I recently visited Champneys Henlow with three girlfriends for a night of R&R, gossip and pre-summer treatments. The rooms we stayed in were small but fairly modern and comfortable. We were pleasantly surprised by the food, all meals had healthy options and were tasty. The facilities are missing that something special to make it feel like a real spa treat, so the overall experience felt a little clinical. A few candles, floaty music and softer lighting would make all the difference. A 30min massage was included in our booking, although I was just unwinding when it was all over. We took advantage of the rasul mud chamber, with the four of us in paper knickers and shower caps, covered in mud, then steamed and scrubbed to perfection. Aside from leaving us glowing, we were also in fits of giggles for most of it so came out feeling truly revived! For a cheap and cheerful weekend away Henlow hit the spot – I would think twice if you are looking for a romantic weekend away with your man…unless you enjoy the company of women in groups!
