Body Exfoliation Treatments

Those old skin cells are weighing you down. A body exfoliation treatment is a gentle way of sloughing off the dead skin and all those other nasties on the outside and letting your fresh, clear skin show through. It’s the perfect preparation for sunless tanning treatments, because it evens out your skin – like a full-body polish for a shiny, new you.

How does it work?

There are lots of different body scrubs available; some use granular mixtures like salt-scrub, sugar-scrub or wheat bran, while others concentrate on deep moisturisation, to soften up the dead skin cells, before rubbing you down with a special, slightly abrasive cloth.

If you want peachy skin all over, you’ll need to take your clothes off - though, most spas will provide you with a pair of disposable pants to preserve your modesty. The scrub is applied in circular motions to tease out any dirt from your pores. It’s also often combined with a massage, to help boost your circulation and to give your skin the maximum healthy glow.

Once the scrub mixture has been rubbed all over, your therapist will wipe it away with damp cloths, taking all the impurities with it, revealing your baby-soft skin underneath. A deep-moisturising treatment will then be applied and left for a few minutes to sink in. The whole treatment usually takes 20 to 40 minutes, though it can sometimes be combined with a longer massage or body-mask.

Is it for me?

A body exfoliation treatment takes no prisoners when it comes to dull skin, problem patches and clogged pores. If you’re feeling a bit flaky or grubby it’s a relaxing, refreshing way to beautify yourself.

For sensitive souls who suffer from particularly bad eczema or skin conditions such as psoriasis, a body scrub might be too abrasive.
