We're hardly in the midst of an Indian summer here in the UK –we’re barely having a British one - but no matter the temperature, when you live in the city, things can get a little crowded and uncomfortable this time of year. Busy streets and teeming tubes (seriously we haven’t had a seat in weeks). It’s all getting a bit hot and sweaty in the city - and not in a good way. We know what you’re thinking: "we need a place in the heart of the city where we can escape the crowds, find a seat (or a massage bed) and relax with a little air conditioning". Well, take a look at what we’ve just found, The Athenaeum Spa in none other than Piccadilly...
Situated on Piccadilly itself, the Athenaeum Spa is a stone’s throw away from Green Park station and Hyde Park Corner and overlooks both of these gorgeous parks – more on that later. The 5-star, family-owned hotel in Mayfair is the height of London luxury and, once the charming doorman has ushered you inside, you will discover its spa is no different. At the Athenaeum Spa the staff believe in ‘a little luxury everyday’ and with their expertise and selection of treatments from beloved spa brands, they will do all they can to help you find it.
Here at Wahanda, we love a little luxury as much as the next person, OK, maybe we love it a little more, but our favourite thing about the Athenaeum Spa is actually it’s approach to fitness and unrivalled facilities. Thanks to it’s prime location, the Athenaeum counts 465 acres of beautiful London parkland (Green Park, St James’s Park and Hyde Park) as part of its ‘gym’ and encourages its guests to make the most of these stunning surroundings by offerring the use of bikes, kites, and jogging maps. Sounds more fun than a cross trainer to us.
Back inside, guests will find some more typical spa facilities including a cosy relaxation room (perfect for rejuvenating after an hour or two kiting) as well as a refreshing wet area, steam room and hot tubs.
The spa also boasts a luxurious and diverse treatment menu offering everything from HD Brows to seaweed wraps and floatation. Enjoy treatments from spa brands like REN (we hear great things about their ‘What’s Not To Love’ bespoke massage and facial) and Elemis who offer everything from Total Glow self tanning to a Tri-enzyme Resurfacing Facial.
Other treatments include manis and pedis by Gelish, MYscara semi-permanent mascara and some seriously tempting spa day packages like the Moroccan Rose Ritual for two or VIP Champagne Spa Day - don't mind if we do.
Fancy getting away from all the hustle and bustle without going too far? Whether you've got a whole day, a few hours or just a lunch break, The Athenaeum Spa is the perfect place to forget about the crowds and really relax this summer. Take a look at Athenaeum’s page and book your escape now.
