My nephew has just turned 2 and is having to wear splints/heavy boots (sorry I don't know the technical term) on his feet at night as he can't put his feet fully down, so is walking/running on tip toes!

I wondered if yoga might help stretch his muscles etc and how early he can start?

Thanks!

I would first go to a specialist. However yoga with the proper instructor would be good. you can start yoga as early as 6 months old. He would need someone who specializes in childrens therapy yoga. good luck

I would say 2 is too young. They are going through a stage of growth in the body so you dont want to put any unneccessary pressure on the joints. I would suggest seeking medical advice as to why he can't put his feet fully down and go from there.

Thanks for the info! It's to do with his tendons/ligaments not growing enough I think so the doctors know what they are doing to help, I just wondered if yoga might be an option a little later on if the problem carries on. Thanks!

Since your nephew is only two. It is a good idea to get him personal yoga class where the teacher can do poses similar to Thai Yoga/Yoga Therapy where she stretches his body for him, rather that letting him run around in a regular kids yoga class.

Wish him all the best.
