My experience was very enjoyable. Loved the products The salon took me by surprise it was very beautifully decorated, warm and welcoming. the products smell great and left me feeling great. the staff were super friendly. i would definitely recommend this place and go back time and time again. thank you the Organic Treatment Company
easy central location. staff ok although when i asked if i would stay on the mailing list receptionist was like yes we,ll let you know of offers. i do feel that the offers are to giveyou a chance to do something different and i would defeniatly recomend this treament and do it again.sometimes is something is too expensive it stops me trying something for first experience. therapist was very nice chatty but not overly so it took away relaxing atmosphere.
The place was a bit tired and damp looking and the special bed they use didn’t work (the water that is meant to rain down on you to rinse you off was cold, so needed to be done by hand). It also was a tad dangerous as when the heater had been on, the bit overhead continued to drip, what was after this, very hot water drops on to you. I also had to be very careful when i got up each time that i did not touch the hot lamp overhead, which isn’t a easy task. So from a health and safety perspective this is not a good treatment.
However, the therapist herself was fantastic (Maria), friendly, and welcoming. I would consider going back for definitely not on that treatment bed!
This wahanda deal is excellent - im giving it 5 stars all round. Good value, friendly staff, clean rooms, great location and nothing was too much trouble. Im Very impressed! It's a great treat for someone.
I visited the Ayurveda spa today and had a fantastic experience. Situated within a quaint cottage the spa offers lots of different therapies. Sabine, the therapist was kind and attended to my every need, nothing was too much trouble for her. I had a package of treatments including infra-red cabinet, spa whirlpool bath, full body massage, full body exfoliation, and collagen face mask for a bargain price. Left feeling amazing.
I will definitely be visiting again !! Thank-you Sabine
What a fantastic place. Set in a lovely little cottage, this relaxing clinic really is a piece of heaven. As soon as we entered we were greeted by the fantastic ladies, Sabine and Linda. We had a tour of the place and was fascinated by all the smells, equipment and relaxation music all round the place. We were a young couple and had the spa to ourselves.
We had the Spice Spa Experience which was extremely rejuvenating and relaxing. Infra red sauna, followed by the turbo chromotherapy jacuzzi, then dry body scrub and moisture wrap.
I also had a foot and leg massage aswell as a mini indian massage which was fantastic.
I would definatley recommend anybody to visit the spa, we bought some peppermint and shea butter bath and shower wash and the same type of body butter, this is fantastic, I have been getting a bath every night and putting this in, this is highly recommended too.
Thanks for a great day girls, we hope to see you again soon.
****Great Ayurvedic Doctor in New York City, The Real Deal trained in India! ****
I wish I had met ayurvedic doctor, Dr. Reetu Rudra, 18 months ago, shortly after I turned 50 and just wasn't feeling myself. For 18 months, I had spent so much time and money going from one medical doctor in NYC to another, getting nowhere. Although I knew and was so thankful to be "healthy" on paper, I was low on energy, not sleeping well, was anxious and had various symptoms that couldn't be attributed to anything "medical" according to the MDs in New York City.
Over the years I had heard about Ayurvedic medicine, the ancient medicine practiced in India for over 6000 years.
I understood that Ayurvedic medicine probably held many answers, given the wisdom intrinsic in a 6000 year-old science.
Then a friend told me he was working with a wonderful Ayurvedic doctor trained in India.
Of late, he was looking so much better and full of energy, so I wanted to see this doctor!
He told me about her academic accomplishments -- that she had graduated at the top of her ayurvedic class, then became a naturopath and spent a year working in a hospital, that she had an Ayurvedic center in London before coming to NY -- and that she was devoted to the art of healing with natural means.
Dr. Rudra immediately understood the issues I was dealing with, and knew how to help right away.
She explained that I was in a state of imbalance called by too much "Vata" and gave me three things I could do to immediately start feeling better:
1) Based on my ayurvedic body type, she told me how to adjust my diet and which foods to eat at specific times of day -- she said this was 50% of the problem
2) She taught me a specific type of yogic breathing exercise called pranayama that would bring vitality and energy into all my organs, and
3) She gave me specific herbal supplements and herbal medicines that would restore balance over a period of a few months.
I was so excited!! Finally a doctor had understood my complaints and gave me the tools to help myself.
Immediately I changed the foods I ate, began pranayama and meditation in the morning, and started Triphala and other herbal medicines to restore balance.
I began to feel better!
Because I have a "vata-imbalance" which happens to many people after age 50, Dr. Rudra suggested that I go through a detoxification called "Panchkarma".
My panchkarma has involved a series of medical massages -- using a variety of herbal-medicine oils rubbed into specific areas of the body-- as well as some herbal home treatments.
Also Dr. Rudra, who is a yoga teacher as well and lifelong practitioner of the ayurvedic lifestyle, have given me various yoga exercises to also help my condition.
What I like so much about Dr. Rudra and her NYC clinic is her common sense approach to natural healing. I've always believed that the body can heal if given the correct support and treatments. I've always believed herbs were much more healing than pharmaceutical medicines because of their subtle qualities.
There's still so much to learn about the science and art of Ayurveda -- so much common sense, everyday practices and guidelines for living a holistic and peaceful lifestyle.
Every step of the way, Dr. Rudra has been there to answer my questions and facilitate healing.
One final word: do not be fooled when you meet Dr. Rudra, for she is young and unassuming. But she is an old soul with a deep gift for healing and has a heart overflowing with compassion and good humor. This young woman, with high academic honors and a life devoted to the art of healing, has travelled very far from her home in India -- to bring ayurvedic healing and wisdom to those of us in NY City. She puts all the older gray haired medical doctors I've met with to shame, for she knows how to heal imbalances that these men do not even come close to understanding. For ayurveda is 6000 years full of wisdom, and the medicine practiced by western doctors is less than 300 years old. Now that you know about Ayurvedic medicine and Dr. Rudra, it should be obvious where true healing can be found in New York.
I have been to an ayurvedic resort in India and the Santhigram in Southall was very similar ...I really enjoyed the treatments the place is quite small but it definately had the calming feeling of an ayurvedic resort in India, I would definately go again,
This has the most stunning session and is really a totally lovely place. You need to be keen on the idea of ayurveda as the entire spa is run on its principles. Generally you see an ayurvedic doctor and your treatment plan comes out of that (although you can add on beauty treatments which are excellent).
The food is beyond fabulous - generally three or more courses but so perfectly balanced that you don't put on weight. You can even do a workshop with the chef to learn how to cook ayurveda-style at home.
Yoga is obviously a strong part of the ethos and classes are good (though not all teachers spoke English and so you might be a little limited in your choice of class if you're new and need instruction).
The pool is beautiful, so serene and the surroundings are stunning too. It's set amongst vineyards and you can walk up fromthe hotel through these or down into town and along the river - there is even a small icon museum in town.
Be warned. As you detox (no coffee or alcohol) you may get a stinking headache (but the staff will take pity and give you something for it if it gets really bad).
The massage treatments are fabulous - many are given 'four=handed'. Be aware that you will usually strip right off for these as a lot of oil is involved. Germans don't hold with undue modesty so you just get on with it! Therapists are lovely and you feel seriously cocooned and cossetted (but these aren't purely fancy 'rituals' - they have profound results).
Lectures and workshops are also included so you learn the theory behind ayurveda.
Just lovely....writing about it makes me feel a serious yearning to go again!
Nearly forgot. Downsides? Not many really. I did find the decor less inspiring than I'd hope, both in bedrooms and in downstairs areas such as lobby, restaurant etc.
I was so stressed and thought I needed at least one month to recuperate and feel better. For some reason I could not go away from UK but I needed to be treated. I found Lotus Ayurveda Spa and after only 5 days with the team I felt alive again.
You have your treatment with an excellent introduction to the ayurvedic discipline. Plus there is a great Indian food chef ;D.
I'm really impressed with Charym -- Litchfield is not a big town but it has a great spa which is suprisingly affordable. I have been to Charym for Yoga a few times but this was my first visit to the spa and I had the Ayurvedic oil massage with Marleena which was amazing. Its not the largest spa and but the facilities are well designed and elegant and the treatments are amazing. Best of all the treatments are very well priced given and won't break the bank. Well worth the visit.
I have been to a lot of spas all around the world and honestly Talise is in the Top 3 of all time. Amazing facilities with private villa treatment rooms, waterways and tropical gardens. You feel like you are in your own personal spa wonderland. Not just a room in a building. The staff are very freindly and professional. Therapists where excellent. I felt like royalty and will be spending a lot of time there on our next visit.
The spa and yoga facilities are absolutely exquisite. The views from the spaces are relaxing and calming. The cabanas are worth every bit of money. The main building with its restaurant and guest rooms are not so great. The restaurant is a bit over priced and lacks ambiance. It needs a serious renovation. Other than that, this is a top notch resort and the best part, only a 3 hour flight from New York City.
Place was beautiful and the wait staff fabulous.
The Ayurvedic doctor and irridologyst were both great
the rafting down rhe river great
I liked the mineral pool very much
the atmosphere was sad and lacked energy and happiness.
There was no soul
The yoga and treatments were average
In all, i was disapointed with the treatments ....
Very expensive ...
