If you weren't aware of Yates' salon in Leicester, I'm not surprised. Tucked down a pedestrianised side street, you're more likely to be familiar with the sandwich and jacket potato outlet next door. And with a name that conjures up images of cheap wine bars, it might not spring to mind when you first come to think of your local salon.

However Yates' is something of a hidden gem (if you can find the door that is). Owned by a couple, you can't fault it's personal service and the staff's passion for the beauty industry. I had a Moor Spa facial there and found both the products and the treatment impressive.

Spread over two floors, it's actually a lot bigger than you give it credit for when you initially make your way up the staircase. The treatment rooms are well kitted out, whilst the manicure and tanning areas are bright and well-lit. The competitive prices are something to shout about too. For a salon slap bang in the city centre, you can't fault the value-for-money aspect.
