When you come to Bootcamp Pilates, you work with a machine called The Reformer.
Based on Joseph Pilates’ principles of 100 years ago, when in a war camp during World War 1, he helped his fellow inmates who were bed-ridden to use their beds and whatever else he could muster to create resistance exercise while they were lying down.
Back then, he used the bedsprings themselves, cables, springs and pulleys attached to the hospital beds to get the patients to use their muscles, and stop them from atrophying.
The Reformer machine we have today is a sophisticated version of what Pilates used in those days. It’s a well-designed and safe system of springs, straps and pulleys which all work together to provide an effective, no-impact stretching and toning workout. It’s kind to your skeleton and joints, and helps lengthen and strengthen your muscles without putting on bulk. It establishes torso stability and postural alignment.
This fitness regime is so effective that those in the know, Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Aniston and Elizabeth Hurley to name but a few, have adopted this up-to-the-minute form of Pilates.
People find that they can lose weight and gain a more aligned and definitely more toned body in a matter of weeks.
I was so impressed. Was quite frightened as I was making my way thinking...What am I putting myself thru? It was great. The reception advised how it worked. It was easy to find. A doorway bwtn shops. Convenient walk from station. It had a toilet, changing rooms and an open plan work-out area. The instructor was lovely.I had done pilates for 3 years and used the reformer previously. The instructor reassured me that I would enjoy the class and that I did. I was sweating a 3rd of the way thru and had to stop a couple of times but pushed on. Felt brilliant. Will definitely go back. Legs, arms and bum were stiff for a few days. Sure sign on a good workout! Their packages are excellent value for money
