Blue Lagoon spa treatments and massages take place both inside and in the lagoon itself, in the open air. Blue Lagoon skin care products are used in all treatments. In-water spa treatments take place on a specially designed wooden bench. Massages are performed on a mattress in the lagoon. The outdoor spa area is spacious and more than one treatment can take place simultaneously, making it possible for couples to have a treatment at the same time. Special blankets are used to keep guests warm.
The Exclusive Bath and Lounge offers an option for guests looking for more privacy. The area includes six private changing rooms for 1-2 people and access to a reserved lounge with modern design furniture, a fireplace and a private indoor lagoon with access to the Blue Lagoon. On the second floor, there's an outdoor deck overlooking the lagoon.
A visit to the Blue Lagoon geothermal spa is an important part of your stay in Iceland. Guests renew their relationship with nature, soak up the scenic beauty and enjoy breathing the clean, fresh air while relaxing in the warm geothermal seawater.
Through nature and science Blue Lagoon spa treatments and massages provide you with the energy of the geothermal seawater and its active ingredients: minerals, silica and algae. The water’s temperature is 37-39°C / 98-102°F. The lagoon holds six million liters of geothermal seawater, which is renewed every 40 hours.
The Blue Lagoon is located only a 20 minute drive from Keflavík International Airport and 40 minutes drive from Reykjavík city center.
What an amazing setting - apart from the view of the power station in the distance.
The waters are a stunning milky blue and warm around the edges of the lagoon but as you near the center the heat rises dramatically and only the brave or foolish sit around the underwater jets.
it is not as 'natural' as you are led to believe or assume (the hot water is pumped in from that power station you can see in the distance), but truly an amazing experience being submerged in hot water, amidst the steam knowing that eventually you have to emerge and face the well below zero temperatures. The deposits in the lagoon make a great skin rub and are supposedly good for treating a variety of skin complaints.
They have a great number of treatments available, if you are on friendly terms with your bank manager.
