The Turkish Massage experience here was so good that I went twice in a matter of 3 days, and wish I had discovered this place earlier. I was staying at a nearby hotel in Oludeniz that did not have a spa or turkish massage facilities, so it was very easy to organise a taxi to take me & my partner to this spa just off the beach (so its very conveniently located). The people working here advise you get this treatment done at the beginning of your holiday as its a great way to exfoliate the skin and prepare it for the tanning, as it leads to a deeper tan.
At first I was a bit turned off by the waiting area which has cheap plastic chairs and slippers - definitely nothing luxurious. Bring your swimming trunks or bikini, but they provide towels, and your own slippers if you like.
After getting changed, you are led to a large room which hot & steamy marble sauna bath - you also have the option of using their separate sauna room. The large grey marble turkish bath is an interesting place - it was the first time I had ever been in one of these rooms - it was really interesting. You sit there for what seems like ages, but really the point (that no one had explained to us) is that you should be in there for 20 minutes to relax, let your pores open up, etc.
After 20 minutes of sitting on the warm marble, burly men (and sometime burly women) enter the room - these are the masseurs. At first the ask you to lay on your stomach in the middle of the room on the large circular marble platform (the picture here above is what the room looks like). The treatment begins with them tossing water on you, then take some soapy mitts and scrub you down (then you flip and get scrubbed on your front side). Its a bit intense, but it feels great. My partner and I were worked on simultaneously by two therapists. After the exfoliation, another dousing of cold water followed by the best part - someone blows lovely bubbly olive oil soap foam all over you, and the masseuse begins to give you a nice massage, which feels great. Another dousing of cold water follows, then they ask if you want to have your hair shampooed.
I said yes, and so you go to a corner by a large bath and you are shampooed vigorously. Then I opted for a shave (you can also have a quick mud mask facial, but i went for the shave instead). Using a straight blade, I had a super close shave that was great.
Then, I went back upstairs and had a 30 minute deep tissue aromatherapy massage which was heavenly. The massage therapist really got in there and gave me a great massage. I left the place feeling rejuvenated, clean, fresh and energetic. It really helps bring you up after a day in the hot Turkish sun!
