing out the crystal steam room, aromatherapy room, foot baths, plunge pool, ice baths, experience showers, mud chambers and hammam. With lunch, a two course dinner and breakfast included, all you need to do is bring your chosen loved ones and prepare to be pampered. You can even book directly online, so get the diary out and start setting the other important date in your life…

And one for the men…

Well, we couldn’t leave the stags out could we? Available across the country, 36 Bannatyne Spas offer the Men’s MOT Spa Day including a deluxe deep tissue massage and full use of all the facilities. From having a quick workout at the gym or trying a boxing class to relaxing in the swimming pools and saunas, make sure the men aren’t behaving badly and send the groom and co off for some grooming.
