Have you been here?
Before I sound like one of those people who sounds off on the internet, let me just say this is the first time I've been so upset by an experience that I've had to share it with (read: warn) others. I'm in my mid-20s and live in the local area during the holidays, so visited Es Vida for a facial thinking it would be a nice treat. I was very, very wrong.
My beautician was absolutely fine, although a little rough, but seemingly fairly nice. Unfortunately, the facial itself really hurt, and I felt burning rather than tingling. As this was my first facial there, I didn't know this was a portent of what was to come. I left very red and blotchy, but was told this was normal and that it would die down. It didn't.
A couple if hours after the facial my face was stinging all over. It had become flakey and red on my cheeks, my eyes were running swollen.
Two days later, it had gotten worse rather than better - I looked like i had been burned. My boyfriend winced when he looked at me. I decided to go to Es Vida, tell the manager what had happened, and at least get my money back - I wasn't going to have paid for this pain and embarrassment! The manager was INCREDIBLY rude and aggressive. She accused me of shouting (I am very softly spoken) and told me to 'GET OUT'. I was shaking and in shock. She did give me a refund, but not before announcing to the entire place that I was rude (so everyone turned to look, and see my flakey burny face) and shouted at me.
This place isn't worth it - please don't think I'm a whiney person, I just really feel that this place might hurt someone else as much as it hurt me (my feelings, my pride, and my skin).
