I chose to go to Great Jones Spa during Deal Days and was offered a spa manicure and pedicure combo including the Water Lounge pass for $50. Upon arriving at Great Jones Spa I was greeted with a smile and escorted to the dressing room by one of the two front desk staff members. On our way to the dressing room I could smell the aroma of Eucalyptus lingering throughout the muggy air. For me this was a huge plus because I am quite the lover of the Eucalyptus tree. After walking into the dressing room I was given a locker with a key to secure my belongings. This locker contained a robe, slippers, hooks and a hanger was provided for my clothing. In this dressing room they offered a variety of products including but not limited to lotion, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, razors, and hairspray. All of which was well known and of great quality.

I arrived early for my treatments, so I changed into my swim suit and robe while I waited for my technician to finish with her previous client. I was so excited for my treatment that the anticipation was killing me. I couldn't wait to soak my feet, have my legs scrubbed and rid my skin of all it's dead cells. Manicures and pedicures are a regular regimen for me, but not including this ambiance or comfort. Unfortunately my spa manicure and pedicure were not exactly SPA. I would call them a regular manicure and pedicure. I was expecting a sea salt scrub on my legs and hands as well as a nice massage afterwards on the feet and hands. This I did not get, as my technician seemed pre-occupied with the clock and finishing as quickly as possible. My manicure and pedicure together took about thirty six minutes in total. Overall the treatment was alright but not the best that I have ever had or close to what I was expecting.

However, the water lounge was a whole other scenario. This is the amazing, enchanting and welcoming place that my mind and body had been craving and needing for some time. The water lounge was a lovely haven where you could bask under the sun roof, sip chamomile tea, munch on almonds and apples, soak away pain and stress in the hot tub, sweat toxins out in the chakra steam room, calm nerves in the dry rock sauna or just cool off in the cold plunge. The perfect escape from the busy streets of Manhattan. The staff were very attentive and kept the water lounge extremely clean and fully stocked with towels and ice cold lemon water.

To top it off Great Jones also has an organic juice bar that offers incredible sandwiches, delicious salads and fresh juices that are refreshing and mouth watering. Besides the mediocre manicure and pedicure, I left Great Jones feeling rejuvenated and completely energized. I have since been back twice for the water lounge for $50 and hope to one day indulge in a massage.
