we went end of march 2012 on a living social deal £35 each for a facial massage and light lunch. however we paid on the day £35 to use the jacuzzi which is in the old synagogue. we had the jacuzzi to ourselves for an hour - cold water and fruit kebabs were brought half way through which was nice. it was a lovely relaxing part of the day. we then waited 50 minutes for our massage and facial as the therapist said our appointment was 12 instead of 1230 she got this wrong - not impressed at all with this. the massage and facial was lovely, the homemade soup was lovely but we asked for it to be microwaved as it was cold. glad i never paid £10 to upgrade to the buffet it wasn't worth it. we have just bought a deal with wahanda which is amazing value £39 for 2 people same deal.

Venue was lovely, therapist was great. But the treatment was quick and not very good value for money wouldnt recommend to anyone or visit again. Pity. On the plus side the food for lunch was excellent and the cook was very friendly and helpful.

Bought the voucher for my mum who thoroughly enjoyed the treatment. I booked myself in for something as well and found the whole experience to be wonderful. Fabulous staff, fabulous building...can't wait to visit again!

Just returned from a lovely day at the spa with my mum. We had an hour in the candlelit spa pool, rasul, back massage, facial and 3 course buffet lunch, it was a lovely relaxing day and well worth the money. The staff were very professional and made you feel special - we didn't feel rushed at all. The food was delicious, freshly cooked and there was lots of choice - soup, crusty bread, salmon, chicken breasts, new potatoes, salad, gammon ham, pasta... and lemon cheesecake mmmm! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing, pampering day out!

Really nice spa - good atmosphere and nice staff. Treatments are really nice and I felt so relaxed and refreshed at the end of it. Although I didn't have lunch - I would recommend it as the smell was lovely! Will definitely be coming back soon.

I bought a Moroccan Rasul deal as a treat for my husband and I. When I phoned to make a booking the lady on the other end of the phone was very helpful and also informed me that for a discounted price of £28/person we could also get an hour long back massage that would take place immediately after the Moroccan Rasul. I went for it.

Unfortunately, our experience at Portland Hall Spa was terrible. The towels, bathrobes and slippers that we were given were old and tattered. The staff were cold and unapproachable. We were just thrown into the Moroccan Rasul without any proper attention or instructions. After the Rasul we waited around for a good while until we were shown to the treatment room for our back massages. The massage lasted just about 30 minutes - despite being advertised for an hour long massage. The girl who was massaging me had long nails that dug into my back for the entire treatment.

When we were leaving I was going to ask for the name of the manager so I could make them aware of our experience but all five people that had been milling around the reception desk all day were no where to be seen! We waited several minutes expecting someone to at least see us out but no one came!

I would strongly discourage anyone else from going to Portland Hall Spa. The facilities, ambience, treatments were poor and worst of all the staff were very unhelpful and had no concept of customer care. I would also discourage Wahanda from partnering with them in the future.

Overall, a very relaxing experience; staff very friendly & excellent value for money. Would definately recommend! The exfoliation scrub left my skin feeling really smooth & refreshed, & the massage left me feeling stress free. The spa is in an old synagogue which creates a calm & relaxed atmosphere; lovely relaxing music, which i felt could have been a little louder when having our treatments.

Upon driving upto Portland Hall Spa we were put off, due to the exterior looking run down. However, walking through the doors and things improved. The interior was calming and soothing. We started our treatments with a resual mud therapy, then a deep tissue back massage and finally a facial. Each treatment surpassed the previous one and we both left feeling totally relaxed and pampered.

Beautiful old Synagoge lovely atmosphere, nice tea by arrival. The staff really made me, my boyfriend and mum and dad welcome. We went last year in the easter holiday's. The bubble bath candle light experience felt luxuorious eating fruit on sticks dipped in a chocolate sauce and cold mineral water next to pool side. Afterwards we all enjoyed a lovely aromatic backmassage. The treatment rooms were in eastern style and looked beautiful. I had a quick peep in the Hammam area and think I will try the Morrocan mud rasul next time for two, as the facilities look great, it looks like you step in another Culture! For lunch we paid twelfe ahead and enjoyed a nice organic fresh cooked buffet, carrot and coriander soup and bean salads. We had a lovely time at Portland hall and definitely come back, even though the sauna was broken when we went!
