There is no doubt it is one of the best Essex courses, situated just North of the town and off the A12. Its fast running fairways lined with mature trees and firs provide a wonderful test of golf. The four par threes and two par fives mean scoring below 70 is more difficult than it might seem at first and possibly the greatest threat to the unwary golfer comes in the form of tightly bunkered approaches to small subtly contoured greens.
