The salon...

Heavensent Beauty is in a quiet, leafy road in Hadley Wood making it the perfect escape from bustling London, but right next to the train station for that all-important ‘accessibility’. (There is also on street parking available right outside.)

Adding to the feeling of exclusivity, Heavensent Beauty is tucked away in the basement of a street level hairdresser, and once through the entrance you are quickly escorted downstairs to the salon. Although below street level, the salon is light and fresh in colour with natural light coming in through the high windows. On arrival I was greeted by a friendly receptionist who made me feel welcome by offering me a comfy seat and a drink while I waited for my treatments to commence.

A contemporary Indian theme is carried throughout the salon, inspired by Heavensent Beauty director Nita Thanki. The holistic meditation music, tranquil turquoise colour scheme and the aptly named treatment rooms all offer an inviting backdrop to pure escapism.

The treatments...

I had booked in several treatments with Nita starting off with waxing (various parts), eyelash tinting and finished off with an Environ Active Vitamin 1 hour Facial (more about that hour of pleasure in a moment).

We started off in the ‘Blossom Room’, which although quite clinical due to the nature of treatments, was in keeping with the contemporary feel of the salon. It is in this room that Nita excels in her quest for perfection, bearing in mind her objective for my first treatment was about hair removal, she does this effortlessly and quickly, which causes me minimal discomfort. After the waxing treatments were finish I was asked to ‘inspect’ her work giving me the opportunity to catch a stray hair or two that she may have missed. Nita, all the while knowingly knew I would find none. I didn’t.

Staying in the ‘Blossom Room’ I then had my second treatment, eyelash tinting (black), which basically had me lying on my back with my eyes shut for 10 to 15 minutes while I listened to the healing music. The end results were fantastic and have prevented me from needing to wear mascara in the day.

Now that the first two treatments were complete I was ready for my dessert; the indulgent Environ Active Vitamin 1 hour Facial. Nita escorted my freshly plucked body into the ‘Jasmine Room’, which in contrast to the ‘Blossom Room’ was dimly lit with candles and was slightly warmer in temperature. I was asked to lie in a raised massage bed and was covered with a light blanket before being told by Nita to ‘relax’.

It is important to note that I have had many different facials in my time but knew very little about the Environ Active Vitamin Facial so I really wasn’t sure what to expect. And even though Nita had explained to me prior to the treatment what it would entail, nothing really prepared me for just how relaxing and invigorating the treatment was.

This is where Nita is able to show off her versatility as a beautician and had I not have know, I would have thought I had two therapists for each treatment. There was a mixture of cleansing, massage (face, head, shoulders and arms), and something called a DF machine that sent a relaxing wave through my skin which is like a feeling I’ve never had before. The grand finale was a cooling mask that set on my skin accompanied by the DF machine. At this point I must have dozed off as I remember nothing else until being woken up by a soothing voice I recognised to be Nita. After removing the mask, which, should I be anyone of celebrity status (which I am not) could have fit right in at Madam Tussauds, I was again asked to inspect the finished result. My skin felt plump, supple and nourished, and this wasn’t just immediately after, but for days following the treatment too.

After the treatment had finished I was given time alone in the ‘Jasmine Room’ to dress and compose myself before returning back to the reception area where I was offered, but not pushed into purchasing some of the surprisingly reasonably priced Environ products, which I now use religiously in between facials.

After a refreshing drink and a heartfelt goodbye I emerged up to street level again through the bustling hairdressers who were working away and it was hard to believe we were even in the same building.

To sum up; Heavensent Beauty is s hidden gem in the suburbs of North London where mind, body and soul are all taken care of for you.
