With a net worth somewhere between $2.9 billion and $7 billion, a reputation as one of the greatest real estate entrepreneurs in the United States and a starring role in a hit NBC show (we’ll give you a clue: ‘You’re fired!’), the infamous Donald Trump has a lot to be proud of. In our opinion, however, there’s one achievement that trumps them all – sorry – and that’s the stunning Turnberry Resort in Ayrshire. One of the most recent acquisitions by the Trump Organisation, The Spa at Trump Turnberry is luxurious, picturesque and this week’s spa of the week.
Situated on the breath-taking Ayrshire coastline, Turnberry Resort prides itself on being the world’s ‘original golf resort’, and home to the first ESPA spa. A five star resort, the Turnberry is all about luxury, from the warm welcome at the door (by doormen in kilts, no less) to the bespoke spa rituals and comfy poolside loungers which overlook the stunning Irish Sea to Ailsa Craig. Surrounded by an 800-acre estate and with Scotland’s spectacular west coast as a backdrop, the spa’s location is enough reason to visit, but within the dazzling white walls, the treatment menu, lavish accommodation and state-of-the-art facilities are enough to make you want to stay for a lifetime. Alas, we can’t all take up residence in hotels, Mr Trump.
The treatments on offer at the Spa at Turnberry are based on a holistic philosophy to promote harmonization of the mind and body. All services, from body wraps to reflexology, are tailored to a guest’s needs and begin with a personalised consultation to allow the therapist to determine the most beneficial approach.
The spa’s mission to promote harmony in its guests is furthered by a number of indulgent facilities, including twelve treatment rooms, a 65-foot, heated indoor swimming pool (did we mention it overlooks the Irish Sea?), a hydropool, relaxation area, saunas, a steam room, fully equipped gym and golf course. Impressive right? Well apparently if you’re a multi-billion dollar business mogul, it takes a little more to relax, which is why when Donald Trump announced the acquisition he also revealed he’d be spending a whopping £100m on renovations. Wow.
To make the most of the spa’s surroundings and facilities, guests can choose from a variety of day or overnight packages, the most tempting of which has to be the De-stress Spa Day with Afternoon Tea, which includes a full body aromatherapy massage, an intensive facial, manicure, pedicure, afternoon tea and full use of the spa facilities. It’s a little pricey at £225 per person, but we’d trade pretty much everything we own for a swim in that pool.
If you share Mr Trump’s entrepreneurial spirit, you might decide that the One Night Wellness Spa Break is a slightly savvier option. At just £197 per person, it includes an overnight stay in the hotel’s five star accommodation, one 55 minute treatment from the spa menu, breakfast the following morning and full use of the spa facilities.
Looking for a gift or experience that trumps all others? (Again, sorry.) Take a look at the Spa at Trump Turnberry’s venue page where you can book an escape for yourself, or a loved one, now.
