It was one of the best things on my list of things to do which I did. Zumba was very energetic and would have suited me some twenty years or so ago - full of energy and surprisingly a fusion of different cultures in terms of music and tempo. Samba was gentler and very much familiar in terms of its beat, very similar to reggae so following the rythm it was easy to follow. The taster Latin and belly dancing were wondeful. The belly dancer was so fluid and elegant. All in all a great way to move on to dance some more.
I tried out four taster classes with Dancebuzz: Brazilian Zouk, Street Dance, Latin, and Ballroom. The deal was great value for money and all of the classes were an excellent introduction to those respective styles. The only negatives were that 1) the Street Dance class was too crowded and overworked one side of the body to such an extent that I couldn't walk in a straight line for two days!, and 2) In the Ballroom class the teacher did not get people to change partners, as was the case in Brazilian Zouk and Latin classes. On the plus side, all of the teachers were lovely, especially Nataliya who always made an effort to make people feel welcome.
I enjoyed the salsa lessons offered at Coconut Grove. The instructor gave clear instructions and I think it was great value for money. The room was slightly too small for the number of people who turned up for the lessons, but overall, a worthwhile deal.
Finsbury Town Hall is a grand old venue, with an impossibly high ceiling and ornate decorations all around. It's a bit unexpected for a zumba class, but there is a lot of space and pretty good acoustics. The instructor was fantastic, and relatively easy to follow now that I've been a few times. There's enough repetition to get the hang of most of the steps and after all, no one minds if you make up your own! Highly recommended as a fun workout to get your whole body moving.
I have done salsa, pole dancing and all sorts of excerses to keep fir, but ZUMBA has been the best so far. I love it. I feel fit and I smile all the time. The music and the people are great and it is such a good work out. I totally recommend it.
I can highly recommend Zumba with City Academy. The instructor was so enthusiastic but still took us through the moves - step by step. It's just a bit daunting bumping into real dancers in the lift at Sadlers Wells!
I first brought my child to Coconut Grove in North Kensington for their
Holiday Camp over the Easter holidays. My 8 year old son came home every
day having thoroughly enjoyed his day of acting, singing and dancing.
He loved the Camp so much that we decided to enrol him onto Coconut
Grove’s Children & Teen Programme for Hip Hop and Drama classes. As a
parent, I think the programme is fantastic – my son always comes home
having enjoyed every part of his lessons, and has developed to be a
confident and mature having grown out of his shy self.
I’m so impressed with the Children & Teen programme at Coconut Grove that
I am planning on continuing my son’s classes there this September and also
introducing him to the music lessons that are held there.
I've recently got into dancing myself! After speaking to the
Coconut Grove Team (who were incredibly polite and helpful!) I decided to
join one class a week. Their adult timetable has a variety of drop in
classes and there is great flexibility. The teachers are fantastic, you
can tell straight away that they have had experience in the industry as
their dancing and teaching is of the highest quality.
Through the classes I have met new people, toned up, got surprisingly so
much fitter and had such a good time. I'm so impressed with the service
there I have even recommended that my friends come and join me in the
adult classes and their children join the Children & Teen Programme.
I would definitely recommend anyone of any age, both male and female, to
come to Coconut Grove – it’s 100% worth your time.
Great fun, good people and an excellent venue. Thoroughly enjoyed the lesson just wish the classes were more frequent at the venue to be able to go for more! I am already looking forward to the next lot of classes booked! Go!
Zumba is perfect for anybody looking to combine gym workout with simple dance routines and lots of laughter. I enjoyed myself every time I went! Loved the latino rhytmhs and sexy instructors :)
It wasn't easy to find the place, as the sign on the street wasn't very obvious, but once inside, it was very nice space, and the teacher is great. the swimming pool is amazing as well.
the deal was for 6 zumba classes at £20 - fantastic value as the classes at sadlers wells are always good fun, and there are a number of instructors meaning you get to try different styles and routines. thanks for running these classes and the deal!
A dance class at Sadler's Wells? Yes please! I've never done any kind of dance class before, except perhaps some cursory ballroom styles in high school, so this was a totally new experience. The class was held in a dance studio, just like you'd expect, wooden floor, mirrored walls, lots of ladies in lycra. As the class began, I remembered that I'm not the most coordinated among us and for that reason, I found the instructor moved a bit too quickly and didn't give us opportunity to see what she was doing before she did it. She also had a habit of darting all over the room, so wasn't always easy to find, when I needed to compare my fumblings with her moves. I also got the possibly paranoid impression that she was tut-tutting my inflexibility! Overall I found the experience a bit intimidating, although I've since been to another class with a different instructor who took the time to run us through the steps before the music started - much better. Final word: i'm signing up for another set of classes.
Great Zumba teachers, though different each week, so no continuity or progression was possible. Studio good - lots of mirrors! however very hot and this is not a gymn - so no changing rooms or showers. Overall good teaching and fun classes, ideal as a taster, probably best to book one of the courses.
I bought these vouchers as gifts for friends and they really enjoyed using them. The classes were fun and not too busy and the instruction was very clear and good. I would recommend these classes to other people, especially those new to dance.
Having heard so much about Zumba I was excited though nervous about my first class and being on my own, not to mention the fact that I'd left my dance shoes and trousers at home!! I needn't have worried - there were only 4 of us in the class which meant there was plenty of room and I didn't feel like I was having to keep up with loads of experienced Zumba-goers! We had a cover teacher, Jessica, but she was a brilliant teacher and was really fun and motivated and it was a thoroughly enjoyable class - just hope the rest live up to the standard she set ;-) The cost of the voucher meant that each class works out to £4 which is an absolute bargain - I'll definitely be looking out for more, coz it's the best way I've found to keep fit and actually enjoy it!!!
Drill Hall is pretty well located, just opposite Goodge St stn. Been to 2 Zumba classes here on a Sat morning with 2 different teachers. Both were good, but had their own separate styles. The 10.30am classes were generally pretty small which is good as the class is not too cramped and we had space to move around and spread out. Gets pretty hot though, even with the air-con on!
The Zumba classes were really good. The only downside is that the teachers are not always the same and there aren't proper changing rooms. The deal is very good value for money and the location is perfect. Thank you!
This was a much better Zumba class than another one I attended as it had proper Latin songs and the teacher made it a really good atmosphere. Zumba should be made to proper songs and not stupid dance mash-ups. It was accessible to all, including beginners and not very experienced people which was great, and also people with low fitness levels did not feel left behind. Will definitely do it again!
Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Good way to have fun with your girls and loosing all this calories without the feeling of boredom. I loved it and would go back again. Good location as well.
Drill Hall is a great venue and the Zumba teacher was fantastic - a great advert for what Zumba can do for your body! However, it's really difficult to follow if you don't know the moves and are slightly rhythmically challenged. Luckily though, everyone is concentrating so hard that they're not all just standing there laughing at you! I don't think I did much Zumba (more just bounced around), however, I had a smile on my face throughout and was hot and sweaty at the end so all in all, it was OK!
I bought the deal of 6 Zumba classes for £20. My first class was so much fun but the ones after started to feel a bit repetitive, especially as I realised the instructor also teaches at my gym (joined after I bought the deal) and makes the same jokes at the different venues! However, Zumba is a great workout if you put effort into it, it is ultra fun and I loved the cheesy music. If it wasn't offered as part of my gym membership I'd definitely pay to go regularly, providing they mixed up the routines/music a bit more.
This was a great taster class into Latin and Ballroom dancing. My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed the class and thought the teacher explained everything really well and had a great passion for what he does.
My favourite part of the class was the cha cha cha and I was so pleased we did that instead of the jive!
I would recommend this class to everyone!
My Husband & I really enjoyed Latin Dancing. We were fortunate that it was only a small group so our dance teacher was very attentive & was able to get to know us individually. Overall out of the three dance lessons with took up with this deal this was my favourite.
My next Taster was Commerical Street Dance. My first expression of the venue was small and very much in need of a refurbishment. We couldn't hear the dance teacher due to the gym music playing in the background so found it very diificult to follow his dance steps. This one wasn't for me.
Last but not least, we attended a Ballroom Lesson. My husband really enjoyed this class. The group were really friendly. The teacher made it fun for us with his witty humour and his patience when explain the dance moves. Overall very enjoyable.
I attended both the Zumba and Samba workout taster. It was an amazing experience, as I was able to get a great cardio workout and laugh the entire time. Nataliya, the owner, has identified great teachers for Dancebuzz who make it their goal to make sure everyone is at ease and is able to enjoy their time. I highly recommend Dancebuzz because it really combines a great workout with loads of fun. I purchased other tasters for couples dancing and looking forward to them!
A great time was had, had us both feeling exhilerated and laughed all night about our dancing. We now have to find time to go back and continue. very friendly staff.
The venue at Sadler's Wells wasn't great (stuffy with no windows or air-con - hardly ideal for an hour of fast-paced hard-cardio dancing, which surprised me as isn't Sadler's Wells a dance facility?) but get the right teacher and suddenly the whole experience changes! Each class was packed with people (no doubt due to the Wahanda voucher offer) and over my three classes I had 2 different teachers - the first was hard to follow as she moved around the class with no cues, but the second instructor was absolutely amazing - full of energy, prompt cuing and few pauses between dances, plus lots of options for either beginners or people who wanted more aerobic "kick" to the workout! The result was plenty of sweat and an amazing endorphin rush to perk up any day - everything I wanted from the Zumba classes when I signed up.
ive recently joined the lucille roberts at fordham road. i first was invited as a guest by my coworker and was somewhat skeptical. but the excitement began when i herd the good music. i was a little surprised that i enjoyed the music and when i turned to the aerobic floor i realized i had stepped into a zumba class. i had the best time ever! im new at the dancing part but felt very welcomed by the instructor . we danced every type of music possible, i luved that my coworker tried and laughed and enjoyed the workout. by the end of the class to my surprise i was drenched in sweat... thats when i decided to try the membership...so far so good..
I attended the Flamenco and the Latin taster session at Sadler Wells. Both of them were very good and I can highly recommend them. Personally I prefered the Latin taster as Flamenco is much more technical.
Staff were on both occassions very proffessional. I loved the live music at the Flamenco session.
i joind this gym the other day with two friends. i am so happy I did I finally found a place where I am getting a great workout and enjoy going to! the classes are so much fun and gotta say the zumba is awesome...al i can say is if you may be thinking of joining do it! I am greatful to my friend for dragging me there...now I plan on staying! alreadt had my orientation and it fun and informative!!! LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I absolutely love this location !! I usually go in the mornings. I've never had a hard time getting a machine. I usually enjoy going on Wednesday's for Yudelkas Zumba class ! It is amazing that girl can move and she sure gives me a great 45 min workout !! I also feel VERY comfortable because it is an all women facility, the staff is also nice and very helpful.
The latin ballroom taster was really good fun - my partner and I both came away feeling great! The teacher was obviously very passionate about dance and we went through the basic steps for the rumba. The class was not overcrowded and my only gripe is that the room was very hot and stuffy.
I attended Zumba, and it was fanatstic!!!The class was fun and got your heart pumping without feeling too much.It was a really small class, so felt less intimidating and was fiarly easy to follwo.I am so uncoordinated so if i cna do it, anyone can!!Only down side is the room is hot (Bring water!)Have fun-ZUMBA!
I went to a Zumba class lead by Gueti Ribas, the Brazilian fitness bombshell with so much energy she could light up the Christmas Lights on Oxford Street without any electricity!
Zumba as many of you know is the latest fitness craze mixing Latin dance with aerobics for fast and effective fat loss. You burn between 400 and 600 calories an hour and you can see it at the end when you have to wring out your t-shirt like a damp cloth!
Gueti is an amazing teacher, very inspiring and the hour goes in a flash.
Dragon Hall is also a good venue, very central (near Holborn station) and the dance studio is very spacious, I reckon we were about 40-50 people exercising there and there was enough space to do all the dance moves, arms waving and all!
I do recommend you try this drop in class at Dragon Hall, every Wednesday at 7.30pm (£7 per class and when you do 9 classes you get the 10th free, just remember to bring your loyalty card).
This is the most fun you'll have with your clothes on!
The Zumba dance class is great! The instructors are good and very friendly. The dance was very aerobic, fast and energetic.
The only problem, and a big let down, is the venue! there is no AC, and windows are not permitted to be opened! In hot weather, this is unbearable.
I have now attended two of the three zumba classes available with the wahanda voucher I bought and have so far found it excellent value for money - especially as it helps you lose the pounds in such a fun way!
I didn't even think about the fact that I was exercising during the class as was having such a good time dancing! It's a great class for everyone to join in and the instructors were very motivating and friendly.
The only thing that could be improved is the room space - the first class was held in a large room which was great but it was far too hot and there were not any windows we could easily open - I was sweating even before we had started!
In the second class, the room temperature was much better but it was not really big enough for the size of the class which made it sometimes difficult to see and follow the instructor. Apart from that though, brilliant class - I would definately be interested in doing this long-term when a regular class is set up.
Zumba, led by the effervescent Heidi, was thoroughly fun and deceptively exhausting! A little more Latin dancing based than I expected (I have the coordination of a body frozen in ice) but I enjoyed the freestyle element to it.
I really enjoyed the Zumba class and am looking forward to the next ones! I thought it was really fun and a good way to exercise as you didn't really notice how much you were working out!
I thought the teacher was good, and fun, although I felt frustrated at times that she didn't always go through the steps enough, but then I think that it doesn't really matter as you will pick it up the more you go, and its all about having fun rather than doing it totally right!
Also, I liked the studio and the academy itself and would be interested in looking at other classes there.
Seems to be run by "creatives" who would rather be doing their own thing than be helpful. Strange venue, behind the scences of the theatre. No changing facilities, have to use the bathroom. Dance room was extremely hot. The deal details said you could take the Zumba classes at two venues - Sadler's Wells or Dragon Hall, when it was actually only available at Sadler's. The class was suposed to be beginner level but absolutely wasn't, too fast, not enough instruction.
I've been to City Academy @ Sadler's Wells a few times. The facilities are great and seem well maintained. The staff are very nonchalant, in general they all seem to hate their lives. They won't go out of their way to smile or give you directions to your studio.
The class I bought from Wahanda is a Zumba class. Prior to trying it at Sadler's Wells, I've done Zumba at my local Virgin Active several times; I used to go at *least* once a week. I've had three different instructors and even though their styles were very different, I always really enjoyed the class. The choreography was always great: not too hard to follow so you could focus on working out, but not too easy so that it was challenging enough to be interesting. The instructors always explain the moves before a song starts, and keep explaining throughout the song.
I can't say the same for the Zumba class at Sadler's Wells. Maybe the instructor is used to teaching more advanced classes? This was supposedly a beginners' Zumba class. She never thoroughly explains the moves before starting a song. Maybe she'll explain *some*, but then sometime in the middle of a song, she'll start doing her own thing, and the rest of the class will just fall over themselves trying to follow. Then she'll just grin and say something like "Oh maybe this is too hard for you guys," then pause the song, and then clumsily try to explain the move. She seemed more interested in having her own dance party in front of the room, and showing off her bum-shaking moves, rather than actually leading a workout class. Sure, she was cheery, had lots of energy, and yelled lots of encouragement, but there was hardly any actual instruction. Since I've done a bunch of other Zumba classes before, after a while I just gave up on her and started to do my own thing, so that I could actually get a workout (which was my goal for going there anyway). I felt bad for some of the people in the class who were bouncing clumsily around looking completely lost.
I had such fun! Zumba is a great dance, gives you so much energy and it makes you smile all the time! The teacher was amazing; professional, funny, hard-working! I will definetely go again! Also, great value for money!
I have just recently started becoming a regular attendee at Frame - amd I am so glad I found them! Not only are Pip and Joan two of the most freindly, welcoming and helpful fitness instructors/owners I have met, but the studios are warm, funky and not at all intimidating.
I have tried lots of classes, but particular favourites are Dancersize with Shaun, Jane Fonda with Leila and Energise Aerobics with Diana (the hardest class I have ever taken!) I have just started the Vibe 4 -week bootcamp which is a great deal. In fact, they have lots of good offers to keep you interested!
The changing rooms are great (love the straighteners!) Overall, I love this place so much I am giving up my traditional gym membership and getting on board here!!
