What a mistake! I figured how bad could a place be if it is inside a Saks Fifth Avenue? Little did I know Saks does not operate this place. I had an emergency - didn't know where to go, and ended up here, where I guess their main business is out of towners and bridesmaids etc, who never come back anyway.
If you want uneven foil highlights, unprofessional staff, an employee's toddler running and screaming beneath your feet while you are worked on, to be kept waiting an hour, to sit amid run down dirty surroundings, your hair cut shorter than you requested, and to hear loud awkward inappropriate conversation from employees - then this is the place for you.
Hands down one of the worst salon experiences in 30 years.
From the moment you enter this salon, the calm classy tone inside the actual Saks store disappears. The spa is dark, dirty, loud and very poorly managed. Took several minutes for front desk personell to even make eye contact with me, though I stood there for a while. I was immediately and loudly asked for all sorts of personal information THEN told there would be a "10 minute wait." However, I could tell from her expression that the girl knew it would actually be far longer.
They took me to their so-called "relaxation room" where I sat and SAT - till the stylist came in - called me by the wrong name, quickly became overly informal, then ordered an assistant to give me a "free" Kerastase treatment" - though I did not want one - as a way to make up for the fact that she was actually running a full hour behind. She kept trying to joke, as if I would find all this amusing. I did not. I had an event that evening and was now running very late.
All the while the talk around me among stylists (not customers) was loud and strange and overly personal. Then the stylist's little grandson came in and started playing beneath our feet (not relaxing).
At least - I hoped - my hair would be decent after all this. But it wasn't. Highlights came out very uneven - big brown blotches in once place, too much blonde on one side, no matter how it was parted it looked awful. I asked her to place a few more foils where the brown blotches were and she told me I was seeing things. Then she cut it way too short. For all this I was charged $235 and never made it to the event I was supposed to attend due mostly to the late hour, but also because my hair was so poorly highlighted, I thought it best to reassess in the morning.
I have since been elsewhere for corrective color at $75. AVOID this awful salon.
