The California Yoga Center (CYC) is located in the heart of Silicon Valley with studios in Mountain View and Palo Alto. Serving the community since 1980, we are dedicated to offering yoga instruction in the tradition of B.K.S. Iyengar.
Our two studios provide the community with more than 60 classes each week to meet the needs of busy Bay Area lifestyles. Classes range from beginner to advanced, and include special needs classes like prenatal and back care. We also sponsor workshops presented by our own instructors as well as by knowledgeable and well-respected yoga instructors from around the world. The workshops range from half day to full weekends and focus on a variety of yoga-related topics.

Even though I knew that California Yoga Center existed in the Bay Area, I didn't think about checking out the Center's yoga classes until I read an article about one of its teachers in a Yoga Journal article. It talks about how Elise Miller is the first person to create a yoga asana program designed specifically for scoliosis, which I have. Considering that my only scoliosis treatment used to be random periods of physical therapy, and swimming and ballet classes as a kid, I was intrigued to see how yoga, which I love practicing, could help me with the condition, especially as I get older.
The class was great and I could tell that Elise knows what she is talking about. I liked how she explained the reasoning behind the moves ... But more importantly, I appreciated that she has a DVD and pamphlet for sale called "Yoga for Scoliosis", especially since I was not living permanently in the area and wanted to continue practicing these moves.
It's great to know that there is a Yoga for Scoliosis program out there, which is just another reminder of how much yoga can help us with our various physical ailments and challenges.
