If you work hard, can you relax hard, too? ;) I'm a busy professional who travels fairly frequently for meetings to exciting places like Theale or Peterborough or Leamington Spa. When I get a chance for some down time, I like to make the most of it.

Love: accomplishment, moving mountains out of other people's way, my husband, my cat, travel, good food and wine. Oh, and massages, facials and steam rooms/rasuls/saunas.

I'd been putting in some crazy hours at work and needed to get a bit of a beauty MOT. I get my hair cut at the place next door to Glow, so I thought I'd give them a go. Glad I did! The ambience isn't mindblowing - this is a salon more than a spa. Still, I'm very happy. Had a full wax (leg, brazillian) here - my first professionally done one. The therapist was terrific! Very patient, very thorough, and very good. Was practically painless, except for a tiny bit here and there. Have been back since for a facial and a massage. Again, though this isn't a spa as much as it's a salon, it's perfect when you need a quick lift.

I was so impressed by the Serenity Spa at Seaham that I decided to give this spa a try on my last trip to Newcastle. I wasn't disappointed in the least. Terrific facial, good massage, good customer service that felt efficient without being abrupt. It's a different sort of experience to Seaham - this is a place you stop in if you're in town shopping or for business and need a bit of a special lift. City centre day spas can feel a little rushed, but this one got the balance right.

If you want the full body and soul sort of refreshment you can get from a spa, go to Seaham. But if you have half a day or a few hours (instead of a full day or weekend), this spa is perfect.

We need one in Leeds!

Can't wait to get back to this spa. It's the best spa in the UK, in my opinion. Every possible comfort or aspect of a visit to a spa, from customer service to location to food to atmosphere to decor to water temperature to warmed towels and robes - everything has been considered and attended to. The location is fantastic - ocean nearby, lovely gardens overlooked by the luncheon balcony, restaurant, relaxation rooms and treatment rooms. You can even see the gardens from the swimming pool, through massive glass windows. The treatments are phenomenal as well. My friend and I both felt so refreshed and pampered that it almost felt a disappointment to leave. There were plenty of people at the spa, but somehow it never felt crowded or crushed. Just lovely, warm and happy. I was so relaxed and comfortable there that I fell asleep in one of the relaxation rooms at one point, which is something I never do.

I noticed that if you stay at the hotel on the premises, there's an underground tunnel you can go through to get to the hotel without having to brave the elements. Just get your turkish bath experience or massage and go back to your room without leaving the warm cocoon. It's that sort of thinking that makes this spa incredibly special. Worth every penny.

I've been to Titanic several times in the last three years or so. It's a good experience, overall, but the last time I went, the steam room and Heat Experience areas didn't seem quite... clean? The steam room had a strange sort of fruity/musky smell in it that I'd never experienced before at the Titanic. Normally, it's been quite clean. The spa gets very busy, particularly on the weekends, but the last two visits to the spa were the first that I found towels, robes, slippers, etc laying about the shower areas? There was one hen party in on my last visit to the Titanic Spa, but they were very polite & weren't the types to leave things strewn about. I wonder if they have cut back on staff?

Normally, I'd be more positive, but the last two times I've been, it's felt more like spending time in a gym locker room/sauna area than in a relaxation spa. I've been to several spas in the north of England and have to say that in my opinion, Titanic charges the same as Seaham Hall, but doesn't deliver half the spa experience. It's a shame, because it's such a lovely building and the spa itself has such potential...
