Metta Retreat is in a very central location, located beneath an Electric Beach. As it is located beneath another establishment, it is naturally not your ideal luxury spa atmosphere. But it is decent, it is clean and the staff is extremely friendly. The massage I had was the Thai combination massage, which is more deep tissue on your back and more thai / stretching on legs and arms. The therapist was very nice, very attentive and skilled. I am thinking of going back again.

After walking around in London with tight shoulders and back it was heavenly to get a wonderful Thai massage to loosen up the muscles and improve my posture. The best massage I have ever had was in Thailand and I have to say this one comes very close. Would definitely recommend to others.

This was the best massage I have had in along time. The venue was good, and the therapist I had was really friendly and made me feel very relaxed. Treatments start with a foot bath which is a really nice touch.

This was one of the - if not the - best massages I have ever had! And may I say totally unexpected. The therapist (Alicia) was exceptionally knowledgeable, so genuine, so kind and so focused. The setting is simple (not overdone and overstyled) friendly, open and relaxed and the therapy rooms are clean, warm, cosy and extremely quiet. I never for a second felt rushed or like I was just "the next client”. We chatted a bit during the massage (but not excessively) and the therapist was thrilled to answer any questions I had and we even ended up chatting for another 10 more minutes after the massage was over. The massage experience was brilliant; it was very thorough and professional, thoughtful, gentle and focused. The foot massage was a wonderful way to start and really put me at my ease and set the caring and relaxed atmosphere. This is a gem of a place and I will definitely be coming back again and again.

My first massage at this location and I loved the therapist's attitude: friendly and welcoming trying to find the best massage techniques to 'please' my poor bones and muscles. Highly recommended and cannot wait to go back.

This was my first trip to Metta and my must say, I was quite empressed. My therapist was a lovely young lady and her massage technique was spot on. My treatment began with a floral foot bath and then moved on to an aromatherapy massage with sweet almond ail. I felt like I was walking on air when I left the venue :-) Wonderful!

I arrived a little late but the therapist was really nice and treated me for the full hour I was booked for.
It was me first Thai massage and so I can't compare it with any other but I think it was good - the pressure was good and it flowed smoothly. My olny disatisfaction would be that the drains/ sewage works smelt quite bad on the day I was there. I'm sure it'll probably all be sorted by the time I next visit.

I really enjoyed my experience at Metta Urban Retreat and do believe it was one of, if not the, best massage treatment I’ve ever had.
I thought the do-it-yourself online booking system was fantastic – so simple and efficient. I even got an email reminder the day before my appointment.
The practice is downstairs of a tanning salon, but it was perfectly quiet when I was there (I had a morning appointment). There were 2 treatment rooms; both were small but adequately sized, clean, neat and comfortably set up with soft music, delicate scents and dim lighting, creating a relaxing ambience. The décor in the small reception area was also tastefully decorated.
Mimi, my therapist was friendly and competent. I appreciated the hot foot bath at the beginning as due to poor circulation my feet do normally tend to get cold while lying there during a massage and this helped to warm them up. Mimi took the opportunity during this prelude to ask about areas I might like her to focus on and how strong I preferred the massage, which I thought was very appropriate and professional.
I asked for a strong massage and that was exactly what I got, unlike most massages where they fail to deliver enough pressure. This was my first experience of a Thai massage and I thoroughly enjoyed it. My treatment started on time and lasted the full hour. I was also offered a cup of green tea after the treatment which was a lovely way to finish before setting off again. I walked out feeling lighter and refreshed.
I highly recommend this place and look forward to returning.

Another visit, this time to experience the Herbal Healer massage, and it was great, expertly adjusted to my problems, with great therapeutic effect. This really is a gem of a place - small but of very fine quality in all respects.

I don't normally write reviews but after having the Thai Combination massage at Metta Urban Retreat I want to tell everyone how great it was. I've had a lot of massages before in the UK and Asia and none come close to this massage - I didn't get the therapists name but she was so lovely and amazing at what she does. You are made to feel welcome as soon as you arrive by being offered a water or tea and foot bath. The massage was excellent - if you are full of aches and pains she applies the right pressure for you to get rid of these as well as it being really soothing and relaxing. You do get pulled around a bit with stretches for your legs but all part of the experience and totally worth it!
