I visited Bodysgallen Hall with my sisters-in-law after Christmas 2007 especially to use the Spa as it was the nearest we were aware of near our holiday cottage in Llangollen. On the day we visited it was raining cats and dogs,so we didn't have time to peruse the grounds but from what I saw as I ran from the car to the Spa reception it would be a lovely place to stay for the whole day and explore.
The staff were polite and efficient, showing us where to change and leave our belongings. I was impressed at how clean and well cared for the facilities where. The pool is quite large and on the day we visited we were the only people using it. The sauna and steam room where adequate, again very clean and white but I would have like to have the opportunity to include aromatherapy oils to make my experience more luxurious.
My massage therapist was very good, using sweet smelling oils and scented candles, I certainly felt very relaxed, in fact I my have fallen asleep towards the end ! I enjoyed the use of the relaxation room afterwards with tea, biscuits and magazines but I only used it briefly as two of my party had to drive back to the North that afternoon.
I enjoyed my massage and I would return to Bodysgallen Hall at another time, I wouldn't rate it as luxurious more as a very good private gym with excellent facilities. Possibly I've been spoiled In Las Vegas drinking strawberry daiquiris in outdoor hot tubs... the only thing that marred my experience was when I paid. For some reason I can't now recall the total came to £10 more than the price that I had been quoted when I booked my massage. I coughed up the extra without complaint but the added amount did bring the massage to more to what I'm used to paying in London... bit steep for the locals I thought, but I guess most of the clientele come form the attached Hotel.

How much did you end up paying? I think I would certainly expect to pay less than London prices in Wales! Where would you recommend for a massage in London?

Hi Ladywal I ended up paying £55 which isn't too bad if I could have stayed longer and made more use of the facilities. I could recommend a aromatherapy massage at one of the Neal's Yard therapy rooms, it's been a while since I had one so I just looked up the prices on their website and they are between £35 - £55 depending on if you want a half hour or an hour long massage. You can have a trainee masseuse for and hour for £30.
