So here we are at the end of the Wahanda Beach Body Competition. It doesn't look like there is a winner (officially) because the scale in the office is so inconsistent that no one can *really* be the winner. According to the scale, I lost 3kg and about 1% of body fat.
Walking away from the competition, I am feeling really proud of my gym efforts. It now feels like a routine rather than a chore and I feel a bit lost on the days which I don't workout. My efforts even inspired my husband to join my gym so now I have a weekend workout buddy. I haven't been able to convince him to come to Yoga with me yet, but I will keep trying.

As it goes, I spent week 3 of the 4 week Beach Body Challenge on the beach. Having drank my body weight in Sangria and San Miguel last week, I have some serious catching up to do this week.
The week before I went on holiday I was right on track with my workouts. I did pilates, strength training, core exercises, various cardio, and a circuit training class which would wear out a Marine.
Yesterday I tried out Bootcamp Pilates and I could not believe how challenging it was! They use Pilates Reformer machines which consist of springs, straps, a moving carriage, and an adjustable footbar. The added resistance and balancing needed to do the pilates moves made this an extremely challenging workout. I have not felt that fatigued during a workout since track practice at the University of Colorado...
Today for lunch a little group of people from the office embarked on an adventure to Whole Foods for lunch. They have great salad bar, hot food bar, and cold food bar which is typically filled with loads of fresh veggies, salads, and organic proteins.
After picking up my tofu, Greek salad, and barley salad, I decided to find a little afternoon snack. The first snack I saw (which weren't potato chips) were Tyrrell's Alternatives Habas Fritas (lightly spiced cooked broad beans). I had a look at the ingredients and didn't spot any chemicals so I figured they were a good snack.
Once I got back to the office I peeked at the nutrition information for these little treats. After doing the math, I realized that the small bag of Habas Fritas have over 1000 calories…and 57 grams of fat! I'm not...
My workouts have gone to plan, I've done 3 hours of Iyengar Yoga, 1.5 hours of cardio, 30 minutes of weight lifting, and 1 hour of pilates. All of which at the fabulous Virgin Active.
Although it's not always easy to drag myself out of bed, I find exercising in the morning is the best way to get it done. It seems whenever I plan on working out in the evening something else comes up, whether it's going out for dinner, working too late, or simply not feeling up to it. This week my goal is to ramp up the morning workouts and not miss a single day!

9 May 2011, Day 1 of 4 week diet plan
I am taking part in the Wahanda Staff Beach Body campaign so I have that extra motivation to take my workouts and diet more seriously.
I currently workout 4x/week including running, Pilates, yoga, and various aerobic classes. I used to run competitively and I would love to get back to that level of fitness.
My current diet is great at mealtime, but falls a bit short in between. I have a weakness for bowls of chips at the pub, ice cream bars, and any other goodies which come into my line of sight.
I am going to follow a Vegetarian Whole Foods diet. I will also up my working out to 6 hours/week. Hopefully this will leave me feeling great and I won't even miss the junk food!
