The Golf Club & Golf Academy at Chelsea Piers 2 reviews

Write A ReviewThis was a great, non intimidating enviornment to learn the basics about the game, the course, and equipment. Classroom instructions is about an hour and then another .5 hours of practice time. It's also easy way to get additional pointers to improve your performance.

I signed up for the introductory Golf 101 class, which is a 90 minute class with just the right amount of classroom instruction beforehand, followed by plenty of time to whack golf balls from the iconic multi-tiered driving range onto the Hudson (sort of). See below, or in the "Gallery" section to see the picture I took. For newbies, the Golf Club is at Pier 59, and you walk under through a tunnel of sorts, and then you see the entrance (again, see the "Gallery" for pictures)
I think some individual classes would be a good next step, but this is a good way to get introduced to the facility. The best thing about the driving range is that the balls come up automatically, so you do not need to bend over after every hit and tee it up. My instructor, who used to be a former golf pro, was very patient and was a great teacher. I love this place, and will definitely be back soon. For taking the class, I also received a $20 card for use at the driving range when I come back.
Picture I took from the top deck of the driving range:
