Booked a spa day with afternoon tea - my daughter and I. we know the hotel: in fact my daughter had her (absolutely brilliant) hen party here last year.
When we arrived (Saturday at 11.15ish), the car park was quite busy as there was obviously a wedding taking place (the groom and others were having photos in the gardens) so we decided to try to park near the leisure club which as others have noted is in a separate building - we were shocked. On passing the building to the rear car park, the outside of the building is in an appalling state of repair. It is almost crumbling away!
The young lady who greeted us was very pleasant and gave us what we needed and showed us where to go for the ladies changing area - straight through the gym! The equipment was crammed in, close together and not at all inviting.
On to the changing rooms - they were filthy! My daughter dropped the padlock key on the floor and was horrified with what she could see under the bench in the changing room. They really do need a thorough cleaning.
So we went through to the pool. It was divided into 2 for childrens swimming lessons and there were a number of local lady leisure club members lane swimming in the other half. The sauna, steam room and jacuzzi were all occupied by what appeared to be single males of differing age but none of whom were averse to staring at any and every female. We both felt extremely uncomfortable. Incidentally, the pool area is very rundown and the saftey rail around the jacuzzi is pure rust. The photographs of the pool and jacuzzi are not consistent with the real thing.
We got in and got out - literally. We dressed and left the hotel, deciding to go to a local shopping centre until time for our afternoon tea.
Arriving back for our booked time of 2pm, we presented ourselves at the appropriate area inside the hotel. The waitress informed me that the area was extremely busy and she would see if she could "reserve a table" for us. I thought I had done that when I phoned the hotel weeks ago to book our timeslot! So, we went to freshen up in the ladies and when we returned, she told us she had managed to find us a table. It was at this point that we gatecrashed the wedding!
The wedding party was in between the ceremony and the wedding breakfast so everyone had congregated in the bar area. The bar itself was crammed full of dirty glasses. The waitress told us to just go to the bar and order our tea which we did. My daughter wanted to purchase a soft drink and it took 20 minutes to be served. Fortunately, the tea took as long to arrive.
During our afternoon tea, the wedding photographer was snapping away at the guests and presumably those that were not invited would be "airbrushed out" later!!
My daughter likes plain food. Fortunately for her, the sandwiches were quite suitable, the cakes and scones of a reasonable standard and the actual cup of tea was lovely. The experience however, was far from it.

The hotel and the staff were lovely. The hotel room had a comfy bed and the room was nice and warm. My boyfriend and i both enjoyed the back, neck and shoulder massage. The tapas and the 3 course meal was tasty and the atmosphere in the restaurant was nice too. Breakfast was lovely in the morning. The overall value for money was excellent.

In comparison to other hotels with spa facilities, the standard of cleanliness in the changing rooms could be improved and i was suprised that there was no relaxation area for guests to go after their treatments. It was also inconvenient that the hotel and spa are in different buildings. This meant that after treatments, you could not simply walk back to the hotel room and relax.

Amazing value! Loads of great things about this stay. The staff were very pleasant & helpful, they let us check in early, they responded to requests immediately when we phoned down for different key card (ours was faulty) or milk, ice etc, the dining room was busy with just one staff member to seat people and take orders but she still managed to do a great job and very friendly nothing was too much trouble! The food was amazing - and we were able to choose anything off the al a carte menu. Tapas was also nice (although it was salads, bread etc rather than real spanish sytle tapas - but great to have early evening as we had a late dinner). The room was lovely very clean and nicely decorated. The spa was fine - nice jacuzzi and sauna & steam rooms the pool area would really benefit from a few more loungers and the changing room floor was muddy. The facial and therapist were both fantastic and my friends who had the massage were equally pleased. I can't wait to rebook!!

The Good - rooms were clean and a good size. Staff very helpful and friendly. Hairdresser did a good job on my hair.
The bad - Spa facilities were in a seperate building. Everything was crammed into a very small space. Swimming pool (Half was used for childrens swimming lessons) jacuzzi, steam room and sauna all cramped into one space. Gym with equipment so close together you could practically touch your neighbour. Changing room very basic and overpoweringly hot.
No water pressure for shower or sink in hotel room.
Dining - Breadfast was good but the evening meal was very disappointing. Very long wait between courses and when the food came it was very small portions that were very bland.

Overall I would not return to this hotel. This was not the relaxing treat I had envisaged.
Childrens swimming lessons in progress whilst we tried to relax in spa facilities were a big put off.
I'm not a picky eater but ended up at the pub over the road for my meal on the second night as hotel food was so poor.

My cousin had bought me a photoshoot experience for 2 people for my birthday :) We were looking through Wahanda's site when we noticed an unbelieveable deal to this hotel so we decided to take the opportunity to indulge ourselves with a weekend of pampering :) We had 2 nights stay, bed and breakfast on both mornings, a 3 course meal on the friday evening and tapas meal on the saturday evening and if that wasnt enough we were also treated to a full body massage, all this for £125.00 each :)

From the moment we arrived until the moment we left we were treated like we mattered (which is rare in most hotels now-a-days), nothing was too much trouble, service was exceptional and everyone looked happy to be in work (which is VERY unusual now-a-days!) our room was VERY clean and although there were weddings on during our stay we never heard any noise from the private functions so our sleep was not interrupted, very important when your going to be photographed all day long!

I will definetly be booking to stay at this hotel again 5**********

Fabulous mini break, excellent value for money, superb spa facilities, the food is stunning.would highly recommend.we chose the sunday night spa break for £65 each and we where not dissapointed.the only thing i would advise is that if you are a light sleeper, take earplugs as if the wind is travelling in a certain direction the aeroplanes can rumble on into the night from manchester airport, but apart from that you cannot complain.

OK so on arrival after a long train journey we arrived at the hotel before check in time, which as far as I knew we would have to normally wait until 2pm to check in but they found us a room promptly and all seemed well. Because I had this one night £99 deal I thought it would be good to pay extra for another nights stay so paid this in advance as we were checking in.
After finding the some what dodgy lift we reached our room and was very pleased with it, very clean and smelt fresh too. (the bathroom/shower) was also very nice. After unpacking and removing some layers of clothing the room was not heated adequetly but again was easily sorted by the friendly receptionist who gave us plug in heaters.

The restaurant in the hotel was quite chilly aswell and once we sat to order we waited for 15mins to be offered drinks and our orders taken anyways the food was amazing and well worth the wait, Plus they serve the best apple crumble ever!!!!

When having our spa treatments the 'spa' wasnt attractive and the lady who works as either the receptionist or hairdresser wasnt very friendly or proffesional she couldnt tell us exactly when our treatments were booked for even though I had phoned to confirm before arriving. My treatment was good I had a therapist called Sarah she was very good and kept me informed of what she was doing. My partner had a therapist but she didnt introduce herself and he said she didnt talk at all to let him know where or what he needed to do if having a first treatment the therapist should be confident and have people skills which was clearly lacking.
A bit of a disappointing end to our stay at the time of paying for extra treatments the same therapist was busy and there was no one else to take payment so ended up having to wait for nearly 30mins which meant we then missed the first available cab to take us back to the train station and then missed our train back to london and had to pay extra money to get back plus at reception when checking out they said they still needed to take payment from my card for the extra night stay, but I was confused because I had already paid this on checking in. We had already overheard another customer complaining that they had been charged double for their stay so was a bit cautious as to why they needed my card again, I was then told that the first payment was a preliminary proceedure, so to not make a scene I just handed my card over.
Once we returned to london I checked with my bank and I was charged twice for the extra night so then called the hotel which then tried to reassure me that its not the case but said thay would look into it, which they did and called me back to say it would be refunded which it has been now but should not have happend in the first place. (no apology was made).

All in all me and my boyfriend had a good stay but they definately need to improve on customer services in the 'spa' and make double sure in the hotel reception that customers are not double charged.

Both myself and partner enjoyed our time at the hotel thouroughly. We really enjoyed the spa facilities, espeacially the aromatherapy massage. The hotel had just had a referb which was to a high standard, and the rooms looked great. I would definitley return again in the future.
