I can honestly say that joining Lexy's pregnancy yoga class was one of the best decisions I made during the pregnancy. When I started the class I was frankly terrified of doing anything which might cause me to lose the baby and I was holding my body rigid and keeping myself very protected. Through doing the class I was able to observe how physical pregnant women could be and learned to relax and totally enjoy / embrace my state. I blossomed with a new confidence. The class also involved a certain amount of talking / sharing how we were feeling both physically and emotionally and that was also really helpful as until the NCT classes kicked in towards the final 6 weeks of my pregnancy it was the only forum I had in which to share feelings and ask questions / listen to those asked by others at slightly different stages of pregnancy than me. Finally Lexy often invites in previous class members a few weeks after they have given birth to share their birth experiences and also often involves a doula in those parts of the sessions. It was brilliant to hear how other women had fared with labour and especially how they had coped / adapted when circumstances took them away from their ideal birth plans.
I would thoroughly recommend this class to any pregnant woman, particularly first time mothers-to-be. It might not be traditional yoga, but it embraces many aspects of yoga and combines them with other really useful ante-natal support / preparation aspects, especially breathing, relaxation techniques and helpful positions for labour.
