Gymbox is by far the best gym in central London(Been to Virgin Active, Fitness First and Cannons... nothing quite adds up to the Gymbox experience). It is a gym in the atmosphere of a night club, with some of the coolest classes there is out there. I've tried out the Kangoo Class (Jump around with Kangoo bouncing shoes to the tunes of music) and the Muay Thai (Thai Boxing) class. Also there's a DJ playing every weekday night if you really wanna sweat it out on the cardio machines night club-style. The facilities are great, with a huge cardio room, probably the biggest free weights area in central London and a big boxing ring with loads of punching bags surrounding it.
The staff are all really neat (and young), and the personal trainers includes a former England champion in Karate & a former European boxing champion. It is also probably the cheapest alternative in the City of London! Though what I find best with Gymbox is the fact that I get really motivated just stepping in the front door. If you want a very formal and calm gym, you should probably avoid Gymbox, because this is a whole throughout hardcore experience!
