The Bootcamp classes with GI Training are very good. Lots of different exercises, body conditioning, and a lot of cardio. Sometimes its boxing, sometimes the focus is on a few muscles and then changing over to another group of muscles always with a lot of running involved. It is a very good workout and you genuinely feel a difference if training is regular.
Great work out will definitely do it again / continue.
At Fitbody Fitmind you get whatever you set out to achieve. By this I mean that you can enjoy a workout at your own speed and choice of routine or you can employ the skills of the seasoned trainers. Ian and Jill have immense experience and knowhow in many areas of fitness, both physically and mentally. Great location, great staff, top of the range equipment, sauna and steam room. Love this gym :-)
I have been working out with Rohit at MFB since November 2011, and I have been able to transform my body in about 3 months, by losing a stone and a half (10 kg) whilst gaining muscle and body definition.
I have been a member of most of the major-chain gyms for the last 10 years, but going to the gym never yielded any results, as I discovered I am just not able to motivate myself to perform constant, vigorous excercise that has one's pulse always at around 80% of max and leaves them without breath, for 60 mins.
Rohit's classes have always been different and varied, which also helps to avoid falling into a routine.
Yes, they are tough, but my word of advice is - there aren't any short-cuts to weight loss and body definition...
Nowadays, I always go for two hours in a row, doing suspension training and circuits followed by body combat with Rohit.
My Fitness Boutique is the most amazing thing that has happened to me in terms of my fitness and body transformation.

In April 2011, I started taking Personal Training, about 2 times a week, and started seeing some results, but due to cost, I was only exercising 2 times a week. Then my Personal Trainer introduced me to Classes at my gym, and I quickly realised that classes such as Kettlebells, Circuits, Bootcamp training etc give you 80% benefits for 20% of the cost.
In November 2011, I discovered MFB, which is local, and has an amazing choice of classes, while being affordable at the same time (monthly unlimited membership costs less than 2 PT sessions).
Going to MFB gives you 110% of the benefits for 10% of the costs of working with a Personal Trainer. This is because you get to work out with a range of instructors, who are qualified PTs and all have their unique expertise, so you benefit from a range of skills, class paces and difficulty levels.
They also have a wide range of classes; some are more demanding than others, but my word of advice is - there aren't any short-cuts to weight loss and body definition...
Stripes is unique, your goals become their goals. They are all genuinely highly motivated to ensure all memebers achieve their goals by listening and encouragement. You don't feel judged if youlapse a bit there is just a gentle encouragement to get on it again, and when you have your push me head on - they do that too.
I hate gyms I hate working out, but I like Stripes, it has everything you need but without the intimidating atmosphere of other gyms. I asked them to put a programme together for my teenage coach potato who is going ski-ing for the first time and his programme is as unique and personal to him as mine is to me. I can't believe he actually wants to go and enjoys it.
I had my first Reiki and hypnotherapy sessions at Tranquility Spa. It was wonderful and the therapist took the time to assess my needs, put me at ease and I really enjoyed it.
I work as a temp and strange shifts so there is no routine in my time at the moment, Stripes are accomodating and if I haven't been in for a week or so I am welcomed back like a long lost friend, if you are looking for a harder programme the trainers and the gym are set up for that too, as soon as my shift pattern allows I am going to try the new 'Ultimate Fitness' class with my son.
Try Stripes before you sign up anywhere else - it is simply wonderful in every way
I recently booked for the Back massage treatment, body wrap and back parrafin wax.
However booking seemed to be a slight issue, as they were lacking in staff answering the phone I had to ring on several different occasions and when they did pick up they kept transferring me back and forth.
However on the day of the booking the venue was easy to locate as said on the phone. It was about a 2 min walk from Hendon central tube station.
The venue wasnt the most glamorous of places but was decent and secluded enough, I had forgotten my print out but the staff kindly resolved the issues anyway.
The treatments were to a high standard and the thearpist had enough strength for the massage to really get the knots that was in back. This was a good stress relief treatment and anyone experiencing back aches and pains.
They staff were plesant and did not rush anything - treatment was only meant to be 1hr but was given an extra 15 -20mins.
overall i was very pleased and is definitely a good place to come regularly as your local venue.
Value for money.
i've been going frame just before christmas and i must say it's got the best and the most choice of classes i've been to out of all the centres i've been to in london and the staff are always happy to to give you advice if you arsk and all classes are spot on i am realy into my box-fit classes at the moment as it works the whole body and and thge two guys who teach it have great music and push you 100% also the dance classes are spot on and your mad to nfeel welcome at bany level.it's about 95% ladys so if your looking to find your dream date apart from the well toned fitness guys who teach it's not for you but if your looking for a great range of classes then i don't think you'll find much better in and around london as they run all types of classes all day long.
Im a massive fan of Heart and Soul fitness!!
Joined in August after gaining some holiday weight. Had a 4 week goal and after lots of advice from lovely Sarah the owner, I was given a trial personal training session to see if i liked it.
I was instantly hooked!! Iv never ever stuck at a gym or enjoyed exercising before but I think that the open, friendly and personal approach that all the staff have at Heart and Soul definitely has kept me coming back.
Needless to say, my goal was reached and Iv literally never felt or looked better.
I lost 1 and a half stone in about 5 or 6 weeks!!! This was down to great nutritional advice from my very experienced PT Shahin, as-well as some fun but rigorous training sessions and classes. I could never have achieved this without all the fantastic staff at Heart and Soul Fitness.
Thank-you so much guys and I couldn't recommend this place more!!
I love my gym!! (something I thought I would NEVER say)
lovely place fantastic facilities would definately go again .staff were very professional nothing was to much trouble made you feel at ease layout of the club was a bonus a really enjoyable experience
This is a decent gym, but the main problem is that it is not too close to the tube. That said, the facilities are nice and I would have joined if they had a pool.
Great venue and great PT's who listen to your needs and correct you when necessary. Would go back and would definitely recommend it to friends!
The venue is great, simple, clean and inviting. No fuss there!
The classes were very good but it was a mission to get passed reception. First of all no one at the reception knew what I was talking about when showed them the voucher. Then 3 different people asked me for my details and they all tried to get me in to signing up. Each time I visited the gym it was te same story. Also, it is not possible to book the classes, you need to turn up 30 min earlier to put your name in the list and then wait until the class starts. So if you still have any patience left when the class starts, at least these are good. But what an effort to just excercise!
it was a nice day, me and a friend went together,i wish it was a little closer to my home but would definetly go again, i wish it was a little cheaper too, but would rather go top noth than fitness first
I have visited it before. It is good for a deal, but would not go there full time, as the location is not the greatest. Other than that it offers all usual facilities, stuff is friendly. I would recommend buying a deal there.
I had a great experience with Heart & Soul Fitness they were recommended to me by a friend who was still training with them. I am middle aged and have started carrying some extra weight and generally my fitness was poor. Due to my job I am frequently away travelling and my diet is terrible because of this.
However I am a month in with training with a trainer at Heart & Soul Fitness and they are excellent! The trainer I have is making me keep a food diary and pushing me in every session to lengths I did not think possible on my body.
Mixed and varied exercises for people of all fitness levels by professional personal trainers who certainly know there stuff. They have a functional training room which is very different to anything I have seen before. CrossFit style training using your own body weight and doing exercises in circuits timed so you get a cardio workout for your heart & lungs.
In just under a month training 3-4 times a week I feel stronger, fitter and more flexible. I am starting to look how I want to and think about my lifestyle choices more. Heart & Soul Fitness have had a positive impact on my life and have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone.
Went to Brighton Fitness First, really enjoyed the classes- especially body pump and body conditioning !!! staff really friendly!!
Wish there was more classes though and different times - as i dont work so daytime classes would be fantastic
I did the bodypump class there. It was a small studio and there were no clips left to secure the weights, not a big problem but makes you a bit wary as you lift them. The guy running the class was excellent. I went with my girlfriend and we found it very friendly. I wouldn't join this branch personally as the studio space was very small and I would be going for the classes, also I prefer a good mix of men and women and differing fitness levels. A very high percentage of the people at Covent Garden are already very fit gay men.
If you mainly use weights and cardio machines at the gym and prefer muscled men then this is a good place.
I visited this gym with a friend and we both enjoyed it. Some of the staff on reception didnt seem to have a clue what was going on, which made things a but awkard. The classes themselves were good, but the place is let down a bit by the staff.
Wasn't impressed. A member of staff told me I could not use it non-consecutively until he had read the small print properly, then after my class he took my voucher away from me saying that I didn't need it (he gave me another dated form). When I returned the next week I was asked why my pass wasn't signed off the first time although I had told the memeber of staff he had to do this. My friend had exactly the same problem with her pass in another FF. Now the Croydon FF is closed until further notice because of the riots which is not their fault, however everything else is open in West Croydon and FF was not touched during the riots so I am confused as to why. I feel I may have wasted money buying this pass.
fab well worth the fiver and if another deal comes on i will be sure to buy another one, won't be joining the club though as not convenient location for me otherwise I would.
Easy gym is a no frills gym that oppened just over a month ago in North London, it replaces Virgin gym of which I was formally a member of (so apologies if this puts a negative slant on my review).
The gym is arranged over 2 floors with a small stretching area, strength and cardio machines on the first floor. And additional wieghts and changing rooms on the second floor. The monthly fee is low however classes are incur an additional charge so if you are a person who likes to take classes the costs could easily add up to a significant monthly outlay. The staff seem nice enough when you approach them however there is very little advice and support there and I suspect that any additional support would have to paid for on top of the membership in the form of personal training sessions.
I will start with the positives:
The gym has just been fitted out so all of the equipment is new and it is clean (with an exception that I will get to later). There are lots of cardio machines, so great if you ever had to queue for a running/rowing macine or cross trainer. The entry system is pretty cool as it a code followed by finger print reader, which is handy if you dont enjoy faffing about with membership cards. Also the low monthly price and lack of contract offer flexibilty for those on a budget.
On the downside I find the atmosphere pretty souless much like the easy jet airline service (so great brand continuity there!) This lack of atmosphere is possibly due to the fact that the music is so quiet that you strain to hear it when on the cardio area. I know I could bring my ipod, but part of the gym is social and personally, I dont like to feel cut off whilst working out.
There is very little space for stretching and floor work, and each time I have been there, it feels like I need to wait or stretch under slightly claustrophobic conditions.
The worst things for me are the lack of luxuries and showers which I personally find disappointing. I know its sad but one of the things that keeps me motivated to train is rewarding myself with a steamimg shower (if I am in a rush) or a sauna (if I have time to spare) in a spacious clean environment with all of the toiletries that I need to hand and the option of the sunbed (during the winter months)
The showers at easy gym are time limited, like those lights that people put in communal hallways (the kind you push in and pop of when your halfway up the stairs) it is unclear what to do to adjust the water temperature and there is no option to change the pressure (which is pretty weak) or height of the showers (a typical one size fits all easyjet approach) And in addition to that there are only 5 showers 2 of which have broken locks after just one month which does not bode well for the future.
For me the final straw was today whilst I was in the showe someone charming had left a used pantliner stuck to the shower wall (this to me speaks volumes to the clientel)
So to sum up, easygym does what it says on the tin. If you know what your doing and dont need anyone to motivate you , easygym it offers good value for money and provides you with plenty of equipment to do your thing. If like me you need a bit of inspiration to avoid reaching a plateau. Or if you like to feel that you are at a health club and not a gym, you will find easy gym wanting.
Absolutely my favourite place ever - I have been doing their Frameworks class for about 2 months now and even though it was really hard in the beginning I can now keep up so my fitness levels have definitely improved. Can't beat the feeling of leaving the room afterwards!
I've also taken a beginners yoga class and will definitely be coming back for more.
Excellent choice of classes; the staff and instructors are always very friendly and helpful and the studio has a lovely non-corporate atmosphere.
I enjoy it so much that I'm contemplating becoming a member at the moment (big thumbs up for the transparency on the membership costs which you can just get from their website - wish it was so easy for other fitness studios!) but I also like the PAYG option and the top-up card with discounted class rates.
travelled a very long way for a 3 day retreat and it was well worth the effort. Incredibly hard work for someone who hasnt worked out for over 5 years ! but fantastic. David was our personal trainer and he pushed us hard in a nice way, and with great results. Couldnt recommend it enough. Would have happily stayed longer.
The NYHRC location at 13th Street is not only a great location to go to, but it has many types of classes available. My favorite class of all time is AQUA ZUMBA. (Now just to let you know, I’ve never done Zumba on land, ONLY in the water.) If you haven’t tried it yet, I can tell you this workout “Gives me Energy!”
Our Instructor is Taryn Hitchman and every Monday I look forward to our 45-minute AQUA ZUMBA workout in the water. The water is used as resistance, so it’s easy for the moves to tone and strengthen our bodies. Since I had my knee surgeries, I find that the water frees me to leap, turn, glide, and dance like “the landlubbers”…. Plus it’s the easiest way for me to stay in shape and enjoy it.
The music is mostly Latin with an upbeat rhythm and with Taryn, it’s easy to follow her moves, so I don’t have to think about working out. I just jump in and join her and the group as we laugh, splash and dance our way to better fitness. And heck, I’ll say it;
“A Really Good Time!”

Egoist body is great because you get really nice workout because of the attention you get from the trainers as the groups are kept small. Good quality classes with nice music and the workout is aiming at all the muscles. Also, everyone is really nice and open as you can discuss your exercise programme in order to get the best results. Feeling that you are in a friendly and happy environment keeps you motivated to go to the gym!
I had a fantastic 5 days at the Hillmotts and would recommend the facility/experience to all of those who are keen to be educated in fitness and healthy lifestyle as well as those wanting to have a luxury pamper in the spa.
The staff were amazing, a lot of fun and understanding they really understood what may objectives were, and taught me that exercise and maintaining a health food balance can be exciting rather than daunting.
I left the facility feeling great, full of energy and most importantly motivated to sustain a healthy lifestyle.
I attended the Hillmotts 3 day retreat with 3 friends. It was an awesome intense 3 days, covering everything from TRX to Yoga and the Zumba class was brilliant fun. I would highly recommend it to anyone. The staff were first class.
very friendly staff; just the right pace for me and my state of fitness; friendly group; friendly and helpful ambience; made to feel very welcome and good pace
Fur coat and no knickers about sums it up.
They are hopeless altogether at ever getting back to anyone. Managers, staff, sales people. The reception staff seem to be the only responsive staff. Any time I have ever requested a call back, I have had to chase them repeatedly, despite having been a loyal member for two years +.
I have now left but their computer system hasn't been updated so they keep chasing me for payment, and issuing emails and calls saying I need to contact them about payment.
I completed a survey one time from HQ and was told that someone would get back to me to address my input. Did anyone ever contact me? You guessed it. Nuffink. Not a sausage of communication.
When I was joining, sales staff insisted to me that they would only let me read the contract if I was going to sign it. They refused to let me take a copy away(!). Isn't this illegal? It certainly seemed dubious.
Also, despite raising concerns about data security, I was shown other people's details on their computer system, relating to their dob, address, how many sit ups Richard should do and how he was getting on with this. Poor Richard had lost his keyfob and the gym induction staff were using real people's lost fobs to demonstrate how useful the keyfob system can be!
The only thing I like about this gym is that it is open late (the gym part closes at half ten) and you feel safe leaving. They are very expensive (£100 a month).
At the weekend, it is choc full of families and under fives. DL claim there is an active social life but this is centred around families. Families' halloween parties, families' new years parties. Yawn. I don't feel comfortable as a childless adult navigating around all the little people all day Saturday and Sunday, who are hovering around doors waiting to get their fingers stuck in them, and being shouted at by their mothers. I feel that the DL social activities actually leave people like me (young professionals) out in the cold. There is never everything for us.
Interestingly the day before my holidays, one of the staff came and had a good fixated look on my big wobbly belly (never my strong point). Staring fascinatedly, he commented that I clearly needed a rehaul of my workout as it didn't seem to be working for me.
BTW there is a three month notice period, if you ever decide to leave, and this is rounded up to the end of the 3 month period (ie it extends to the end of the calendar month).
I visited the Ayurveda spa today and had a fantastic experience. Situated within a quaint cottage the spa offers lots of different therapies. Sabine, the therapist was kind and attended to my every need, nothing was too much trouble for her. I had a package of treatments including infra-red cabinet, spa whirlpool bath, full body massage, full body exfoliation, and collagen face mask for a bargain price. Left feeling amazing.
I will definitely be visiting again !! Thank-you Sabine
This is the newest member of the Crunch family in NYC. They have up-to-date cardio equipment (all with individual TVs or a large one nearby) and the classes are challenging and fun. Just be sure to get there early if you want to get into a class because they fill up in advance.
I joined with the $20 membership and a $20 membership for my daughter. I bring my husband on weekends, and enjoy tanning too. The environment is clean and new. The equipment is top notch. I am very pleased with my membership.
This is my usual gym, it has a good variety of classes and the staff are usally very friendly and helpful. I'm not a big fan of the split level design meaning that the receiption is on the first floor along with all the cardio equipment, the second floor consists of the changing rooms and the weight machines and studio are based on the third floor. The only things which I find very disappointing is the fact that there is only a tiny area for stretching and hand weights which is very inappopriate.
I was lucky enough to go along for a free morning launch event at Frame with some work colleagues. Frame is pretty hard to find if you don't know the area very well - we walked around in a few too many circles before finally finding the side street it's on, as there was building work going on nearby.
Located in some arches, the venue is nice and airy and the arches throughout give it a quirky feel. They have a self-service breakfast available for early morning workouts which is a really nice touch, plus on Thursday and Friday nights they have makeup and hair teams there so you can do a class then get spruced up for a night out (which you're perfectly located for!). The changing rooms are quite small, but have a large mirror and four shower cublicles with products available so you can leave feeling fresh.
To start off we tried their signature class, Framework, which is a body conditioning type of class with some ballet-like poses thrown in. This was in a small room where only five or six people could fit in to do it, so you don't get lost and are able to see what the instructor is doing. It's a great class for toning and stretching the muscles and I could definitely feel it working even though it was a short half hour session.
Next we tried out the Lindyhop, which was great fun! It helps to go as a group as you need to pair up for partner work, but the instructor had us rotating round so you danced with everyone, making it more enjoyable. The instructor was helpful but as it was a taster session he couldn't go over the steps too much, so it probably helps to be a quick learner.
Overall the vibe of the place was fun and friendly, and they've clearly thought everything through, from breakfast to make up touch-ups and complimentary towels. They have a good range of classes such as burlesque, ballroom dancing and pilates (which they have machines for in a separate room), and they even do hen parties so you can have a giggle and try something new for a fun night out. I was also pleased to hear there are no membership fees, you just top up your Frame card, choose a class and book in. I'll definitely be going back!
