I visited Sk:n when it first opened and was really excited by it. A general open day, all staff were on hand to dish out advice and direct you to treatments you should be having. With a really sleek design, it struck me as somewhere I'd go back and try a treatment...which I did, about a month later.
One thing I hate is when you have expectations that just aren't met and unfortunately this was the case when I took my second trip to Sk:n. After mentioning I sometimes suffered with dry skin on my initial visit, they'd booked me in for one of their special microdermabrasion treatments. Not the most soothing or relaxing of treatments, it felt like I was having a hoover pulled and pushed over my face whilst little bits of gravel pounded my skin (apparently it wasn't gravel, it was micro-crystals).
Maybe I'm being dramatic, it was a while ago, but what I was really miffed about was how it left my skin afterwards. I knew it would be red for a few hours but it was drier than ever before. I mentioned that I'd be travelling to New York a few days after the treatment where the temperature was considerably lower than in Birmingham, (conditions that dry skin out regardless of whether you've had a few layers of the stuff removed or not), but I was assured that it wouldn't be a problem. I even got roped into spending £70 on product sthat would keep my skin as smooth as a baby's bottom. Did it heck? On my second day in America, I had to hunt down a chemist that sold super rich moisturising cream.Needless to say I've not been back to Sk:n since.
