I used to be a member at this gym but I gave up after I learned that a guy (I met in a bar) new to London was paying less than my expensive gym membership I was paying for several years. OK, is one of the biggest gyms in central London, the swimming pool is huge, the sauna is a massive (probably) 5 metres by 4 metres. The gym is well structured with lots of machines/power plate/boy's area/cardio area etc and the staff is very friendly (especially at the reception) but the members are less nice. And after a while you cannot put up with repetitive attitude (if you are a girl). Plus the high membership fee draggs the balance even lower.

Great gym in a great location. Good selection of classes. lots of workout equipment, great cycling studio, pool (smallish but still ok), saunas, cafe, chill-out section, fairly sized. sometimes gets very busy and crowded at the peak times. they really should change the shampoos, soap, and body lotion - it feels a bit like some sort of industrial liquid. also, water in the showers are at times cold.

This is my favourite of the Virgin Active's I've been to in London. The atmosphere is friendly, there are plenty of running machines, it is spotless, the pool is small but nice and I often have it to myself, towels are included, it's in a great location just off the Marble Arch end of Oxford Street. Only criticism would be that I don't like the shampoo provided. Virgin Active Moorgate provide a really nice coconut one.
