I have been to this spa a few times in the past and recently took my friend for her 18th birthday. We both had a very relaxing stay and enjoyed a delicious 3 course meal in the evening alongside a very tasty breakfast the following morning.
The spa facilities were excellent as always and I have already booked to go back in June.
I would definitely recommend this spa!

I decided to go for an overnight Spa break with my husband as needed to be in the area (for emotional event) and thought why not treat ourselves to a relaxing day. Having read bad reviews on Trip Advisor we decided to visit the Spa/Hotel before booking and were greeted by v friendly and helpful staff on main hotel reception and in the Spa itself - including a guided tour. We felt re-assured it was not as bad as reviews had suggested so booked through Wahanda to get a better deal. On the day of the Spa (3 weeks later) we felt generally relaxed and again friendly staff greeted us throughout hotel/spa. Pool area was quite busy when we arrived (just after 2pm) and the loungers were taken plus a water aerobics class going on in the pool. Pool area then got increasingly busy as afternoon went on so be aware. General facilities good but busy (was a Friday). We both had back massage treatments included - 25 mins - but felt more like a gentle rub down than a theraputic massage (I am an experienced beauty therapist myself). Therapist v friendly and chatty. Overall, a nice facility and it is what you make it - a good place to relax and unwind but can depend on how busy the Spa is re overcrowding issue.

The staff were either lovely or a just lacking a little in etiquette, such as quietly taking away cutlery & plates rather than banging around with trays. Not a big deal but just slightly mires the experience of what is otherwise a beautiful peaceful room to have for afternoon tea. The afternoon tea itself is good but not that special - the scone came with butter and jam rather than clotted cream, which was disappointing; the sandwiches had the crusts authentically cut off but the fillings were not taken care of - the salmon was not cut up so it was hard to eat that gently and the ham was a very thin slice of processed ham. The cakes were nice but nothing special. And the coffee was muck.

The spa was really nice but a little rough round the edges - e.g. the sunbeds were filthy looking and the steam room had nothing to 'hide' the machinery. The pool was gorgeous as was the jacuzzi and the sauna and ice sink were great.

All in all a really nice day out but not as luxurious as it could have been. Honestly the room we had our afternoon tea in was the most luxurious part but that was pretty good.

First impression clean and well looked after . The first day we had our inclusive treatments which the girls were very nice and the massage was lovely and my pedicure looks good . The spa was very disapointing , it was so full we could not use the steam room as it only holds 6 people comfortably --same with the sauna , the jacuzzi was full and the people in there stayed even after it stopped it only held 4 comfortably and 6 at a sqeeze which we saw often . We couldnot find a chair or a lounger to sit on . The pool was lovely it was warm and there was plenty of room to swim . Our room was clean and the view from the bathroom was lovely . The resturant food was good thefirst night and the staff were busy but still managed to be friendly , However the next day was another matter the breakfast was fine - at lunch the first course was ok , when the waiter came to collect the plates he knocked over a glass of water the chair and I was drenched - he changed the chair and appologised , we then waited for over 40 minutes for our dessert every one had left the resturant , I asked how much longer will it be , which I was told about 8 minutes and then the 2 waitresses started to talk about us -- it was so obvious -- that when she came to the table I suggested if they wish to talk about us please do it out of sight . The evening meal was awful this was my daughters birthday and I felt dreadful that it was being ruined -- she said her meal was fine -she had the beef I had the lamb chops which were nothing but fat I sent them back amd was told that it would be taken off the bill as I wasall inclusive it cant be taken off .
Day 2 of our treatments I had a facial and my daughter had the hot stones , my facial was very nice the beautican was nice -- but the noise from outside was horrendous someone screamed and lots of laughter I could block this but but my daughter did ask her beautican if she could ask them to be quiet as she was finding it very stressful ----- come to find out it was not the guests but other beauticans .
The gym was very small butwe did have fun working out .
The overall experience was just ok we would not recommend Greenwood and would not go back

I took my elderly mum as a treat as she has been quite poorly and I wanted to give her a little break.
I requested a ground floor room which was ready for us on arrival. Everyone went out of the way to look after her from the lovely therapists to helpful receptionists and kind restaurant staff. The only pitfall was unable to get a decent picture on the rooms television, but seeing as we was only in the room for short while wasn't the end of the world...

The venue, the staff, the service and general atmosphere are all lovely, "spot on"! Both Mum and I loved the lounge area - it was typical old English. It has to be noted that the staff were very good - friendly, prefessional, helpful, cheerful. The venue was the escape from the hum-drum of day to day living and modern existance we needed. The room was lovely too. The gym facility was just right for a hotel of its size, as was the Spa facility. The weaker points of the venue to note are: Dinner was average, a bit like old fashioned pub grub. The therapists at the Spa were a bit dissapointing with their knowledge and professionalism etc. In summary: We had a great time at Greenwoods Hotel Spa and Retreat. Mum and I left relaxed and in very good spirits!

Had a very posh feel to it without being snobby. Rooms we're lovely, big bed, powerful shower (possibly too powerful and a touch too hot) Spa facilties were nice considering ther were included in the price. Only complaint really was the shower in the ladies chnaging room had run out of shampoo when I went to use it.
