From: Spa Beauty Geek,
Need to buff before you start tanning this summer? We've been fans of microdermabrasion for years and love a trip to the salon for the treatment, but now we can do it at home.
This nifty little gadget from Beauty Works exfoliates dead skin cells away from the top layer of the epidermis to reveal new skin underneath. The microdermabrasion action is said to encourage scars, acne marks and fine lines to become less visible, and can help to even out skin tone.
As the cells are gently removed and blood circulation is encouraged to the area, the exfoliating movement promotes the renewal of cell tissue and help to improve overall skin complexion - obviously, this sounded good to us so we couldn't wait to give it a go.
The at home exfoliating system by Beauty Works is designed to be compact and easy-to-use. As you open the lid, the three different heads and wire attachment are stored compactly inside, while a large mirror makes it easy to see what you’re doing.
The heads are numbered with either 1, 2 or 3 - with 1 being the softest and suitable for delicate areas such as the under-eye area and 3 being perfect for hands and body. Each head is rough to the touch with its diamond-tipped heads, yet the effect on the face is soothing rather than sharp.
The LCD control panel makes the usage of the exfoliating machine as simple as could be. Simply switch on, select the area you wish to treat and voila!
This effortless treatment is a great way to deeply exfoliate and reveal new, healthy skin. This can be used before fake tanning for a smooth and even result without a build-up of product sticking to dry areas, or just to give your face and body a refreshing scrub.
Best used on clean skin that’s free of make-up and not been freshly moisturised, this kit is straightforward to use. As you connect the strength of exfoliating head that you’d like to use, simply switch on the machine and use the LCD panel to select which areas are suited with your particular head. Press start, and place on the designated area and let the heads do their magic - the vibrating movement will gently push the tool around your skin and you can press down if you want to be a bit more firm. The machine will get to work, automatically stopping after the required amount (and briefly halfway for a few seconds on the cheek and hand treatments to give you the same amount of time on each side) so just lay back and relax.
One word of warning - as I gently rotated the heads across my forehead I got a little distracted by something else, and accidently got the head caught in a couple of strands of hair. It didn’t hurt too much but it was a bit of an unwelcome shock, so I’d recommend tying hair back fully and wearing an alice band or using grips to pin back any flyaway hairs.
After using the exfoliating heads all over my face, I have to say my skin felt noticeably smoother. Of course ,it doesn't compare to a trip to a salon for a professional microdermabrasion treatment, but for an at-home kit this does the job well enough instead of filling your bathroom shelf with skin scrubs.
With its RRP usually at £89.99 this is an expensive way to enjoy a bit of exfoliation, but at our offer price of £45 it might be a good investment so you can treat yourself between salon visits and banish dry skin. Requiring next to no effort at all, it’s an easy-to-use beauty gadget that makes at-home pampering that little more interesting...
