The Day Spa 10 reviews

Write A ReviewSadly I found Whittlebury Hall Spa a bit depressing. It is the best thing about a very mediocre hotel. They do packages with food and sadly in order to make it work financially they cut corners particularly with the food. The massage we had was good, we were treated together in the same room, the relaxation room was basic but okay and the dry float bed that is hidden away upstairs is well worth finding. However the changing rooms were basic, no cream or nice 'spa' touches, the gym had flashy but hard to use equipment, the fake trees and plants aren't fooling anyone and the spa pools were very busy. If you are staying the hotel is totally souless and depressing. The food at dinner was awful, cheap badly cooked bits of meat.. would recommend you don't stay overnight. breakfast was okay.

I've visited Whittlebury a number of times over the last few years. I love the whole set up with the spa attached to the hotel. It's a great location set in lovely grounds and easy to travel to from London. The spa staff are always fantastic and I feel I receive good value for money in a beautiful tranquil environment. I always book for three days/two nights to get the most out of my time, there are usually offers running to make this quite affordable although one or two of the rooms were a little bit small.
The massage was great, I had this on the morning of my first full day so really got the benefit and could let go of the stress and tension in my shoulders. It was the second time I'd had the Rasul treatment, it's great as a treatment for two as gives the opportunity for a bit of mud slinging and softer skin afterwards!

I agree with the comments below the facilities are ok not the greatest it was absoultely packed at the time when we visited so most of the facilities we were unable to use unless you wanted to be packed in like sardines on a sauana :( not great, the room was ok.
However the dinner and breakfast was over cooked an not nice at all but if there is nothing else to eat you are going to eat it arent you!!
So i suggest if anybody is considering going here go when there isnt deals as thats when it get packed.

A friend of mine was very impressed with the facilities but particularly with the food... I guess she went off peak

I would really not recommend this spa to anyone. The grounds are pretty and the hotel is very clean and professional. However the staff lacked communication and were very disorganised. All the information we recieved on the phone was incorrect and they couldn't get the booking form right. The Heat and Ice experience is not so, instead a sauna with a bucket of ice at the end of the corridor. Certainly no Ice Cave was present. The times of our massages were changed without our knowledge meaning my partner and I had different times and he missed his. The lunch area was too small and the tables too close together. Furthermore the spa facilities were few and far between with not much to do or experience. However they did have a sparkly ceiling in the sauna which was pretty.

A really special day. This was my second visit and I was just as impressed with the venue as I was when I first went in February. Very professional and polite staff, well maintained facilities and a calm atmosphere. My only issue was the lack of catering for those with lactose intolerance, however when asked about the foods available, the staff were very efficient and produced a platter for me to suit my dietary needs. Perfect!

I am also lactose intolerant and found that the buffet menu worked well.
On another note, Try Lactase Enzyme from Holland and Barrat, you take it with lactose/dairy foods and it digests them for you, perfect for that special treat or night out xx

Thanks for the advice. I've tried using the Lactase Enzyme but don't find that they do anything for me. Still, a relaxing day at the spa makes everything better.

I went to Whittlebury Day Spa in August for the fourth time. I love going to the Twilight Spa, as it is very good value including pasta, a glass of wine and use of the Heat & Ice area. The aqua therapy pool is fantastic, you can blast your achey shoulders with the jets of water which gets rid of knots and makes you feel really relaxed.
The staff are helpfull, and when I had a treatment in the past it was of a high quality.
I would recommend a visit here to anybody wanting a relaxing spa day or spa evening.

I have actually been lucky enough to visit Whittlebury twice now. A few years ago and then more recently following the addition of the Heat and Ice area. The new Heat and Ice area is definitely a welcome edition, making this a true spa experience rather than just a hotel with a pool offering spa treatments. On the downside, the increase in popularity due to the additional facilities and offers, meant that the spa seemed at times too overcrowded; registration was a bit like Picaddiliy Circus and the staff were struggling to cope. This was in stark contrast to my first visit where you really felt like you got individual attention and the service in both the hotel and spa was second to none.
Hopefully this was just teething problems with the new spa! And, having said that I still thoroughly enjoyed the break, the treatments were really good. The hotel rooms are luxurious and comfortable and the restaurant was absolutley excellent quality. This is my kind of Spa Break where you can feel virtuous during the day, but can still enjoy yourself with good food and wine at night!
I would not hesitate to return, a really good spa and hotel that does not break the bank.

Whittlebury Hall is a great venue, which gets you in the mood to relax and unwind as soon as you arrive. The staff were enthusisatic, helpful and responsive to our queries. The facilities were immaculate and the range of 'Spa experiences' impressive. The Gold,Silver and Bronze packages offer the best deal, but were not available over the weekend, so if treatments area part of your 'must have' list go in the week. I went with a group of friends and we all wanted to chat, but - if you were looking for a truly tranquil escape from day to day life the acoustics, combined with numerous groups which inevitably will attend over the weekend make for quite a noisy hubub both in the Spa and the restuarant.
All in all I had a fantastic day and hope to return soon, my one negative comment would be that in and around the Spa area you can only get a drink of water in a very small, conical paper cup - I went home dehydrated and with a headache - I will know to drink a lot more next time!

I have been to this spa twice now and on both occasions have found it to be superb. It is a lovely place to relax with friends, enjoy a good meal and experience a wonderful pampering treatment.
However the first time I went I had a male therapist and was unsure of the treatment my friend had booked me in for. In my panic at realising I had a grotty grey thong ( my own!) under my fluffy white robe (provided by spa) , I hastily put on my dripping wet costume to cover my cellulite -ridden bottom, when the rather hunky male asked me to prepare myself for the treatment. Consequently I didnt relax much when he gave me my head massage!! Joke aside, it is a fantastic place and I would definitely visit again.

I booked a one night spa break for my sisters’ birthday and chose Whittlebury Hall for it’s location, based near Milton Keynes it was nice and easy for me to travel up from London and for my sister to drive down from the Midlands.
I was a little worried as we parked our car in the car park at the very noticeable noise of racing cars (Whittlebury is very close to the Silverstone race track) however as we walked closer to the hotel this became more of a hum and in fact once inside I couldn’t hear anything.
I’d booked a standard twin room so was a little surprised when we were shown to a double room. I went back to the reception desk and was told that there had obviously been an error but all the twin rooms were now fully booked with only double rooms free. My sister and I didn’t mind sharing a bed but this could have been very embarrassing. Despite this initial set back the room itself was modern and bright with all the facilities you’d want including some very nice Molton Brown toiletries in the bathroom.
We had treatments booked in for the following day so decided to make our way down to the spa to use the facilities. The day spa is situated at the side of the hotel and has it’s own separate entrance, but can also be easily accessed from inside the hotel. The girls on the spa reception were very friendly and soon had us kitted out in lovely fluffy white robes and slippers.
We started off with the heat-and-ice experience, moving from one steam room to another your body temperature starts increasing before then dramatically cooling down in the Ice cave. This resulted in lots of girlie cries (not just me!) as it’s a real shock to the senses, but completely worth it as it leaves your body feeling completely invigorated and apparently is great for circulation which helps us girls in our constant battle against cellulite. The hydrotherapy pool in the centre of the room was my favourite experience, with lots of different massage jets designed to ease away the tension in your body. The only downside was that it also seemed to be everyone else’s favourite spot so was very busy with a few too many people in it at times to fully relax. We dried off on the very comfortable ceramic heated loungers before heading off for a swim.
The pool is situated within the leisure centre, next to the day spa and unlike the day spa is open to all guests. Surprisingly this was a lot quieter than the heat and ice rooms so was the perfect place to chill after a long day. There is a very good sized pool with bubble jets as well as a fairly large Jacuzzi, perfect to sit and gossip in. There was also a pleasant steam room and a sauna which was let down by rather horrid white plastic seats of which 3 had out of use notices on them.
Our package included a 3 course dinner in Aston's restaurant which was just lovely with plenty of choice, friendly staff and efficient service. This is also where breakfast was served the following morning.
I had pre-booked 2 treatments and they were both fantastic. The first was a Rasul mud treatment which is perfect for 2 people to enjoy together and you administer it yourself. You start off with rubbing a salt scrub over your skin which gently exfoliates the skin, you then shower and start applying the mud. There are three different types of mud which you use on your hair, face and body. Once fully caked you enter the chamber, which has built in seating and the room slowly fills with steam. This is one of my favourite treatments as it is not only relaxing but also very social. The treatment ends when a light shower comes on from above within the chamber to wash away all the mud and your skin is left feeling super smooth.
My sister also had the Elemis skin specific facial which she raved about afterwards.
Overall , I think Whittlebury offers amazing value for money especially on the dinner, bed and breakfast packages. If you’re an avid Champney’s or Ragdale regular it won’t be for you, however it’s perfect for any spa virgins' as it won’t break the bank. There are lots of special offers throughout the year including 2 for 1 deals on certain treatments meaning you can come back again and again. I’ve been back twice already!
