I am completely, totally, madly in love with this place. It's unlike any other spa/wellness destination I've experienced. I went there to recharge, refocus and re-energise after a personally challenging and stressful year. My physical health was once concern, but what I was most looking for was somewhere to heal and strengthen myself emotionally and get back in touch with myself. I never imagined that a week at Kamalaya would make such an impact on my life. It changed - in the most wonderful way - how/what I thought about myself, my relationships, and the possibilities for the future. It opened my eyes, my heart, my mind. While other similar places I've been to have left me feeling great, the difference with Kamalaya is that it was like a light switched on inside me...there was a real shift that happened, which has been a beautiful gift. There's a lot to love here - the setting is stunning, lots of nature, beautiful views; the staff are incredible, very natural, friendly and caring - the service is personal, not of the stiff 'yes sir, yes madam' variety; the wellness and spa treatments - huge variety of top quality treatments that are deeply therapeutic and authentic, and the therapists, naturopaths and other specialists are truly gifted; they have a great range of wellness programs you can choose from (their Detox programs look particularly good - there were quite a few guests doing detox when I was there, and you could see the results day by day); their classes are fantastic - yoga, tai chi, chi gong etc - great instructors and a good variety of classes; the accommodation is beautiful, not overdone, very comfortable, calming and stylish; there was a great mix of guests, and the atmosphere is very friendly, relaxed and unpretentious so it's easy to meet people if you want - the other guests, along with the staff, were a big part of making my experience so enriching; the food is outstanding - healthy, interesting, delicious - detox must be so easy with the Kamalaya food; sitting in the hilltop plunge pools overlooking the ocean and islands at sunset...sublime!. What could have been better? For me, nothing. For some, the service is not production-line efficient but honestly, that is precisely what makes it so special - nothing is forced, it's very open, genuine, natural and heart-warming. The other thing that could be a concern to some is the beach - the tides make ocean swimming difficult because you have to walk out a long way, but that didn't bother me at all, and I normally love swimming in the ocean. I can't wait to go back. I want to live there! The world needs more Kamalayas!!
