There’s more to life than money, and it seems that a new survey carried out by YouGov Sixth Sense has proved it so. They found that although 84% of Brits’ chief worries are centred in the economy, 73% of them are also having a serious think about their health and fitness. As a standalone figure, this is perhaps not that shock-inducing, and yet it trumped pressing issues such as employment and accommodation in the polls. It seems it’s the young ones bumping up the figures, with 73% of 16-24 year old men and 71% of women of the same age citing fitness levels as a major concern.

So what are we doing about it? Funny you should ask, as there is also evidence to suggest that not only do us Brits want to be fitter, but we’re actually starting to enjoy exercise. Men aged 16-24 are more likely to enjoy working out, and more than half of those asked alleged that their gym experience is sometimes or always enjoyable. But exercise isn’t the only factor in fitness, and don’t our Brits know it. No longer is the bin crammed full of fast food cartons: cooking is now seen as ‘sometimes or always’ enjoyable. 67% of women and 62% of men now see it as less of a chore.

Looking to the future, 47% of British adults aim to do more exercise and get fitter in the coming 5 years, 35% want to achieve their ideal weight and 31% fancy eating more healthily. These figures are promising when compared to more materialistic aspirations, with only 20% wanting a new car, 19% a bigger home and 11% wishing to holiday more adventurously. We reckon that a pretty high percentage of you reading this are keen to get fit too – because Wahanda is not just about pampering.
