Really liquid eyeliner is an animal unto itself and to get that perfect look just takes practice. Holding the lid taunt while you apply and it drys helps and if you make a mistake you can remove and start over. I keep pointed Q-tips handy and wet the tip to fix smugges or mistakes while the liner is still damp.

The best way to get a good wing is to start from the outside of the eye in stead of the inner eye. Make the wing where you want it to be with you eye open and then take it in with your eye closed. Also liquid liner is hard to use. Try gel liner ( Bobbi brown is the best!). And a thin brush. Much more manageable and stays where you put it.

1. Prep the eye with a lid primer. After applying with a brush, pat the primer gently on the skin to set it. (this will keep your makeup fresh for hours)
2. Pat a base shadow on the entire lid
3. Apply the liner from the inside of the eye to the outside. Once you glide to the middle of the eyelid, continue in a straight line to the outer corner of the eye. Fill in below the line to get a Marylin Monroe look.
Application Tip: Keep the liner wand parallel to the eye, and rest your palm on your cheekbone to steady your hand

Great instructions - have never heard of doing straight line then filling in after. I'm going to be trying that!

When I was doing makeup at the opera they taught us to start the "wing" from the outside corner of the eye with a swoop and continue to the inner corner of the eye with a narrower line while keeping the lid taught. Let dry before opening eyes completely.

To get an even wing/flick, I always follow an imaginary line that continues up from the end of my lower lid/lashes. You can also do the initial line lightly in pencil and then go over with liquid or gel line once you are confident with the shape.

Step 1: You need a fairly steady hand. I rest my elbow on my dressing table and wipe off excess liquid on the rim of the product. Step 2: With your free hand lift your brow up slightly now work from the outside of your eye inwards tapering as you work inward, now you have your base to work on those wings. Step 3: Still working on the outer part of eye reapply directly above the line you applied making it bigger and tapering inwards again depending on how big you want your wings you might apply three times each time just above the line apply. Practise makes perfect. Have damp cotton buds at the ready to correct any mistakes. goodluck

Hi! Use a stiff angled brush for best results. The brush the comes in the liquid liners is often too flimsy and you won't get much control with it. I like to start in the middle of the lid with the eyeliner then move to the outside corner. Before you get to the very end, line up your brush on the outside part of your eyelid to a 45 degree angle and swipe in towards the line you created. Then go back to the inner part of the lashline and draw a line to meet with the line you've already drawn. This way, you can thicken the line if you've made any mistakes.
