Dark skies and cold winter weather can leave us all feeling a bit down in the dumps this time of year. Here at Wahanda when we’re feeling a bit low there’s one thing we know is guaranteed to perk us up: a make over.
Sometimes it’s just a manicure or new shade of lipstick. In more extreme cases it might be a whole new haircut and in those really extreme cases it’s a £5.5m full on luxury makeover.
That’s what’s set to happen at Mottram Hall this year. It is hoped that a £5.5m refurbishment will transform the 18th Century Georgian country house into one of the leading resorts in the north of England.
The luxury makeover will include a refurbishment of all the bedrooms, the introduction of lake-view bedrooms with private patios, an optional butler service and an outdoor thermal village set to open in early 2013.
The refurbishment follows renovations earlier this month including the opening of a spa complete with gym, spinning and dance studio, seven Espa treatment rooms, relaxation area, whirlpool, sauna and steamroom and 17m swimming pool as well as the new Carrington grill restaurant and cocktail bar.
Also next year the Cheshire resort plans to open a set of conference suites as well as opening another brasserie and making improvements to the golf course and the clubhouse.
Managing director James Stewart is leading the makeover and said: "We are putting luxury back to the top of the list at Mottram and our new look leisure facilities will serve residents in the area, as well as visitors, as an ultra-modern retreat".
