I recently booked 2 facials at Chill Spa for some $50 service promotion that was going on. I had called and made sure both facials can be scheduled at the same time, in the same room. When i got there with my fiance they told me they could start one right away, and the other would have to wait till a room free's up, and that they didnt have any rooms where 2 could get a facial together. 1st bummer.
My fiance went first and i waited for 30 mins before they took me in. The manager was aloof, didnt seem to be bothered that i had been waiting 30 mins. I was told that they ended up scheduling alot of appointments back to back because of the promotion, and that everyone was running late and i was lucky to have only waited 30 mins vs. other customers that waited more. 2nd bummer.
After the wait i was finally escorted to the facial room, smallish, but nice and clean. My facial therapist was a disgruntled old lady. She had just been in an argument with the manager, so throguhout my facial she kep talking and talking and complaining and telling me all the politics at work. I think i know way more than i signed up for. I kep listening, but at the same time would have really wanted a relaxing facial with no noise. 10 mins into the faical my therapist tells me she has another appointment in 20 mins. I was a little concerned since the facial is supposed to be an hour.
Anyways, she did a good job, rushed through the cleansing and stuff, and then applied a mask which, she claimed was a special for me because i waited so long. I later found out its not really a special as my fiance got one too, as part of the package. hah. After applying the mask the therapist left to take care of her other customer and didnt return for a while, it was a little annoying. Overall, the facial lasted an hour and 15 mins.
WHile paying their credit card machine was down. I think i had to wait another 20 mins for them to try swiping my card 3 times, restarting their machine etc./
I wouldnt go back to chill spa...even for the $50 promotion, the logistics of it were pretty painful, although the facial was good.

Chill Spa was offering $50 facials, about 50-60% off the usual rate, so I decided to check it out.

When you walk-in, the reception area is nice and airy. However, the dude at reception, who appears to be the manager, is a bit aloof, doesn't pay much attention to detail and doesn't set the tone for the experience. For example, in the 5-10 minutes I sat in the waiting room, he had a loud phone conversation and also talked across the room to one of the therapists. Definitely no zen here.

Unfortunately, despite the roomy reception area, the treatment room was cramped, even by NYC standards. I am of average height, but my feet were hanging off the bed and hitting the wall! I was there for the treatment, primarily, so the lack of ambiance or amenities did not detract too much.

My therapist was pretty good. As I am not a facial expert, she walked me through the steps, the different applications and masks, etc. The facial itself lasted about an hour, and the therapist was efficient, gentle and pretty good. I left the spa feeling refreshed and unclogged!

Overall, I don't think I'd spend full price to visit Chill Spa, but the discounted price made it a decent value.
